after two weeks of korean class, im feeling much less rusty ((and embarrassed!!!)) with my skills. it's clear that i haven't spoken in a while and my vocabulary is severly lacking but it's been fun learning. i can tell that im learning more and more because it's becoming easier to create conversation at length this class is based on the king sejong institute curriculum and i tested into conversation 2 which is their level four? so i'm going back in the text and workbook to pick up on vocab i dont know ((theres a lot!!)) i updated my quizlet though if anyone wants to take a look!

it's been forever since i've logged in here and i have so much to update. i made it through my first semester of grad school with all A's, im working from home fully, i've started korean again, i'm reading again ((i read 30!!!! books last year)), and there are so many more hobbies i plan on starting this year.

with so many changes happening, i just hope that i can be as consistent as possible with my learning for 2022. ill be updating with my new language learning plans and grad school resources over the next few days <3

why the heck is notion so hard to learn and!!! why is it so hard to find the perfect template!

ive found one that perfects for my future grad school studies but i cant find anything that's even adjustable for my research/retention work?? but tbh i dont even know what i need for the type of work i do it's so weird

how is it that i forget the format for my posts every time i log onto this site lmao

so im registered for classes! this upcoming semester ill be taking four classes technically but two of the classes are consecutive six-week classes?? this is apparently something new that the uni is doing since restructuring their core curriculum and we're only the second class that will be experiencing it

otherwise, i'll have one online and three in-person, and i'm honestly really excited. i miss the vibes associated with campus, and with more and more people in my area getting vaccinated, i feel even more safe with attending school this fall.

i do hope that we have a chance to experience a casual mixer with our classmates. i wanna meet people! but maybe the graduate exp is a bit different from the undergraduate one lmao.

just got the email that my sophas app has been accepted by my school! now to wait 4-5 more weeks so the admissions committee can review my materials ^^;

i honestly think my statement of purpose was very weak so im hoping my past experiences and education make up for it

how does one even prep for possible admission? just sit there and quietly twiddle their thumbs? i suppose ill have more to do once they send me the admission packet

it's been a minute but hi im back hehehe i think it's been about two months since ive been on this blog but while ive been absent, i actually applied to grad school! i submitted my full application about two weeks ago and have been to some open houses/information sessions since then. yall cross your fingers for me pleaaaaase >.< im so nervous about getting in but im getting several things prepped just in case.

my korean/spanish journey hasnt been going well but tbh ive been very distracted by the amount of work and travel that my job has required lately

anyways i did borrow like three books from the library so im excited about that!

actually i might take the rest of tonight to add some more to my blog. i want it to start reflecting my journey and transition into grad school so maybe a sidebar of the classes im taking?? my goals??? advice? idk i feel like the gradblr community here, especially for health sciences/public health, is very quiet

and just like that all our snow has melted away! i woke up this morning to a light covering of snow and it lasted most of the day. it felt nice being able to just cuddle up in bed all day with my heating pad and do some retention work. this was one of my most productive days in a while. it seems like when i have more time to be leisurely in the mornings, i have a more productive day overall?? but ugh that means i’d have to start waking up at 5:30. we will see 

i don’t have much else to say today because i dont have much planned besides some more work, cleaning, and hair care. i might do some light reading tonight but who knows!

winter storm warning today!!!! so im stuck working from home for the next two days possibly. im from the south so our gov’t and infrastructure isn’t set up to handle things like this :( i hope everyone stays safe 

i felt kinda guilty about calling out because the weather is actually fine right now but they expect it to get worse around 10 and i dont want to be stuck in a clinic for two days 

this past weekend was supposed to be spent doing my SOP but tbh i spent most of it cleaning and playing video games. but oh oh oh!!!!!! i finally bought a desk, a chair, and a bookcase !! now my room will feel more like home and ill be more productive. perhaps a desk pic once i get everything together?

ALSO im thinking about changing my ACNH language to korean? it might be frustrating as hell but ill learn some more casual, everyday words

we’ve got a statement of purpose draft going!!! finally!!! it’s a jumble of thoughts really but i’m just happy im feeling motivated to write. also i dont know how to be more casual on posts like this lmao like? i always feel so stiff and formal whenever i update here. or like im not telling enough that’s truly interesting. 

anyways it’s hard for me to conclude this SOP because im supposed to tell what my long term career goals are and i dont know anymore? this is the real reason i want to go to grad school again. i feel out of touch and unfocused with my goals and aspiration. i want to focus on reproductive and sexual health but what does that mean? should i go towards a director role? an educator role? is this something i can even put in my statement of purpose?

happy new year y’all! i haven’t posted in a while and lmao btw did i mention that i cancelled my GRE test? i thought critically about it and decided that i was reenacting the same circumstances and environment that gave me my average scores last time so!!! i’m just going to rely on my job and volunteer exp as well as my personal statement and letters of recommendation to get me through the application process! the deadline isn’t until august 2021 but i will probably get my application in by the end of march?? meanwhile i’m getting back on the korean/spanish route. i’m revamping my goals and my study plan quarterly to adjust to my ever-changing lifestyle! so look out for that if you all are interested 

reading wise! i cannot believe i met my reading goal for last year! i read 15 books and like that’s a lot to me. i lost my passion for reading for a long time due to stress, academia, and family commitments. so reading 15 completely new books last year was amazing. i was so proud of myself. :) this year’s goals is 30 and i’m already two down~
