End of series special – My favourite pictures from the series & overall impression.

Well, we’ve finished all the seasonal birthday pictures. As I mentioned in my last post (link below) I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next. Though, I thought I’d do one last post on this series of pictures. ^-^

My overall impression of this series of pictures is… I’m impressed. ^-^ I love the creativity used to put this series together and the seasonal theme is something I really liked.

I can’t pick just one picture as my favourite out of this series, but there are a couple that stand out to me: ~ Visually: Haruto and Nanjo are tied for this.

~ Unknown reason: Hiragi and Kitahara are tied for this. (I don’t know why they draw my attention; they just do. ^-^)

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Sazanami

Sazanami – 29 Jul: … Okay! That was a surprise. A good surprise, but a surprise nonetheless. I never would have thought of Sazanami surfing, but it does make sense as, as far as I know, he’s the most ‘sporty’ member of the Kao Kai (except maybe for Akatsuki). Also, I love the ‘Ripple’ on his board as it links to his name. ^-^ Another nice picture to add to the season themed collection.

Well… this is the last of the seasonal pictures. All-in-all, a good way to end off I feel. I appreciate that I was surprised by this final picture and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next theme for the boys’ pictures are going to be. ^-^

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Irinatsu

Irinatsu – 27 Jul: Oh no! Brain freeze! Poor Irinatsu. I hope he’s enjoying that shaved ice though. ^-^ I like his yukata’s design. To me it looks like it has a night sky scene on it with one or two shooting stars. Very nice. I see they ‘referenced’ the other Kao Kai members with the four floating cups of shaved ice beside Irinatsu, but… part of me feels that was ‘unnecessary’… It fills in the space next to him, but,… yeah. I feel that could have been different. (Side note: I had been expecting fireworks for his background, but apparently not. It’s fine, but that was just something I’d been ‘expecting’ for at least one of our summer boys. ^-^) All in all, it’s a nice picture, but I feel it’s a little ‘non’. Though, I do really like his yukata design, as mentioned earlier. That’s very nice. ^-^

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Ageha

Ageha – 07 Jul: A sweet little picture. ^-^ It’s nice to see Ageha smiling. The little lamp is cute and his yukata… I think has a butterfly print on it (I can’t really see, as it’s quite small, but it looks like that might be the case and it would be fitting for him). Another nice addition to the seasonal picture series. ^-^

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Shiki

Shiki – 28 Jun: He was a bit of a surprise. When I saw the star on his birthday on Akatsuki’s calendar page picture (back on 05/06) I wondered if we’d get a picture for Shiki when his birthday came along and apparently that’s the case. I’ll be honest… I can’t really say too much about it… It’s an ‘okay’ picture, but… maybe it’ll make more sense when I get to know him in the new season of Starmyu. I really don’t get the little handkerchief ‘ghost’ versions of the other Kao Kai members… But, anyway. ^-^ Looking forward to getting to know this new group of characters in season 3. (Though… what about Chiaki, Fuyusawa and Kasugano? They won’t have a ‘seasonal’ birthday picture as their birthdays – in terms of when this series of pictures started – have already gone by… :( )

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Nanjo

Nanjo – 17 Jun: I was wondering when/if we’d see hydrangeas. ^-^ I like their colours. This is a very ‘seasonally appropriate’ picture from what I’ve heard of Japan’s seasons and weather. I like Nanjo’s rain gear and his umbrella leaf. (It’s similar to the Ayanagi Rainy Season Series of merchandise they did a while back. I guess this is what Team Sazanami’s boys would have looked like.) I’ll be honest though, this pic isn’t the most ‘outstanding’ one of the series so far, but it is still very nice. My favourite element, I think, must be the flowers. I just really love their colours. ^-^ Another charming addition to the Starmyu seasonal birthday series.

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Akatsuki

Akatsuki – 05 Jun: Okay. I didn’t expect this! So sweet. He looks very ‘dapper’ in his suit, doesn’t he? ^-^ I really like the little red bow-tie. The rose arbour in the background reminds me of the scene in S01E11 where he’s having tea with Sazanami and Yuzuriha in that little garden at Ayanagi Academy. Another lovely addition to the Starmyu seasonal birthday series. ^-^

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Ugawa

Ugawa – 19 May: This made me smile. I love the look of wisteria (‘fuji’ in Japanese – which I sometimes say instead of ‘wisteria’ because I’m not 100% sure how to pronounce ‘wisteria’…), so that caught my attention first. Ugawa’s traditional Japanese attire is very nice too. ^-^ Another very nice addition to the Starmyu seasonal birthday series.

