John Candy as “Zontar”.

This is from the October 30th, 1981 broadcast of SCTV. The brother of Conrad Bain (the latter known for playing Mr. Drummond from “Diff’rent Strokes”) is in league with the evil extraterrestrial overlord Zontar who wants to take over SCTV and demands nine of his own shows and three best-of specials. And it’s up to Deforest Kelley (Dave Thomas wearing a business suit with the Starfleet emblem on the pocket) and SCTV president Guy Caballero (Joe Flaherty) to stop him.

Did I mention Zontar’s weapons of choice are heads of cabbage that take over people’s minds?

This was the Canadian sketch show’s insane and brilliant send up of the Old School Sci Fi movie genre.
