You walk into your downstairs bathroom with one clear task in mind; wash day.
As nice as the maintenance and self-care was, you dreaded it immensely. It was an all day affair and you could kiss any other plans goodbye. You figured if you start in the morning and not procrastinate until the afternoon, like you normally do, you would finish early. But you’re not holding your breath.
“Morning darlin’. You’re up mighty early today.”
Instantly, your mood is lifted as your favorite shower (your only shower) greets you. Setting all your products and other hair tools on the ledge of the sink, you look at Johnny with a smile on your face. “Hi Johnny-baby.” You reply, moving close to give him a peck on the cheek. The way his face flushed, a blush spreading across his cheeks and creeping to the tips of his ears made you smile more. But you choose not to comment on it, lest he turn into a tomato all together. You know he’s a sucker for nicknames, both giving and receiving them, so you never miss the opportunity. Clearing his throat once, as if that will dispel the heat on his face, Johnny nods to the heap on the sink. “Wash day?” He hums, chuckling as you groan. Being your shower and all, Johnny is more than familiar with the ordeal that is your wash day. But this time is different, you can see and hear him now. All the times he’s wanted to help but simply couldn’t, now was his chance. If only he could muster up the courage.
“What's going on in that head of yours?”
Johnny tensed at the sound of your voice, you always seemed to know when he was thinking too hard. You tilted your head slightly, encouraging him to spill, silently reveling in the confused expression on his face. The shower seemed to be oblivious to the fact that he wore his heart on his sleeve, taking your basic perspective skills as some sort of magical gift. “Well, I… I was wonderin’ if I could possibly– and feel free to say no sugar, I won’t take no offense–” Johnny starts, his eyes focused on the bathroom tile, deliberately looking away from you. You take hold of his wrist, looking him in the eyes. “Baby, just spit it out. You’re going in circles.” You interrupt gently, as much as you love to hear him talk, he’ll skip around the point for eternity if you let him.
He lets out a dry chuckle at your words, he knows you’re right but god, was he nervous as all get-out. “Would you be kind enough to let me help out? With wash day that is?” Johnny breathes, vaguely gesturing to the products. Before you can even respond, he’s speaking again. “It’s just I know how hard the washin’ can be. And I reckon you’d like some help. But, of course, you’re free to decline– like I said darlin’ you won’t hurt me.” He rambled, his forehead pressed against the shower head, his gaze once again deviating from you. Letting out a giggle, you cup his cheek in your hand, gently guiding his face to you. “Johnny. I would love your help. Thank you for offering, you’re so sweet.” You hum, kissing the tip of his nose before moving back. You couldn’t help but laugh some more as he subconsciously leaned closer as you pulled away.
Deciding that you’ve procrastinated long enough, though talking to Johnny is worth it, it’s time to hop to. You grab the bottom of your pajama shirt and lift it over your head. Johnny, being the gentleshower he is, turns away as you undress. It’s funny really, he’s definitely seen you naked more times than you can count given that he’s a shower. Though, you wonder if he turns away everytime. Soon enough, your clothes are in a heap in the corner and you step into the shower. The space is small, as most showers are. Your body is damn near pressed against Johnny’s, with little wiggle room. You’ve never actually showered with Johnny when he’s awakened but oddly enough; you’re not nervous. You can’t say the same for him though.
His body is rigid, his eyes darting everywhere but at you, and it’s almost like he’s afraid to breathe in your general direction. You figured given what he is, this would be no different than usual but clearly you were wrong. “Listen Johnny, we don’t have to do this. I understand if you’re not ready to see me.. like this. Don’t sacrifice your comfort for my sake.” You state, feeling slightly self-conscious, though you know you have no reason to be. Your comment instantaneously grabs Johnny’s attention. It almost gives you whiplash, the way his blue-green eyes stare at you, like he wasn’t avoiding your gaze moments ago. “Now you wait just a goshdarn minute sugar. I’ll admit; my heart’s racin’ like a coon dog in heat–” You snicker, making him smile, “but that ain’t got nothing to do with you darlin’. Why it’s about me being too doggone nervous around someone as ravishing as yourself. ‘Specially in such an intimate setting.” Johnny explains, his cheeks flushing slightly, as if he just remembered the situation at hand.
“Are you sure?”
“Hon, I'm sure as the day is long.”