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Inumine

Inumine – 05 May: Very sweet. ^-^ (I so called the carp streamers/banners before I saw it. XD) I like the inclusion of the carp streamers/banners and the origami Samurai helmet (at least I think it’s an origami helmet… I, naturally, could be wrong) as they’re symbols of Boys’ Day in Japan. ^-^ Inu looks so happy in this picture and his flying amongst the carp streamers/banners… classic Inu. So sweet. ^-^ Another cute picture in the Starmyu seasonal birthday series.

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Kitahara

Kitahara – 22 Apr: Okay. This made me smile. ^-^ The bunnies are cute, but I really like Kitahara’s expression. To me, he looks like he’s trying to figure out what he’s supposed to do with the egg in his hand. XD (That or, given the spoon in his other hand, maybe he’s trying to figure out how to open it up. If that’s that case, I hope it’s a chocolate egg; unless he really likes boiled eggs… Or maybe he’s about to be part of an egg-and-spoon race… Who knows? ^-^) Though… his bunny ‘costume’ really makes me think of Akatsuki’s ‘costume’ from the 2016 Spring Party… I think it’s the red hair and the bow tie… (Though, I actually like Kitahara’s ‘costume’ more than Akatsuki’s/Kao Kai’s from the 2016 Spring Party…) Anyway. Regarding the bunnies, I like the bow tie on the white bunny (I‘m guessing the others also have bow ties, but we just can’t see them). It’s cute, but… I must ask: why do all the Starmyu bunnies have those creepy red eyes?! It might just be me, but I don’t like the red eyes on these bunnies! I’d let it ‘slide’ if it was just the white rabbit as I know that some white rabbits have pink/red eyes due to their lack of pigment, but… why does the black/charcoal-grey bunny also have red eyes? I think it would look a lot cuter with little black or brown eyes, but… maybe the artist thinks bunnies with red eyes are cute or something… Oh well. They don’t detract too much from the overall picture so it’s okay. ^-^ Another lovely addition to the Starmyu seasonal birthday series. ^-^

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Toraishi

Toraishi – 12 Apr: This is cute. It’s kind of sweet seeing Toraishi watching Mama Duck and her ducklings crossing in front of him. I feel it shows his gentle side. ^-^ I love it when we get to see characters in ‘different settings’ to what we usually do; it lets us get to know them more. (Though… if I’m honest, for pure cuteness in this picture, that little ducky at the end wins! XD Sorry Toraishi, but that little ducky that’s gotten distracted by the butterfly is just too cute!) Overall, a sweet picture.

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Kuga

Kuga – 02 Apr: While waiting for Kuga’s birthday picture to come out, the one thing I hoped for was that they’d given him some food… ^-^ I was so glad to see that they’d, at least, given him a rice-ball! (I’d actually forgotten about the birthday pic coming out, so, when I clicked on the Starmyu twitter to check for any other new pics/posts, I was totally surprised to see Kuga. Needless to say, it was a good surprise. ^-^) It’s a fairly ‘simple’ drawing, but it is really adorable. The things I love about this picture are: (A) Kuga’s happy (look at that little smile on his face while he ‘noms’ on his rice-ball while looking at the sakura!), (B) he’s relaxed and (C) he’s fed (seriously, this boy works so hard, he needs to be fed more). I can’t help smiling as I look at him; so chilled out, enjoying looking at the cherry blossoms and ‘nibbling’ on a rice-ball. Happy Birthday, Kuga-kun. ^-^ (Another lovely addition to the Starmyu seasonal birthday collection.)

Starmyu Seasonal Birthday Picture Review - Taiga

Taiga – 14 Mar: Okay. Too sweet (pun not intended, but it works XD). For those who don’t know, March 14th is called ‘White Day’ in Japan and is like a second Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day in Japan is typically when girls will give guys something – generally chocolate. So White Day is the men’s turn for returning the favour; however, traditionally, they will give biscuits over chocolates. (I recommend looking White Day up for yourselves if you’re curious as I feel I’m unable to give a completely accurate explanation…) Ergo, why Taiga’s surrounded by sweet treats – at least that’s my guess of the meaning behind it. Taiga is one of my favourite members of the Ancients; I love his relaxed nature and his love of food. Though, his being born on White Day is interesting. Does this mean that he now has to give gifts on his birthday and not just receive them? Anyway, that aside, I like this picture of Taiga. I feel it really captures his personality – that cheeky wink and smile is so typically him. ^-^ Another sweet picture in the Starmyu seasonal birthday collection. ^-^
