Oh no monster pirates-

Another project I've been slowly picking away at- featuring a group of dastardly zora pirates based off various monsters found throughout loz.

Goliath (Top Left)

First introduced here as one of Nerissa’s former beaus, Goliath is the ruthless captain of the crew. A towering and imposing Zora, he commands his gang with a mix of brute strength, charisma, and sheer intimidation. Under his leadership, the crew terrorizes the seas surrounding Hyrule and far beyond, leaving wrecked ships and terrified sailors in their wake. Despite his savage reputation, Goliath has an undeniable charm that draws others to him—something he uses freely to maintain loyalty and admiration from his crew.

Chompa (Top Right)

Inspired by Bomb Fish, Chompa serves as the crew’s explosives expert and living artillery cannon. Her bod is capable or producing volatile bombs within her stomach, which she gleefully launches from her mouth with catastrophic force. She’s energetic, bubbly, and disturbingly cheerful even in the middle of carnage, combining childlike sweetness with obsessive, borderline unhinged behavior. Chompa is hopelessly infatuated with Goliath, showering him with relentless affection and devotion. Goliath, however, merely tolerates her obsession because he enjoys the attention she gives him.

Palifico (Bottom Left)

The crew’s First Mate, Palifico is based on the Wind Waker Octoroks and acts as the true mastermind behind the operation. While Goliath commands through fear and presence, Palifico handles strategy, logistics, and planning with cold precision. Exceptionally intelligent and calculating, he is responsible for everything from navigation routes to ambush tactics and smuggling operations. Calm, composed, and often sardonic, Palifico prefers manipulating situations from the shadows rather than seeking glory himself.

Silence (Bottom Right)

Inspired by Skullfish, Silence is perhaps the most disturbing member of the crew. Gaunt and skeletal in appearance, they possess an unnerving, corpse-like visage paired with an impossibly wide maw capable of devouring nearly anything. True to their name, Silence rarely speaks, communicating mostly through short, blunt one-word statements- the most common being: “Hungry.” Their quiet demeanor only makes them more unsettling, as they drift silently through battles and shipwrecks consuming whatever—or whoever—they can sink their teeth into. Beneath their eerie calm lies an endless, insatiable hunger that seems impossible to satisfy.

The Windfish Lineup

I'm happy to present the completed lineup for my Zora band the Windfish 🌈. I'm extremely proud to have finished this because, even though it doesn't look like it, getting the designs down for all these characters was a big project for me- and one I think was very successful. From Left to right, top to bottom, we have... Nerissa (Harpist), Conrad (Horn), Reed (Triangle), Sonne (Marimba), Gilly(Cello), Shellie (Drums), Finnian(Bell), and Galieo (Organ).

In-depth information about these characters below the cut. I got a bit burned out towards the end so everyone past Gilly isn't as fleshed out as the others, but I'll add to this over time<33

❤️ Conrad

Name Meaning: "Brave Counsel" Age Range: Late 40s

Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Bisexual Marital Status: Single Race: Zora - Pufferfish Instrument: Horn Color: Red

Conrad has been looking after Nerissa since her arrival in Hyrule. Despite her attempts to conceal it, he immediately recognized the sadness in her eyes and couldn't help but worry for her well-being. This concern led him to invite her to join the band, hoping that the sense of belonging and security would help her get back on her feet. He's the only member of the Band who suspects who Nerissa truly is- but to him her past doesn't matter. He just wants her to be happy.

Over the years, Conrad has come to trust Nerissa for her strong work ethic and leadership skills. He believes he can always rely on her to complete a task, and she has proven this to him time and again. As a result, Conrad eventually decided to hand over his position as leader of the Windfish to her. He still steps back up to the plate when he deems it necessary- but otherwise he's been enjoying a quiet, semi-retirement.

The two have a very sweet, almost father/daughter bond.

Conrad and Reed have known each other since they were fry so they've always been close- but after Reed married Conrad's sister, the two became brothers! They're extremely close friends and care deeply about one another- despite the fact that Conrad frequently laments Reed is also the biggest thorn in his side!

Has a similarly protective, paternal bond with Sonne, Gilly, Shellie, Finnian and Galileo.

He think's Sonne is as dumb as a bag of rocks- but also one of the kindest people he's ever met. Conrad was the one who gave Sonne the nickname "Sunshine". Conrad is always happy to help Sonne with his problems- but will always make sure to tease the poor bastard first.

Next to Nerissa, Conrad regards Gilly as the smartest of his bandmates and appreciates what a good head she has on her shoulders. He is similarly fond of Shellie.

Finnian must be protected at all costs!!!