Now it was your turn to be flustered. This tone shift from nervous to confident was unexpected but not unwelcome. You turn on the water and adjust the temperature, water cascading down both you and Johnny. Before you put any product in your hair, you always wash first, otherwise the product makes your skin dry afterwards. As if reading your thoughts, though you’re sure he just memorized your routine, Johnny plucks the pink loofah off his chest without a second thought. “You can take stuff off?” You ask, mildly bewildered. Johnny lets out a hearty laugh, “Well, I’m a shower ain’t I?” He replies rhetorically, grinning boyishly as you look away. “Aw baby doll, don’t go gettin’ shy on me now. You ain’t got nothin’ to be embarrassed about, it was an honest question.” He reassures, getting the soap and lathering the loofah thoroughly. Deciding to not embarrass yourself further you reach for the loofah but Johnny holds it just out of your reach. “Now hold on sweet thing, I know I said I’d help with your hair washin’ but do you mind granting me the honor of washin’... all of you?” He asks, his southern drawl becoming more pronounced.
For a moment you just open and close your mouth like a fish out of water. Where was the guy that was just too nervous to look at you? Where did he store this sudden confidence? As you pondered on how fast Johnny can switch tunes, he was overthinking. “Shoot, that was too far, wasn’t it? I swear, I always end up puttin’ my foot in my mouth.” He mutters to himself, completely oblivious to your flustered but willing state. “No no no, Johnny. I-I’d like that, a lot actually. You just…caught me off guard.” You explain quickly. He looks at you through the wet ringlet curls that cling to his face, “You ain’t just sayin’ that to make me feel better? ‘Cause I won’t do anythin’ you don’t want me to do.” He declares, his voice stern. You shake your head, wordlessly taking his hand that held the loofah and pressing it to your chest.
“I want you to.”
“...you sure?”
“As the day is long, right?”
You could’ve sworn that you saw hearts form in his eyes at your words. Johnny, smiling like he just won the lottery, takes the loofah and starts rubbing it against your collarbone. The soap lathers as he does so and you smile at his concentrated expression. His touches are soft and careful, being mindful of intimate areas by constantly asking if he was good to continue. He hummed a tune from some song you didn’t recognize as he worked, the consistency of it almost like a lullaby. It wasn’t until he leaned down to your ear to tell you to turn around did you snap out of your trance. “Don’t go gettin’ sleepy on me now, we still gotta wash that hair of yours.” He chuckled, his hands gently taking hold of your hips and turning you around. Your back was facing his front, as he resumed washing you. The loofah gliding back and forth, from your shoulders and slowly making its way down.
Johnny’s touches were innocent, you know that much, but you couldn’t help but feel warm all over. The whole ordeal was tender and soft, but you would be lying if you said your mind didn’t wander elsewhere. “Darlin’…” Johnny starts, one hand on your hip as he moves the loofah in circular motions on your lower back, “I’ve called you ravishing, and that you are, but you’re a real sight for sore eyes, y’know that?” He hums, leaning down to press a soft and chaste kiss behind your ear. You say nothing as you resist the urge to shudder at his words. He places the loofah back on the rack– himself, before reaching out the shower to grab your shampoo. As the cool air from the bathroom mixes with the steam from the shower, you remember the whole point of you being here. Wash day.
You’re surprised by how little you have to direct Johnny on what to do. He parts your hair, albeit clumsily, with your pick-tooth comb into four somewhat even sections. The shower is gentle in how he detangles with the brush, shampoos and conditions each section of hair thoroughly. Continuing to use the wide tooth comb to comb from the tips of your hair to the roots. He repeats the shampooing and conditioning twice, as he’s seen you do many times before. Once done with each section, he wraps them up by doing two twists each section. Leaving you with eight, clumsy but good enough twists. You sigh, content, as Johnny takes his shower head and presses it real close to your scalp, just to make sure all the product is thoroughly rinsed out of your hair. All while shielding your face from the product with his palm over your eyes.
“All done, sugar.”
You briefly glance through the foggy glass and catch your reflection in the mirror. Sure, the parts were messy and the twists.. were something! But in reality Johnny had saved you a lot of time doing the whole wash, detangling, and twisting process on his own. Time you would’ve undoubtedly used to crash out on how long this process can be without said help. “Johnny baby, this looks great. I can’t thank you enough.” You exclaim, reveling in the way his face flushes at your praise. Before either of you can really process it, you're hugging him, arms wrapped around his neck, chest against chest, and head against his shoulder. Immediately, Johnny is stiff and you remember that you’re naked.
Apologies are muttered as you pull away hastily, bumping into the shower wall, now flustered yourself. Johnny manages to squeak out, “It’s fine!” as he composes his own self. That self-conscious feeling from earlier creeps back in and you’re acutely aware of how long you’ve been nude in Johnny’s presence. You give the shower and wobbly smile as you get out of the shower and quickly grab a towel to wrap around yourself. You have a half a mind to just snatch your dateviators off and leave it at that, but you hate rushed goodbyes. Sterling yourself, you turn to Johnny, who’s still very much rigid and as red as a tomato.
“Thank you Johnny, seriously.”
“O-Of course, darlin’. I’m just happy to help.”
