You really love to see old gay n trans people supporting young gay n trans people. You absolutely adore it
He's bisexual which I feel is so important considering that bi people have the lowest rates of participation in the LGBT community (as in, are usually closeted or alienated, bi men especially) so it's so good to see an older bi man making himself visible like thisđĽ°đĽş
Do any of you know about that one painting with Aphrodite being born out of lava with a black swan by her side or did i completely hallucinate that? Been searching for a while but i canât find it for shit.
I tried googling that description but no luck either, anyone might know what painting this might be (or if it does exist? cause it sounds sick lol)
It took a bit of googling magic, but I think Iâve found it.
This is âKindledâ by Laura K. Cannon, which is part of her portfolio that can be found here: http://navate.com/2wk6im1sartc92iwza7il07bxq2mk5
Is this what you were looking for? @sakyubaso
Iâm in love.
Y'all Iâm-
the original artist states:
âThis went kinda viral on tumblr and people are arguing whether itâs a painting of Aphrodite. Itâs not. If she must be a goddess, I think sheâd be Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire.
But it doesnât depict anyone specifically. After some soul-searching I realize that, while I wasnât thinking about it at the time, itâs a painting about battling depression. I live with MDD so the idea of emerging from the depths is a powerful thing for me.
Is she being born from the lava, or is she climbing out of Hell? I think itâs both.â
so. not Aphrodite, but someone beautiful nonetheless
Seeing biblical teachings being reversed into conservative teachings is one of the funniest things holy shit. Like this makes it painfully clear that Jesus taught the exact opposite of all these things yet conservatives in the US wanna call themselves âmen of godâ.
Thereâs a French BD/comic series currently being published about her!
I actually had heard of her, but thanks for the reminder!
I knew about her but mostly because I live in Poland and my high-school was very determined about teaching us about the real heroes of the war and the history of what happened, especially here in Warsaw.Â
9 Famous Faces On The Struggles and Beauty of Being Afro-Latino
Afro-Latinos face many challenges when it comes identity, particularly when people refuse to believe that being Black AND Latino arenât mutually exclusive experiences.
The Latino identity denotes an ethnicity, which means that Latinos exist in every color and race imaginable â and explaining the difference between race and ethnicity can be quite a cumbersome task to take on on a daily basis. And yet, many Afro-Latinos are often forced to do so after being told theyâre not âLatino enoughâ or being asked to choose between being Black and Latino.

Afro-latin@s struggle with being ignored by the media because for some reason people donât believe you can be both Latino and Black. This is why thereâs so much controversy when it comes to race and ethnicity. People try to paint Latin@s as this light brown or even white skinned when there are many dark skinned Latin@s. They are in all parts of South America, Central America, the Caribbean, & in North America (Mexico). Unfortunately, these folks arenât represented in the media much and we have portrayed Latin@s in a certain way that has shaped the thoughts of others when they hear that word.
^ Say that. Thereâs the blatant erasure by the media, as well as the fellow Latinxs who shun blackness. Then thereâs the serious lack of knowledge by people who still donât understand the clear difference between race and ethnicity, and assume Black means âAfrican Americanâ (which it does not), so as a result they question your identity. Race does not denote oneâs ethnicity/ethnicities. Latinxs do not have a specific look or skin color. There are sooooooo many brown skin Latinxs out here.

It got betterrrrr. This makes me so happy
My mom crocheted a blanket, and one of the cats kept trying to lay on it the whole time she was working on it and every time she put it down.
So she used the extra yarn to make him a tiny one and he loves it so much đ
I found a company called âFrantic Meerkatâ who makes journals whose sole purpose is to call me out

How To Spot & Help Someone Dissociating.
What dissociation can look like (it exists on a spectrum :D) :Â
- Staring vacantlyÂ
- Spacing outÂ
- Being unable to focus/respond properlyÂ
- Being unable to speakÂ
To support someone who dissociates, itâs best to:
- Orient them to the present by reminding them where they are and what was happening when they were having trouble staying present.Â
- Help encourage slow breathing.Â
- Remind them to keep their eyes open and look around the room.Â
- Encourage them to notice physical sensations.Â
- Offer verbal reassurance in a calm voice.Â
- Avoid asking complex questions. (Instead, ask simple things to try to connect. âAre you with me?â âCan you stay present with me?â)
- Allow them the necessary time and space to regain their equilibrium.Â
To everyone that supports someone suffering from dissociation, you are appreciated and so important <3
how fucked up is it that in the future you could stumble upon internet threads and the timestamps would be âone century agoâ like imagine that⌠youre reading the words of these people, their conversations and their lives all perfectly laid out from over a century ago. and they say shit like âmario has the best nintendo feetâ and thats just been sitting there for a centuryÂ
seriously though, imagine a teenager in like 2113 diving into the early internet out of boredom or for a school project or something and he comes across your blog that you stopped posting on around 2024 but they cal still see all your posts, all your thoughts, your silly convos with your friends, all the stupid discourse you were in, all your interests, the art and writing youve posted/reblogged, everything about you just right there. they impossibly stumbled onto such an obscure corner of the internet, sure to be much more wide and advanced than it is today, and they can peer into your life for just a bit, even though you died ages ago. its like they found your ghost, a small imprint you left online, they found you, you might be gone but youre also right there.
Could be nothing⌠goddamn it, itâs something

In 2017, a Christian couple pull their 6yo son out of a primary school because his classmate is transgender - citing their âtraditional beliefsâ  IMPORTANT NOTE: Last source is transphobic and from a pro-life website that attempts to defend the dumb ass couple. Feel free to ignore it if you prefer, but it was included for the sake of accuracy.Â