🧡 Reed

Name Meaning: A tall, slender plant which grows in water or on marshy ground. Age Range: Late 40s

Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Bisexual Marital Status: Married Race: Zora - Catfish Instrument: Triangle Color: Orange

He think's Nerissa is a sweet heart but worries occasionally that she might be working to hard. He always does his best to encourage her to take a break when she needs it.

Married to the Bands manager- who is Conrad's sister. Making him Conrad’s brother in law. Conrad is his best friend. In their down time the two can often be seen playing cards and drinking with one another.

Easygoing and lackadaisical. He may lack conventional book smarts but he possesses a startling degree of emotional intelligence and wealth of wisdom which he freely shares with all. Much like Conrad, he looks after the younger members of the band- though in a far more relaxed way then his Brother-In-Law.

Very encouraging of everyone's dreams and passions.

Loves his wife, man.

A seaweed enjoyer.

💛 Sonne / "Sunshine"

Name Meaning: German for "sun". Age Range: Late 20s

Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Straight Marital Status: Single, Unavailable. Race: Zora - Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish Instrument: Marimba Color: Yellow

He's in love with Gilly but hasn't worked up the courage to tell her yet- as he's worried of ruining their friendship.

Has always been a bit starstruck by Nerissa and has a bit of an unconscious crush at her- but who doesn't? Outside of that, the two are good friends and regularly hangout alongside their other friends.

See's Conrad and Reed as mentor figures and regularly seeks them out for advice to try and improve his craft. He deeply admires Conrad in particular- even if the old man frequently teases him.

Sonne, Gilly, and Finnian are part of a smaller friend group and regularly hang out together in-between concerts. Occasionally Sonne's enthusiastic spontaneity gets them into trouble- but disaster is always ultimately avoided thanks to either Gilly's quick thinking, Finnian's immense size, or both.

He's a super huge fan of wrestling- and I imagine he was the one who initially encouraged Finnian to try out for SMASH.

Shellie and Galileo think he's hilarious and every time they laugh at his dumb jokes he feels 10 feet taller.

💚Gilly

Name Meaning: "Joyous" / "Youthful". Fish pun. Age Range: Late 20s

Gender: Female Pronouns: She/her or They/Them Orientation: Straight Marital Status: Single

Race: Zora - Bluegill Instrument: Cello Color: Green

A very blase zora. Tough, blunt, and reserved. She has a hard time expressing herself but possesses a warm heart.

She's in love with Sonne but isn't sure whether or not he returns her feelings because he's equally as friendly with all their other bandmates.

Is frequently encouraged by Nerissa and Shellie to express her true feelings to Sonne- but she hasn't yet. What if they're wrong about it?

Though Gilly is friends with Nerissa, Gilly has a weird feeling about her at times. She just seems like she's hiding something- but she's never pried.

Finnian is like a little brother to her.

Often meets up with Galileo for styling tips. He's the one who gave both Gilly and Sone their piercings.

🩵 Shellie

Name Meaning: A play on the word "Shell". Age Range: Early 30s

Gender: Female Pronouns: She/her Orientation: Straight Marital Status: Single, but interested in someone.

Race: Zora - Sea Turtle Instrument: Drums Color: Cyan

She, Galileo, and Nerissa form another trio and regularly hang out in-between concerts. Thankfully their get togethers are a lot more relaxed then the ones Sonne, Gilly, and Finnan.

She hosts daily yoga sessions for her bandmates- which most of them regularly attend. Stretching is important for your health!

An early bird who always gets the worm! :)

Friendly, but a little competitive. Often surfs or races against Sonne.

She respects Conrad but it'd be a lie if she said she wasn't a little intimidated by him.

Adores / admires Reed!

Name Meaning: "Little Fair One" / "Courageous". Age Range: Late Teens (Over 18+)

Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Isn't sure! Marital Status: Single

Race: Zora - Blue Whale Instrument: Bell Color: Blue

Youngest of the Group. Extremely shy about everything but his music.

Was adopted by the Windfish as a collective after he lost his Pod during a storm. Multiple attempts were made to try and reunite Finnian with his family- but they were never found.

See's Nerissa as a mother figure but has always hesitated to outright call her that. He loves her to the moon and back!

Hero worships Sonne and often tries to emulate his "cool guy" style.

Was encouraged to try out wrestling by his bandmates in the hopes the sport would help him build his confidence. He's still deciding on a stage name! His bandmates really like "Finnian the Fantastic"- but, idk, is he really fantastic? :C

Name Meaning: Named after the Italian astronomer. Idk why I just liked it- Age Range: Mid 30s

Head over heels in love with a hylian farmboy named Leaf. (Owned by my bff @r0b0tak ). Galileo always sends half his earnings back to Leaf to help take care of his family.
