My new Hogwarts house sorting system.

I got tired of complicated systems and quizzes with seemingly random answers...(left or right, dusk or dawn....what does this have to do with my house?)

So I introduce the Simple Sorting System or the SSS for short.

I purposely tried to avoid traits like kind, intelligent, etc., because I don't think you have to be in a certain house to be kind or smart (or dumb or crewl for that matter) and even some of these traits may overlap a bit further, but it should give enough of an idea collectively.

It works like this;

Below is a list of commonly observed traits of each Hogwarts house. Go through each list and see which one you have the most traits in (some share traits, that's on purpose), that's your house. If you find your self fairly evenly split, then you've ended up in a hat stall, just pick the house you'd rather be in, simple!

You don't need to have every trait to be in a house (just a majority compared to the other houses, or if your close in two, to pick the house you want), expect to likely have at least one or two traits from other houses.

With this system I test out as Hufflepuff;

I chose to keep track of them like this;

Gryffindor = 2

Ravenclaw = 2

Hufflepuff = 4

Slytherin = 3

I have the most for Hufflepuff, so that would be my house. :)

I'm close enough with Slytherin I probably could easily pick there as well (I also debated on one trait for both houses that could have upped ether by one, but chose not to add them in), but Hufflepuff edges out a bit more, and makes more sense for me overall.

Instinctual Variant Thoughts

I haven’t really decided how I feel on IV’s. On one hand they seem like they could help explain, but they also seem really broad. I think maybe the issue is how they are presented. Another theory coming.

As it stands, I get the feeling that their almost treated as skills (which is a huge warning sign for me), but I feel like if we’re really going use these, it might be better treated like this:

Because from my own observations, people who seem to be SP last aren’t like incapable of taking care of themselves, or forgetting to drink or anything like that, I think it sound more fitting to treat IV’s more like focus points.

Example: Some one who is sx-so is quite capable of taking care of themselves and tending to sp needs, it’s just not their highest priority (like that friend who always skips meals because they would rather do something else). I think thinking of it in this way it comes closer to like how a human actually behaves. 

So then then the theory would be like people are human and can do, and are aware of all three variants, sp, so, sx, but prioritize some over the other.

Random wondering.

I wonder how people seen me, not so much because I care, but like, curiously.

I can remember as a child always being “in character”, going so far to sign the character’s name to my schoolwork and such. I would stay in character for days, then break, or move to a new character back and forth, again and again.

I did that well into my teens (14-15), then my anxiety/OCD kicked it, and it just sort of fell out some. But it never did go away totally, only instead of characters, it became roles so to speak, “do I want to be whimsical today, sultry, hip, the maiden in the cottage?” It’s all a part of me as a whole, but internally expressed according to mood/interest,etc. An internal personal view of myself. I’m not sure if anyone else sees that in my real life, or if it even shows at all. Does anyone else do this?
