Microchip company ceases operations, pet owners urged to re-register

The Texas-based company, Save This Life, has ceased operations and that could become an issue for pet owners.

Is your pet chipped? They should be. Do you know who made the chip?

Pet RFID chips are so small that there's really only room on them for a serial number. When your lost pet is brought to a shelter or a vet's office, they can scan the chip, read that number, and then type it into a program that draws from a series of linked databases to find your name and phone number. That's how they find you, and tell you that Silly Lilly von Wigglesbottom has gone wandering, and she's safe and sound, and would you come get her, please?

Texas-based Save This Life, which provided chips to vets and shelters all across the US, has all at once and abruptly gone dark; their database is just gone. Their customers were not given warning and so did not know to change their registration to another company. A lot of animals have basically become anonymous now.

If you don't know what company you've been using, call your vet's office and ask what pet chip number they have on file. If the chip number starts with 991 or 900164, it's probably a Safe This Life chip.

If it turns out yours is one of the affected cases, the chip itself will still be fine! There's no need to add another, or anything like that. You'll just need to transfer the number to another company, and your vet should be able to recommend the one that they like the best.

i don't think most people realize how bad things in rafah have truly gotten. we all already know israel has desecrated its own vow that rafah would be the "safe zone" in every way imaginable, but i can't describe how gut-wrenching it is to read about 12 iof soldiers infiltrating the rafah crossing under the guise of an aid truck just a day or so ago. again--they entered rafah with the pretense that they would be supplying starved, displaced people food

this is just now breaking, but i can't fathom how many palestinians got lured out w the promise of feeding their families--only to massacred then and there, never to be heard from again. likely their bodies won't ever be returned to the families. how can anyone read this and not be absolutely horrified

i am constantly thinking about maryam and her family whenever i read up on the news in rafah, so guys please please continue donating maryam's fundraiser. maryam and her toddler children are living in the heart of rafah; in the heart of the destruction and uncertainty and starvation. there is quite literally nowhere else for them to go, unless they raise the necessary funds to meet egypt's exorbitant prices and evacuate. i cannot stress enough how dire and time sensitive this campaign is. maryam's fundraiser has been getting little to no traction, and she truly could use all the help she could get

please please help Maryam. iof killed her father and her brother. they shot her husband and so every single day now she needs to clean his wounds to avoid it from getting infected AND also walk for miles into warzones to get internet connection + food + water AND also care for her brother's orphaned children

i don't know how else to phrase this anymore. it's been a full month of fundraising and Maryam has been shadowbanned without explanation twice. she is so tired and emotionally fraught. please help this young mother and her surviving loved ones live and evacuate.

my wish is that we can help the family get to at least 10k in the next week. the situation in Rafah is only going to escalate further. Maryam will keep trying to evacuate her family via medical exemption but we will need your help to make it happen via raising funds
