"W-Wait is this even —?"
Beggars couldn’t be choosers and Konoe’s situation left him more towards the “beggar” category. Regardless of his frigid cautions - Konoe was still careful when grabbing onto the Taguel to then subsequently being freed from a freezing prison. His waist and below felt completely numb and no matter how many times he shook after the snow relented from his fur, the feeling couldn’t quite find its way back to the Sanga. This left Konoe with a long sigh emitted and another flop (or face plant) into the ground — or so he would have thought if not for the beastkin right in front of him.
When the ribikan tumbled forward in utter defeat — he was only met with the warmth of the Taguel’s fur. It was comforting none the less though clearly unintentional and he very well couldn’t find the willpower to move after all the exhaustion weighed down his limbs. Not to mention the numbness still leaving him partially immobile. Konoe sheepishly and hastily mumbled an apology to Yarne yet rather than make an effort to detach, he only nestled against the inviting comfort and rest.
And of course, when a ribikan like Konoe found something particularly pleasant, he couldn’t help but purr in mild and modest content.
"Ahh…this is really nice."
Even if his tail had gone a bit frosty, well, it still subtly swayed from side to side in tandem with his purring and an occasional ear twitch. Despite the situation prior, he felt undoubtedly cozy now. He only had Yarne to thank for that and with a soft sigh later did Konoe verbally thank his friend for such consideration, something he wasn’t entirely used to but found in doses perhaps, made him appreciate these actions all the more. "Sorry for making you do that — but you really helped me out just now, thanks Yarne."
Upon pulling the other out of the snow, Yarne had sat back to shake himself off a bit. As careful as Konoe had been, that didn't mean he was used to having his fur pulled like that either! Despite knowing Konoe was there, he was still very much startled when the other fell against him like that... "Konoe..?" Looking back, he arched his neck a little to sniff at and nudge at his friend's cheek.
"Aahh, jeez.. You're freezing..!"
This wasn't the best spot, considering the weather, but Yarne nestled a bit into the snow. With a bit of a shiver, he folded his ears back but still instinctively shifted so he was somewhat curled around his cold kitty friend. Really, he felt a little bad.. It was Konoe's idea for them to play in order to keep Yarne warm, wasn't it? And then this happened.. Still, he figured he'd have enough time to at least warm Konoe up before they moved on. If not, he'd be able to transform one more time anyway.. He'd managed to reason with himself that like this he'd be able to last longer than if he was in his more human state. Especially with the added warmth from his friend.. Whatever warmth that might be anyway.
His ears perked up a little as Konoe spoke and he twitched his nose a little as he listened.
"I.. It's fine, Konoe! I mean, it wouldn't have happened if we didn't play that game.. So I kinda owed you that much, right? Not that I wouldn't have helped you out either way, I mean..."
Another shiver and he huddled a bit closer, resting the side of his head down with a huff. It was strange to him.. A lot of times back home, he'd been alone so it was a new thing to have someone cuddle up so close to him like this. Still, he wasn't going to pull away or anything. Not while it was this cold, especially. "Aahh.. B-But we shouldn't stay out here too long though.. We're right out in the open so it's a lot colder..! If you can climb on I'll carry you somewhere warmer, alright..? I-I won't leave you behind or anything, don't worry." It definitely wasn't getting any warmer..
Still, despite the situation, Yarne was rather cozy as well... If Konoe listened a bit, he'd hear something of a purr emitting from the large rabbit as well. Of course, it wasn't the same as a cat purr.. Rather, at some point Yarne had begun chattering his teeth together in a content manner. Not because he was that cold it was just...
Bunny purring.
The day to day melancholic hums of a Hive City stay were just that — melancholy.
While there were undoubtedly awe inspiring moments between the mundane activities - there was never quite an occurrence like this. Luckily he hadn’t been unnerved by the bump against him, only stumbling a pace or two before the exclamation caught his ears. Clear turned curiously towards the source and tilted gas mask covered face. Inclining over, his arm extended up and tugged away delicately, nervously, slowly at his mask, peeking beyond the confines of his security with exuberant pink colored eyes. His lips parted thrice whilst he decided what to say in response, uncertainty lining his lips.
"Ahh — I apologize but I think you’re mistaken! I didn’t hit you with anything…!"
How could he explain that the collision wasn’t Clear attacking Yaren but an accident! Shuffling from left to right foot, he began to sheepishly explain thus about the situation — laughing awkwardly and simply stating that he hadn’t hit Yarne at all! And in fact, they just just bumped into each other. It was a rather innocent and purposefully vague reply but how could he even begin to reveal to a perfect stranger the actuality of everything? The mere thought unnerved him to his core, anxiety bubbling up in his chest.
Taking a quick exhale, he soon beamed brightly and offered a formal bow and another apology.
"Uwaaaaa, anyway! Please tell me if there’s anything I can do for you in return! Since you were knocked over like that…!!!"
