Does anyone have any experience with Zonegran? My neurologist is switching me over to it from the trileptal I’m currently on and then adding in Lamictal later.

I’m asking because recently I’ve been feeling really crappy on my trileptal (dizziness, nausea, and that was with taking only 450mg!) and I wanted to know if anyone has had difficulty with zonegran.

Any info would be appreciated.

for anyone who has taken zonisamide/zonegran; did you experience extreme mood and/or behavior changes while on it? I am trying to determine if the extreme mood swings, paranoia, and depression that I have been experiencing in the past two months are due to me taking this medication. I started at the end of November, and I am currently at a dosage of 100 mg. perhaps it's just me perhaps it's this medication Did you experience something similar?

Hello! Sorry but I saw a post you commented on on another blog which was about your epilepsy. I have epilepsy to and I've been having trouble with tablets. Would you mind giving me some advice? Sorry if this is private!

Oh I’ve been having trouble for four years but I think most people do. I’ve been on Zonegran since October and it’s working well for me. I’ve only had one seizure since starting and I’m still only on the starting dose which is positive! Some sickness but the tiredness and binge eating I had before has settled. Lamictal gave me a rash but it’s supposed to be ideal for girls, Epilim was hell and made me binge eat and pile on so much fat (it’s renowned for that), Keppra was grand but stopped working and Tegretol made me incredibly anxious, tired, made it so difficult to stay at a healthy weight and began to effect my heart - but I think that’s really quite rare and I’m getting tests for cardiac syncope too which could be related.

Doctors know a lot but they don’t know everything. Don’t be afraid to politely “argue” and make your voice heard if you’re not happy with the care you’re receiving. If you come off anonymous we can chat privately :) But sure let me know how you get on. @epilepsysupport is a fab tumblr to follow too 👏

I've had two seizures in a matter of twelve hours....

Yeah…two fucking seizures. A tonic seizure and a tonic-clonic seizures. Like, wtf man? I’ve been clean from meth for over a year, heroine for a year, and really have done nothing else, I even stopped smoking weed since February. I’ve been a good boy and this shit just seems to be happening more. I just got out of the hospital and I’m so tired and whatnot. It’s funny, my dad came home from japan today after a year of being there and what does he see first? Me fucking flopping on the floor and blue in the face. Welcome home dad…Sidenote, this was also the first time my dad has meet my boyfriend…lol. it’s like, “hey, I’m Kody, your sons boyfriend. Oh he’s busy having a seizure…okay”. Damn…

I’m not sure if I went into status epileptics, where you dont stop seizing for hours, but hopefully not. They put me on another medication called zonegran….hopefully that helps. I hate this but it’s something I can’t change….

I took zonegran for a while and I have anxiety it made it alot worse and I had to stop taking it
