#I've been watching this #its all on youtube #his northern english accent is so garbage lmao but honestly the worst part #by far #is Fanny Thornton #and her stupid pink dress and hilariously bad accent #margaret is also just cardboard #even hannah thornton is dull #period dramas really sucked until the 1990s I swear #3/10 can't recommend even for p stewart #soz picard #but richard armitage as thornton in 2004? sign me the fuck up #even if my big complaint about all these adaptations is that theyve made thornton too mean #in the book (which is AMAZING) he is v vulnerable and tender and sweet #and even in his arguments with Margaret I swear he's just trying to educate her #anyway if you haven't seen the 2004 north and south would highly recommend #or read the book #its worth it #even if it takes a bit to read the 1850s workmen's 'darkshire accents'/speech