Bumped into each other? He wasn't sure he believed that! Not while he was thrown back the way he had been! Especially while in his bunny form... He just couldn't believe it! The other must have tried to attack him or something... There was just no other explanation!
"Y-Yeah! Right! Like I'll believe you after that."
By now, Yarne had picked himself up off the ground. Rubbing his head in discontent, he mumbled and whined a moment longer about how much it hurt.. "L-Look.. If you're gunna try to kill me now I... Well, you better not! I know a rabbit's foot is good luck but you won't have mine!" There was a hint of fear in his voice but it was under the guise of what one could only guess was supposed to be a more intimidating one.
"Knocked over.. You had to have hit me with something...! If I'd just bumped into you I wouldn't have fallen back like that to begin with! I was... W-Well.. Never mind! If you didn't hit me then what the heck happened, huh?! Are you made of stone or something? Aahh, I'm going to have a huge bump on my head!"
Fidgeting nervously, it was a little clear that he wasn't about to simply accept the apology just yet. "U-Unless... You aren't human. Are you something else? D-Don't come near.. I mean, you didn't even fall over either! I was going pretty fast, you know..." After all, it wasn't every day a taguel came barreling towards you, right? He couldn't have been prepared for it either.. Yarne was certain that he'd caught the other by surprise!
An accident, of course.
"You can tell me what's up with you for starters! Sweet carrots.. It really hurt! My head.. What if I faint from the pain?! I could hit my head again and BAM that's the end of my race!"
Bounding through the park in Sector 6 was always something he enjoyed.. The fresh air.. More of a lack of danger.. And the space there was made it more fun! He leaped and bounded through the grassy areas for some exercise and he'd leave before the time with his Beast Stone ran out so he could get home. It was about that time now and --
"Uuwah!"
It was rare.. But bounding into someone seemed to be something that happened more than he'd initially would have liked! This time was... Well, it was definitely weird. As soon as his big bunny head hit someone's form? He felt more pain than he would have if he'd bumped into a regular human. Hell! He would have knocked a regular human right over! Instead, he'd ended up reeling back and falling on his bunny behind, both front paws over his head.
"Sweet carrots!"
Did he hit a light post? A mailbox? Something like that?! But he was certain that he saw a human! And like that, he'd let his transformation slip and remained lying back on the sidewalk. "Gods..! That was--" Opening his eyes, he realized that the person he'd bumped into was still standing too... But wait...
How?
"Eeeep--"
"Wh-What are you....-- That could have killed me! What did you hit me with?!"

Konoe hadn’t really ever celebrated things like this and he wasn’t entirely sure how these things were supposed to go.
The Ribikan culture worked primarily on seasonal calendars, not month to month — which explained the mating seasons and the festivals. Birthdays weren’t something that were really celebrated at least not to this Ribika. He couldnt’ really remember ever celebrating the day he was born nor could he even remember the exact day or time or even the season. He had made the effort to remember Yarne’s however when he had been told about it.
Which is why on this day and this time, Konoe was here.
"Well, it’s your birthday today."
Now he started to get embarrassed. How was he supposed to do this? — His cheeks burned dark red and honey hued eyes looked to the floor. Konoe dug his sole into the ground and kicked at the air before he gathered his wits. He met Yarne’s gaze steadily and pulled out the first surprise from behind his back and held it out towards Yarne.
"It’s a pillow kind of —you like things like this, don’t you?"
There was a little haste to his next surprise, pulling out a cake that he had gotten for his Taguel friend too. His face was still as red as ever but he had a small curl of his lips, a small laugh following as he handed both to his birthday friend. Even if he was sheepish, he leaned over and up (dam u Yarne for being tall) and bumped their foreheads.
"Happy Birthday, Yarne."
Again, it was just another day for him. A certain day he made sure to keep in mind in order to keep track of his own years but.. Another day, nevertheless. So upon hearing the other's words he felt a little bit of heat rise to his cheeks. Konoe had remembered..? That much was almost surprising but then again, he actually felt a little pleased that Konoe had kept it in mind. Was that selfish..? Either way, he swallowed nervously as Konoe continued. Ah, the other seemed a little flustered as well..
His ears twitched a little bit when the first gift was offered.. "Ah.. Konoe... Shucks, you didn't have to..." Growing more embarrassed, Yarne looked from the pillow back up to his friend again.
"Thank you, I.. I do..."
Carrots were nice.. But just as he was about to say more, he stopped himself when Konoe offered another gift. "Konoe, I..--" His nose twitched a little and he looked at the cake his friend held. It smelled sweet. And delicious... Like.. "Sweet carrots...--" It smelled like carrots! His heart jumped and he looked from the cake to his friend, leaning down a little to meet and bump heads with his cat friend.
"Konoe.. Thank you. Th-Thiis means a lot to me..!"
Taking the pillow first, he lifted it to his cheek and rubbed the fabric against his skin... Soft. And then he looked at the cake and sniffed at it again. Sweet... Getting a little giddy, he looked at Konoe with a sparkle in his eye.
"H-Hey! Come inside, will you? We can share this..!"
