i think i may actually move kate to a separate blog that i'm in the slow process of setting up but i don't intend to drop any threads and will still be active on the main attached to this blog so i'll likely just swap everything over so if you owe replies or starters from me / we have threads going they'll still happen !

i don't think kate is a video game person but i can wholly see her loving to watch the guys : prob heavy on javi or boone play games . she's a great audience member because she asks questions , sometimes occasionally unneeded ones but isn't a backseat gamer .

“a conference?   color me intrigued.”   curiosity brimming in his icy hues as they study the petite blonde,  trying to figure out what it is that she does for a living.   is she a scientist?   a doctor?   his own resume doesn’t seem half as interesting now —   a college student by day,  a wannabe writer by night.   “was it a good one or a waste of time?   the conference,  i mean.   heard with most events like that there’s no in between,  really.   it’s always either life-changing or completely useless,”   he muses with a smile,  reaching into the pocket of his shorts to pull out his phone.   he’ll have to turn off that audiobook,  after all.   “maybe i could give you a free sightseeing tour then?   to make up for that unique introduction?”   how he nearly knocked her over.   but his stomach begins to growl at the mere idea of moving on with this day without proper breakfast and a cup of black coffee,  so he finds himself adding,   “have you had breakfast yet?   if not,  we could grab some food first?”   slipping his phone back into his pocket,  he gives kate his undivided attention again.

as she begins to tell him about her job,  he understands how silly and childish he must have sounded with that any cool shapes comment and wants to kick himself.   cheeks flushing,  eyes glancing down at his white nikes.   what a fool he is,  but hey that’s one way to make an everlasting impression on a beautiful woman.   “whoa,  that must be such a cool job.  so you just travel around the country and analyze different clouds?”   he playfully teases,  just trying to conceal his embarrassment.   “yeah,  definitely a starfish,  and right next to it?   that’s an ice cream cone.   patrick star havin’ ice cream for breakfast this morning.”   he shields his blue eyes from the sun with one hand while pointing with the other,  his chest expanding because for a second or two it almost feels like they’ve known each other for ten years rather than ten minutes.   he doesn’t even notice the awkward pause,  shaking his hand and laughing at her joke about jogging.   “i’m glad to know you don’t have to run away from things often,  that’s a relief.   and as for the park,  it’s on the west side.   long walk from here,  unfortunately.   i used to live in that neighborhood with some friends when i first moved to chicago.”

" mhmm . " kate affirms , not certain how to explain what exactl she did anymore . storm chase ? develope storm dissolving tech ? study weather ? " business proposal for work , we're scouting for ethical investors in our research . it was fine , nice to get new views . " and despite loving oklahoma , it was nice to get out of tornado alley for once . she loved her home and her work , undeniably so but the little work venture had given kate the opportunity to travel somewhere outside of the south and new york city . contemplating his offer , kate loses his gaze for a moment considering her options . she did not know him , not well but if the sight seeing turned out to be not what she hoped there was plenty of easy outs and he seemed too sweet for his own good . like a spoonful of sugar in your tea . " i certainly wouldn't mind a cup of coffee . "

turning back to the clouds , a smile tugs at her lips searching for anything else that looked like more than a blob . " if only storm clouds came in an exciting variety of shapes . make my job much more appealing . " tilting her head , kate squints ignoring the glare from the early morning sun as she seeks out the ice cream cone . " oh i see it . the rest kind of just look like blobs , i like 'em when they get all gloomy and dark but those are real nice too . " turning back to face him , kate gives him a short nod . not certain how her curious wandering had gotten her a coffee encounter . " where'd you recommend for coffee near here then ? "

addy can still feel kate's fingers grasping hers, can remember being pulled away sharp as the debris that crashed into her, but she can remember when she woke up being terrified both for herself and for kate and jeb trapped under an overpass, praveen who was just gone .. for all she knew they could have been already gone, but she would feel it .. she would know just know if kate was gone and she wasn't, she couldn't have been. with every hold of kate's hand, every night where she can hear soft breathing across the room, hear kate's laugh in the trucks that terror fades just enough, " uh huh, that's it, " addy teases, biting back a laugh as she watches kate still with her hands on hips, a mimic of tyler the same way tyler picked up kate's habits and honestly, she was ready to start making bets with boone on who noticed first, " you have a lot of faith in him, kate, 'sides i'm the one who has to repair it, you could always help me out, pretty sure you could pick it up. "

losing everyone else had nearly killed her . it turned kate into a shell of the person she'd once been so full of light , fueled by hopes and dreams that would be crushed by several hundred mile winds . she did her best not to think of it , not to return back there but sometimes she still feels that pang of fear in her stomach --- letting her mind linger too closely to the thought of having lost addy too .

" lucky guess . " the blonde shrugs , head tilted to the sky --- hands still on her hips as if they were still on track of their original goal . " faith is a word . " but no matter how she denies it , a quiet voice in the back of kate's mind nags her , reaffirms that addy is likely right . she often was when it came to reading kate . " i think i'd be more of a detriment to the cause but i'm happy to provide support in snacks . "
