REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE I didn't really like the movie because I felt it was overdramatic but the portrayal of teenagers and rebellion was great. It reflected some struggles that teenagers go through. It tested the social barriers of life like home, community, and school. It showed the issues of teenage rebellion, which was realistic from this point because as teens we are known rebels.
The photo on the left is the original remix of the snapchat ghost, on the right, is the original with my own remix on it. The photo on the left has been changed to have a UofM t-shirt with its tongue out, whereas in my remix I changed the size, flipped the wording, and inverted the colors. I think the one on the left is more superior because it's the first of the original remix, it's simple and doesn't have much changed.
Language Used As Oppression
Muslim women who wear hijab's are oppressed by society. Society constantly judges and questions them on why they wear what they wear by asking them about their faith, staring at them, ripping them off their heads, and comparing them with the average American woman.
Conquered
Cheerleading has always been apart of my life, I started doing it since 7th grade and fell in love. Once I was in high school I realized their was THE BEST team and a slightly worse team and I wanted to be on the best. But a certain skill refrained and somehow conquered me it was called, the Back Walkover. I worked on it everyday and I didn't seem to improve or get it. This is skill conquered me because it refrained me from achieving my ultimate goal and it seemed like everyone was moving on and improving and I wasn't.
Idea vs. Reality
The idea of graduation is basically a reward and high accolades for working hard throughout our childhood. But reality is, we're done being children, we are full fledged adults who have to take responsibility for our actions. The freedom we had in high school is long gone and on top of that we have another 4-6 years ahead of us that requires even more hard-work and determination.
Epiphany
At the end of eighth grade I was absolutely content with my life and change was the most terrifying thing to me. I had my clique by my side, who I thought would be there til the end, and I was in the transition to becoming a freshman. That summer was the best, it was carefree and seemed never ending. The memories I made were unforgettable but as summer came to a close and another year rolled around I found myself packing for my first big move and somewhat losing my friends. But what I realized is that nothing good lasts forever and that change can be a good thing if you embrace it. If I didn't embrace change I wouldn't be the person I am now and I wouldn't have the people that I actually needed in my life now.
Mask
Once he put on the mask it was like he chose to be an imperialist. In the beginning he was against imperialism and the British but once he sent for the rifle he failed to realize that he became just like the British colony when they took over India in the 1960's
Realization
"Once I found the strength to be myself, I had no need to act myself" He tells us that he was able to reach a point in his life where he was comfortable with who he was, and at that point he no longer portrayed the part of a homosexual, rather he became himself. It was a realization that he didn't have to suppress his true feelings, that he could be himself.
SECONDARY SOURCE #6 All my sources conclude to one thing, once you accept death is only when you can fully start living. You don't hold yourself back anymore, your death enables yourself to start living and seizing the day.
SECONDARY SOURCE #5 Couldn't of said it better myself. When were gone we finally realize the life we could've had, the fun we could've experienced. It's never easy. We take everyday for granted like we're going to see tomorrow so no, we don't stop and think about the life were living, if we were to die "Did we do all we needed to do?" We are a fast paced society to stop and fully think about death and our lives is too much and takes too much time. So we continue to go about our lives and act with no care. It's true our lives our so precious and beautiful, our lives are an amazing thing but they're also limited.
SECONDARY SOURCE #4 The Bucket List is all about two mean fulfilling their wishes before they die. They have come to terms with their death and now just want to live their lives until the time has come. I have learned that once you realize you are dying there are two questions that could help you accept your death, "Have you found joy in your life?" "Has your life brought joy to others?" Finding the joy can help you start moving on with your death and actually start enjoying it.
SECONDARY SOURCE #3 "Heaven’ is about death and finding the strength in knowing that someone had an incredible life and that giving you some type of closure" These are lyrics sung by Beyoncé in her song Heaven. She made this song to help her express her love for her unborn child who miscarried awhile ago. Some people accept death in different ways maybe by throwing a party, cooking food, or creating moving songs.
SECONDARY SOURCE #2 After reading Alicia Garey's story on her accepting death. It seems peaceful and somehow fun. She started with her chemo and realized that she was comfortable with where her life was at and she couldn't live forever.
SECONDARY SOURCE #1 When the living realize they're going to die, they then start to fully live their lives. Death is the most traumatic thing to go through. I chose this article because Diane Gray helps explain why people chose to accept death. She learned that when you accept death early it gives you the time to live your life while you still can and that keeps the dying level headed. Some even chose to have their death celebrated after life.
After really thinking about what my book said about self deception stemming from low self esteem I am starting to agree more. I am thinking that if you have low self esteem you are probably more likely to deceive yourself, but I don’t know if in order to deceive yourself you have to have low self esteem..
I think you're right. With low self esteem I think you deceive yourself to be better than you really are (ego). And when your self esteem is high you are who you are. As in, you're content with yourself, there's no ego because your self deception is actually who you are.

SECOND SOURCE #4 My topic is Family and Relationships and conflict , This is said by Mama Flora at the end of the book. I think this shows how even though family has its ups and downs and difficult circumstances and conflicts between parent and child theres always that one grandparent or parent who who brings the family together. Whose the strength of their family , that faithfully pull their family through. Definitely describes mama Flora and even reminds me of my great grandmother. (via najaeratcliff)
It’s crazy to think that there’s usually always that 1 person that pulls a family together. After a fight or argument or when the family is having a hard time there’s always that 1 person that can pull the whole family back together no matter what. I know for me personally that was my grandmother and when she passed no one really stepped up and took her place to pull the family together during rough times and because of it the family hasn’t been the same since. When looking at family and relationships I would focus a little on the different roles in a family. There’s the glue, the rock, the mediator, the reject, the background, the golden child, and so on.

I agree with this. That one person in my family used to be my mom. When my parents got separated it was like there was a hole in our family. It seemed like she was no longer the glue, it's like we're all going our separate ways,mad if we aren't even a family anymore. So I understand that feeling you got when your grandmother passed because no has stepped up in my family and we aren't the same anymore.

That page was inspirational. It hits home and goes back to the basics. It's honest and real. It's hard to come by things like this nowadays. Everything is for show and is flashy. I understood some of the stories I read and I really connected with the one about Obama and his mother being his biggest supporter because without my mom I would be completely lost. This is a great source.
