so the @artfight discord had an announcement that the official website came out with an "update" regarding the rules, will they finally listen to the artist's who have been supporting and keeping the website running for years?
1. "the rules aren't new" (if "not new" means that the 3D model rule dates back to just 2025 when artfight has been around since the early 2010s, then sure, i guess). @artfight is not even going to address the fact that their wording and the way the rule is now implemented is completely new...thus making it a new rule semantically. even if it isn't new, you guys are enforcing it in a new way. your wording has fundamentally changed the meaning of the rule and how it is enforced.
that's like if i made a rule that said "no oranges," then later i updated it to say "no oranges (the color)," and when people got upset because they thought i meant the fruit, i just said that the rule was always there and it wasn't new. maybe it wasn't, maybe i always intended to have a rule where the color orange wasn't allowed, but my wording changed how my rule was being enforced.
2. no adjustments regarding DNIs and just saying that you can't say DNI beginners, can't ask artists who work with certain mediums not to interact, can't have hateful DNIs, and can't be disrespectful or aggressive.
i truly have to ask why DNIs are a thing on artfight. who are they for? let's think about this. the website as a whole has blatantly stated for years that discrimination is not allowed on artfight. we don't need "DNI transphobes" to know that transphobes aren't welcome in artfight. we don't need "DNI racists" to know that racists aren't welcome in artfight. artfight also states that the DNIs cannot be disrespectful or targeted against specific users.
so then, what are the DNIs for? for internet discourse? genuinely, what is someone going to put for a DNI? what could they possibly put that isn't already a stated/unstated rule in artfight, that isn't disrespectful, that isn't targeted against specific users? if anyone can give any example of a DNI that would fit these parameters, please do so!
3. instead of revising the rule about tracing one's own materials, including self made bases, photographs, body parts, etc, they are proposing changing the definition of tracing. no, i am not kidding. do they not understand that our feedback is about not being allowed to use our own resources, not that they called it tracing?
@artfight, the issue is not that it's called tracing. we don't need a new definition of what tracing is. nobody ever denied that it is tracing. we are saying that not being allowed to trace our own self made materials, such as 3D models that come with the programs we use, 3D models that we create, bases that we create, photographs that we take, and tracing over some of our own body parts for anatomy purposes, is wrong and is not in accordance with the industry standard.
i'm not even going to mention @artfight's extensive delays in getting a feedback form out. it still is not out. i do statistical analysis as part of my degree requirements, and one part of that is creating a survey using minimal materials (such as google sites) that can be spread to many participants. it is not that hard to create a feedback form. artfight has more resources than your average broke university student. google sites exists, the discord exists, we could run polls, we could have a discussion channel - literally anything. you guys haven't even responded to any reblogs or comments on your posts. how are you getting any feedback at all? how are you guys gauging the responses of anybody in a meaningful way?
their tidbit on misinformation is also infuriating. yes, the mods in the discord haven't made those messages that are circulating around. i've barely seen anyone claim those people are moderators. but the fact that they even exist to be circulated at all says there is something seriously wrong with your discord moderation, which i have pointed out numerous times - both in the discord itself and in the reblogs. nobody should be talking to anybody like that. but instead of training your mods and enforcing your moderation, you choose to pass off the blame by just stating that those people aren't moderators. so what? it doesn't matter because they aren't mods?
@artfight, you've officially lost it. i've been around since 2021. i've played this game all throughout high school. when university got busy, i joined the discord and did the mini games so i could keep sharing the joy of creating art with artists online. i'm not playing until these concerns are actually addressed. this update did not do anything to dispel my worries about where this game is heading.
