AR App for a Pokemon Theme park concept
This idea was inspired by the AR tech they’re putting in to the new Super Mario World theme park inside Universal Parks. It was also inspired by this awesome Pokémon theme park in Japan that no longer exists. And there possibly that Universal is planning to make a Pokémon world within their parks.
You enter the pokémon land area and immediately visit the professor. You pick your starter pokémon buddy, and he shows you (in character of course) how to download the park app and gives you AR goggles to wear while at the park. (You may purchase a pokémon egg from him as a souvenir/toy but only in the morning hours.)
Your AR goggles allow you to see your pokémon buddy walking around in the real world. He reacts to pats, and will follow you around wherever you go.
If you select snack mode he will sit still and pretend to eat whatever you place in his face. There can be other interactive play modes like this.
In tour guide mode you can request park navigational assistance from your buddy. He can lead you along the path, anywhere you ask. He’ll wait for you if you fall behind.
Ride with me mode might be too difficult to do with AR tracking tech. Basically the buddy would sit in your lap as you ride rides.
In certain parts of the park you will encounter wild pokémon, somewhat like playing pokémon go. You can capture them but have only one extra pokémon following along with you. That way your buddy can stay with you always, even if you’re excited about other pokémon in your inbox.
Other trainers in the park wearing AR goggles can see your pokémon in the same exact places and poses that you see them. When 2 goggles face eachother you will be asked if you would like to have a trainer battle. The more trainer battles you win the more pokeballs you get. And the more pokémon you collect and battles you win, the more likely someone may evolve.
At the end of the day or the end of your theme park stay, you can download your pokémon into Pokémon Home and take them with you.
If you purchased an egg, the professor will use his key/ specialized tool to “hatch” it, since you carried it around the park for at least a day. It will be a random pokémon plush or interactive toy.
You can open the app at home too and see your pokémon travel with you in AR via your phone or other devices you own.
To add to this, there should be a clothing shop or 2 where the workers help little kids put together a special outfit for a “match your pokemon” fashion show. They coach you to do one of like 7 poses with a plush of your fav, and at the end you can buy your outfit or put together a different one you wanna buy. The fashion show is optional but if you do it you win something exclusive like a little award or pin or trophy.
There should also be an artist kind of like caricature artists, but this one draws you in the pokemon style with your starter in your outfit.
When you walk in the large building on the right is the science building, there’s multiple rooms so each small group can meet an actor playing the professor one on one. Restrooms and info booths and things will be on the left. A playground is straight ahead past the fountain.
I’m revisiting this last idea I drew and clearly it needs revision. What if its 4 science buildings, multilevel, for the huge flow of people. Multiple battle zones you schedule battles at. Even some on the roof. The buildings can be colorful and the queues can have characters come by to visit with you and introduce you to their partner pokemon and things…
Also there should be scheduled battles at battle arenas and gyms so you dont have to wait in line.
And interactive AR rides where your partners use their attacks on interactive ride elements!
Im caffinated and I cant stop thinking about this so I'm revising it.
The entrance with 4 science buildings maybe they can be themed around different professors or regions or elements or even kinds of pokemon research.
Schedule a time for your pokemon battles if you like. I'm debating having different terrain because theres actual terrain variation in the park later on.
Rides have interactive elements for your app/pokemon. You can purchase a video of your gym matches and your master ceremony or fashion shows if you like. These videos are one of a kind because they have the AR footage of your pokemon and nice angles and edits you wouldnt be able to film yourself.
I'm debating if gym leaders should be human actors or AR virtual characters from the games and show.
The earlier gym badges are from direct battles with gym leaders, but some are from interactive areas of the park, and some are won from rides. For smaller children or kids afraid to try the rides there are junior badges you can obtain more easily. They win the title of Junior Master if they get all 8.
Once a day, someone might spot a Mew teleporting around the park having fun. Other mythical might spawn in similar ways. If you're fast you could catch it. If you cant catch it, you'll get a little digital souvenir in your app for spotting a rare sight.
I'm not sure we need a safari zone but it would be made to look like pokemon are roaming wild areas full of trees while you walk along the smooth paths.
A very rough idea if the layout.
Each area has unique snacks to buy related to its terrain.
I realized for this to have as many things as I'd like it would have to be a pretty big park. The hike might be difficult for some, so there are lots of ways to catch a free ride .
I love the idea of a kid riding in Kangaskahn's pouch while it pulls a rickshaw lol. There can be a little harness in there and it would move slow. The wheels would be behind its legs and it can seat 4 people in the rickshaw area, maybe 2 kids in the pouch lol
Onyx is built like a small train dragging cars but it's on wheels with a driver up front steering instead of on a track.
The Corviknight monorail is on a track overhead, and it flies a huge circle around the park as a monorail should.
Ride and interactive area ideas aside from Gym battle themed ones:
Whack a Digglet
Carrousel
Dynamax Adventure Coaster
Legendary pokemon themed rides. If you get enough points on them you catch the legendary.
Interactive spot the mythical areas tucked away in unexpected places.
Puzzle area with unknowns that is next to toddler play area.
Underground tunnel in the rock area with cave pokemon.
AR side quests to save injured or in danger pokemon and help (human actress) nurse joy at the pokemon center. The hurt pokemon will want to join you afterward.
Meet and greet areas for Ash and certain popular characters other than gym leaders who you meet near or in their gyms. Maybe you meet these characters in queues for popular rides. Theyre separated from you by a small wall so they can walk along the queue and talk to you?
Side quests at the pokemon groomer where you bathe pokemon, cut hair, trim nails, and brush teeth for real customers (other park patrons).
Side quests where you protect the city, a rare pokemon, or the whole world, from team rocket.
Its big and ambitious but hey, it's my fantasy theme park. Also it's in North Dallas so I get to go there. UwU
