May 30, 2026 - Palawan Striped-Babbler (Zosterornis hypogrammicus) Found in Palawan in the western Philippines, these birds in the white-eye family live in mountain forests. Foraging in pairs and small flocks, often with other species, they eat insects, as well as seeds and other plant foods, picking prey from leaves and branches. While almost nothing is known about their nesting behavior, birds in breeding condition have been found in April and May.
Have you seen the silvereye (Zosterops lateralis)?

Cape White-eye (Zosterops virens); Garden Route, South Africa
White-eyes are everywhere, but also so difficult to manage a good photo, since they are just so fast, hardly ever sitting still. Glad this one (sort of) obliged me for a moment.
Fun fact: The general name for white-eye species in Afrikaans is "glasogie/glaasogie," which directly translates to "glass eye"...you can clearly see why!
