If there is one thing that annoys me the most, it’s the massive sense of entitlement ZK shippers have. You can see it with the petition they made to make it happen in the live action Netflix series.
Talking about “Kataang had their time so now it’s Zutaras turn”
Like GTFO here with that!
"It's our turn!" No. It's not. Your turn is literally whenever you make fan content. That is YOUR space. You can do whatever the fuck you want with it.
Disliking a decision the writers made, and even having serious issues with it to the point that you make your own version of it, is one thing but genuinely believing that you're entitled to force it to be seen as "the new canon" by everyone is something else.
Plus, let's be real: would Zutarians be okay with "having their turn", and then allowing Kataang to be canon again, or let Zuko or Katara end up with someone else? No. Because this isn't about being fair and letting everyone be canon at different times, this about them wanting to essentially retcon the original show and have everyone treat Zutara as canon and Kataang as fanon - or worse, the "wrong" ship.
And for God's sake, do they REALLY want their ship to be "canon" through fucking Netflix? That has been making pointless, boring, ridiculously bad remakes that think being "dark" is more important than a good, coherent, interesting story? If you're gonna demand something, demand some actual quality. Zutara happening in it wouldn't be a victory, it'd be a disaster and while I really dislike the ship, even I don't want Netflix to touch it and turn into one of their bland "romances" that make the audience hate the two people involved.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Zutara happening on NETFLIX made people appreciate Kataang more - God knows I started doing so after seeing some particularly awful Zutara content.
