this is so specific and niche but i love birds and i hope yall enjoy

red bellied woodpeckers - raichi. always announcing their presence. generally get along well with others. sometimes a lil bit goofy.
downy woodpeckers - kurona. guy who has never done anything wrong in his life. a little timid. patient. precious.
hairy woodpeckers - nanase. basically kinda like the other guy but slightly bigger.
starlings - sendou. pretty and a little annoying and always picking fights but also soooo easily startled. bright yellow beak. fashionista
cooper's hawk - shidou. attacked a bird on my roof before hanging out on the power line. another one downed a mourning dove in my yard. probably a bit of an asshole but like I'M not gonna tell him that yk. very pretty and sharp.
white-breasted nuthatch - gagamaru. likes to hang upside down at the feeder, clearly a free thinker. comes around on occasion but rarely hangs (ha) around.
dark-eyed junco* - niko. king of staying in their lane. smol. good boys. would befriend.
american goldfinch* - anri. the most classic bird for there to be. like this bird Should be here. obviously. and yet i almost never see them. extremely pretty. (edited bc i realized i had shared a baltimore oriole instead of the goldfinch)
rose breasted grosbeak - hugo. rare sighting, very striking (ha). show up, eat, leave. very efficient
white-crowned sparrow* - that new b-side guy haneru. this guy looks exactly like the house sparrow but for some reason has a little crown. sure dude whateverrrrrrr keep trying u will never be him !!!!
honorable mentions (other wildlife):
coyote - lorenzo. extremely chill. just sorta shows up and hangs out for a bit. good big pretty doggos, 10/10 would pet and immediately get my hand bit off.
bunny - bunny
squirrel - charles. continually refuses to be baffled by the bafflers (i mean, they get baffled, but they do keep trying). watched one genuinely consider launching itself off my roof to get to the bird feeder

red wing blackbird - isagi. the most main character ever. the yapper of all yappers. even when there's nobody around to yap at he's monologuing. always picking fights
cardinals - barou. red, spiky hair, not going out of his way to pick fights but definitely a bit of a bully.
house sparrows - karasu. ordinary looking but ubiquitous, he is everywhere for those with eyes to see. always picking a fight like holy shit ALWAYS fighting (especially other house sparrows). and yapping the biggest yappers for sure, tied with the blackbirds. but also like. that's just a little guy. look at how cute he is.
house finches - bachira. cute little guys who have never done anything wrong except bother everyone and yap incessantly. smol.
mourning doves - otoya. this is just bc he's pigeon coded and these guys are basically pigeons.
robins - chigiri. always running around on the ground. why are u doing that boy. otherwise they mostly stay in their lane, which is a respectable trait.
grackles - rin. big. take up space. do things they shouldn't (i'm looking at you 'bird feed designed to deter grackles' that they eat all the time). pretty. other birds tend to steer clear. i'm not sure if it's the grackles or blackbirds bullying the bigger birds (seagulls, crows, various birds of prey) but frankly it could be both
brown-headed cowbirds* - sae. sounds like it should be ordinary. as a hallmark of its species, it grows up away from home. looks hilariously like it should be related to grackles except its head is the wrong color. only shows up on occasion, not a regular visitor.
blue jays - kaiser. blue. spent like six months refusing to show their face except in the distance and now want to eat at my feeders literally every day. gorgeous. long tail. i want to impress them so bad
northern flicker - luna. i refer to him as the northern fucker. nobody wants to be around him (i actively watched a mourning dove scoot away from him on the power line). way too big to be at the hanging feeders but that's where he wants to be. pecked at my roof. hate that guy even though he's like objectively a pretty bird.

meow! got to participate in @lockoffzine and made a desktop sized itoshi drawing (+ a more colourful nonanimated version) which you can get in not-tumblr-compressed quality here. i can no longer count the number of animations i've done on one hand! i did this one so unbelievably inefficiently! one day i'll learn.
this thing has been my desktop background for like seven months now (that's what i get for finishing so early) and i can confirm it's cute and relaxing to look at :)

He kicks off with a huff, already regretting the gym shoes - they skid and slip on the mud, making his moves sloppy, then reserved once he figures out how to counter it, and he bares his teeth against the sudden onset of nerves.
