I think that most killjoy gangs probably have a member who takes on the job of sewing and mending/fixing jackets, masks, etc. and they’re known as the gang’s fairy godmother!! Basically in charge of helping the joys in their crew have their cinderella killjoy transformation moment!! I have a feeling that Killjoys would have new terms for distance to confuse BLI, and different compass directions.

For example, off the top of my head:

North - Newer

East - Evening

South - Start

West - Wake

There could be universal terms, and ones for your own crew.

Distance could be measured in minutes (at a set speed, like 50mph, which is probably an average in the desert), but of course minutes has been changed to a different word.

Maybe there's a Drac attack, and someone radios ' Clap, 10 checks start evening Hyper Thrust' and you've got all your information in a few words.

Zone slang, much like the people who speak it, has a far more bohemic aspect than it's City counterpart, spoken by juvies down in the Battery City slums; though perhaps that's to be expected given the artistic nature of the colorful rebels. Differences aside, the two were born of the same mix of the code spiders used during the Analog War and whatever caught on in the pit of the underground, so it's only natural there is some areas where the 2 overlap.

One of said areas are directions— a mix of analog and digital clock face terminology, more often used with its newfound purpose rather than actually telling the time— but whereas in killjoy slang it's more of a warning than anything, in juvie it can be used to quickly and discreetely establish an alternative route. A.M and P.M are simple enough— just in fornt and behind you— while numbers 1-12 are if you want to get more specific. Juvies, however, have added minutes into the mix, signifying for how long you have to walk a certain direction

More Zone slang. Dust Cloud Killjoy. or Cloud Joy, for short. A joy (or someone else for that matter. Dust Cloud Drac maybe) who's got a lot of friends or backup. References the dust cloud multiple vehicles or feet creates in the desert.

Pills in Battery City must make social interactions very strange. Since they restrict emotions, Battery citizens don’t easily get hurt or jealous and they don’t really laugh. As such, they don’t really use jokes or humour in conversation and can be extremely frank. If they ever use metaphors, it’s never to exaggerate, they actually think that your haircut looks like a rat’s fur. A few newly escaped citizens have actually caused ridiculous feuds just by describing another killjoy’s outfit because killjoys are very touchy.

They also don’t really use exclamations, while killjoys will scream some weird expression they’ve just come up with whenever something surprises them.

Killjoys try to get as much emotion into their speech as possible, because they were so deprived of it in Battery City (hence why zone slang is so colourful) and make lots of shitty puns that battery citizens find very confusing at first.
