4 events over two days with the @totaltritraining squad and some members of @telfordtriclub & @wrekintriclub Great organisation from the TTT team in putting it all together and creating some competitive, challenging and fun training & racing. London Loop on Friday with a 'best effort' 3k KOM up Box Hill. Saturday was race day as a back to back solo TT, 5k run off the bike, followed by a 4 lap Crit race.💪 Something different, great training, racing & race prep, and a lot of fun. 👌 Reposted from @totaltritraining All we can say is... Well done! #strongertogether #totaltritraining #tritraining #triathlontraining #zwiftracing #tricommunity #strongertogether #thankgodforthesquad #teamwork #swimbikerun #triathlon #triathlete #trilife #triathlontraining (at Zwift Watopia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMGSWcdBpXk/?igshid=14bjdo2av9ke7
What a tough 3 days of racing but it was fun!!! I had to be mindful that taking on the Tour de Boudicca would put a lot of stress on my body and waking up yesterday morning with the left side of my face numb meant I spent most of the day sleeping to help my body recover the best it could so I could race stage 3. Over the past 4 years I’ve had to adapt and learn to be able to continue and progress with cycling. My climbing still needs a lot of work, evident yesterday when I stayed with the front group all the way until the volcano climb where I got dropped very quickly and the climb to the top was slow and painful!! Very happy with finishing 29th overall!! It was an absolutely fantastic event to be part of, great to race with so many amazing ladies. Thankyou to Revolution Velo Racing for organising a very successful event!! Hopefully this will be the first of many events like this on Zwift for all categories to be a part of😊🚲#zwift #zwiftcycling #zwifting #zwiftracing https://www.instagram.com/p/CDIuMXaH1AN/?igshid=1kstzmeernmnh
Tour de Boudicca Stage 1 TTT didn’t start great, 1 rider got kicked out of the start pen during our 17 mins wait🙁 Then we had 1 rider drop off the back during the lead in, 1 rider dropped back to try and help get her back but it wasn’t going to work, luckily we didn’t have to drop the pace too much to get the rider that dropped to help back with us. The remaining 5 of us stayed together, pushing a strong pace and after the 3rd split time a team member came on discord to tell us we were leading by 8 secs and we all gave everything we had left to finish strongly. Not long after we had finished we were told we had won!!!! Once the weigh in video had been done, I could finally relax and recover 😊 Well done Cryo-Gen Penguins!!🏆🥇#zwift #zwiftcycling #zwifting #zwiftracing https://www.instagram.com/p/CDDpv0aHcl2/?igshid=b4rvjyxk8ot0
Lockdown on the bike.
When this lockdown started and I was furloughed (24th March). I thought to myself that I was going to lose a lot of commuting miles on my bike. I normally use these miles to add to my training and I didn't want to lose that.
We were still aloud to cycle outside in England for fitness, but I was unsure whether I wanted to risk riding outside in case of accident or injury. So I decided to sign up for Zwift and do all my training virtually.
Now when I was originally furloughed, I thought it would only be for a few weeks and then I would be back at work. Remember I was worried about those lost commuting miles. I came up with the idea of riding zwift everyday until I went back to work, for at least 1 hour per day (the time I would usually spend commuting).
Well it is now 2nd May and I am still furloughed and will continue to be until at least 1st June. I have today rode my 40th ride in my own personal “Tour De Quarantine” and am still going strong. I fully intend to carry on until I return to work. My legs are pretty tired, but fitness wise I think I am the best I have ever been.
Usually on a Saturday I would ride outside for 3-4 hours, so that is what i have been doing on Zwift. To keep things interesting I have been trying to do a different Zwift course each day. to see if I could try and ride them all. I have also been entering 1 or 2 races each week to keep a bit of competition in there.
I am now up to 1122.3 quarantine miles and have spent 59 and and half hours in the saddle, which has really bumped up my annual mileage. So even though all of my outdoor events have been cancelled and I am not getting to spend time outside or go for group rides this is still looking to be a good year for me on the bike.
I know 1 thing for sure when this is all over I will be carrying on with the Zwift races and add them to my usual training program.
Ciao J
