+   shinsou’s grades prior to the sports festival are low to middling  ;  this is mostly a result of just ... he’s in general studies  ,  he doesn’t want to be  ,  his desire to succeed and his interest just isn’t there  ---  what matters to him is success in the sports festival  ,  which can cause him to be transferred to the hero course  .   of course  ,  that isn’t how the sports festival goes  ,  and shinsou is not immediately transferred to the hero course  ...

+   but his grades and his physical prowess both go up after the sports festival  ;  shinsou cares more though he does keep level in the average to above average area depending on the subject  (  he excels in language - based subjects such as japanese and english  )  and he starts training in his downtime  ,  so he won’t have the same disadvantages whenever the next sports festival comes around  .   this is my personal headcanon  ,  so i don’t expect others to follow it  ,  but i believe aizawa is offering tips and plans to shinsou  --  and that’s where his workout plan comes from  .
