I put on my Tinder profile that I hate sports, I don’t drink beer and I’m 150% feminine all day all the time and so many guys are like…offended? One guy was like “what if the guy you like loves sports, you won’t even watch with him?” And I asked “will you wake up at 8am during fashion week to watch live streams of shows with me because that’s what I’m really interested in. And he said “I don’t really find that interesting.” And I’m like THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD I CARE ABOUT SPORTS FOR YOU OMG.

I had some oral surgery this morning and now I am in A LOT of pain and also high on painkillers so sorry in advance for typos.

I have been thinking all morning about how ridiculously lucky I am in to be in this immense pain, because the alternative is to be in a lot of pain for the rest of my life. (Because of chronic infection, my bone beneath my teeth actually grew OUT OF my gum. It’s pretty hideous. But it’s addressable–if you have access to excellent medical care.)

So anyway I started a fundraiser over at save the children for kids affected by the Syrian Civil War. STC is doing so much to get those kids access to education and health care and nutrition, and I hope you’ll join my team, “Nerdfighters opposed to human suffering including but not limited to John’s mouth.” I’ll match all of your donations up to $20,000.

So my friends have a little boy, he’s like 2.5 and they’re already teaching him about consent. He has this friend at daycare, a little girl, and the other day he wanted to hug her goodbye but she didn’t want him to, and his dad said “No, buddy, not everybody wants hugs and she doesn’t so you have to just wave goodbye.” He was sad and confused for a sec but then he was just like “K bye” and waved. Later that night, he tried to pet the cat but she ran away and he was just like “[cat’s name] just wave bye, not hug!” Like he got it. Immediately. Teach kids about consent as early as possible. They’ll get it.