There’s a brief pause, before you cross the bathroom again and give Johnny a chaste kiss on the lips. It’s slow but tender, your lips locking together perfectly as if they were made for one another. Johnny hands rest on the small of your back and your hip as he deepens the kiss slightly and you just barely catch yourself from moaning into his mouth. It physically pains you to pull away but making out in a towel, with shampoo and conditioner infused water rushing down your face isn’t necessarily your idea of a good time. So you pat his shoulder and break the kiss, thoroughly enjoying as his lips pout and how his body leans forward in hopes for more.
“Helping me out the way you did? That means more than you know.”
Johnny’s slight pout turns into a smile as he kisses your forehead.
“Well, what kind of shower would I be if I ain’t help my sugar out? My mama raised me better than that. Besides, I enjoyed it and I wouldn’t mind doing it again.. just say the word darlin’ and I’m yours.”

No no no, I love to yap especially about Date Everything. As much as I love Eddie and Volt, I have other favs too!
1. Johnny Splash - he was my first love (ending) and I just fell in love with him in the demo too, very pathetic man (not derogatory) right up my alley I fear.
2. Bodhi - omg he is tussling with Eddie & Volt for that number one spot. I love love love Bodhi, I won’t spoil but his love ending had me giggling and kicking my feet. Super sweet and kind of himbo-ish but we love that over here.
3. Chance - man, I LOVE nerdy guys. I’ll be honest I know jack squat about D&D so it was very “blah blah blah, proper name, place name, backstory stuff” whenever he spoke but I snagged that love ending tho!
4. Dunk - he’s a new fav, just finished his love route yesterday, and he’s just so sweet (are we.. seeing a pattern). TBH I would workout everyday if I had him training me.

“We’re closed.”
Eddie’s gruff voice called out, not even bothering to look up from the glasses he was polishing. He expected the wayward patron to leave, the familiar squeak of the door signaling their departure. What he didn’t expect was to hear a voice, one he’s grown to know as Beverly.
“I know, I know. But it’s… important?”
This garnered Eddie’s attention, as his eyes located the personified mini bar, he noticed another being. Slumped against Beverly, with all the poise of a fawn learning how to walk, was you. Immediately, a sense of both irritation and protectiveness washed over Eddie. He moved from behind the bar, making his way over. “What did you do?” He asked, his expression dark and stoic but his voice giving away his concern. Beverly shrunk slightly under Eddie’s fierce gaze, laughing nervously,
“Well.. they offered to help me test out some new drinks, right? So, we started with mocktails and gradually made our way to cocktails and it.. just… kept.. going?”
Eddie just stared and Beverly continued her spiel.
“I did eventually cut them off, obviously. But we were having so much fun and they were complimenting my drink making. And you know business has been slow and they’re literally my only customer–”
“Yeah, yeah. I got it.”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Eddie took a deep breath. “You couldn’t take them to Betty? Having them sleep it off is a better idea than taking them to another bar.” He stated. “They specifically asked for you and Volt. And I know you know how stubborn drunk people are.” Beverly explained, hoisting you up a little. While Eddie’s expression remained neutral, the subtle heat of his face flushing wasn’t lost on him. “Right. I guess we can–”
“Is that our live wire, I see?”
“Volt!”
For the first time since entering the Breaker Box, you spoke. Arms extending out as Volt approached, nearly face planting if it weren’t for him catching and holding you steady. As happy as he was to see you, Volt was perplexed by your drunken state. Normally, you never have more than two drinks with them so this was new. Volt looks at Eddie, a silent question in his expression. “Beverly had them test out several new drinks, many of which were alcoholic. Clearly.” Eddie stated, his sharp gaze never leaving Beverly. Another nervous chuckle escaped the minibar, “Haha, well I guess I better go. Bye!” And just like that she was gone.
Volt chuckled to himself, not taking this nearly as seriously as Eddie was. You could feel his laugh reverberate in chest, making you nuzzle into him more. Eddie just took in your state, as if contemplating on what to do next. “How much did you have to drink, hm?” Volt inquired, leaning his head down slightly to look you in the eye. You shrugged, meeting his gaze, “I dunno, like five? Six-ish?” You answered, your voice slurred. “They’re still coherent, that’s good.” Eddie commented, moving back to the bar to get, what you assumed is, water. Your bottom lip jutted out a bit and eyebrows furrowed, as Volt gently guided you to a booth.
“Don’t talk like ‘m not here.”
“Sorry.”
Once you sat down, Volt slid in the booth next to you, taking the glass of water Eddie handed to him and slid it in front of you. “Don’t take it personally, live wire. That’s Eddie’s way of showing he’s worried.” He explained. “I’m not worried. You had a few drinks, I don’t care. I’m more concerned about you drinking yourself into a state like this.” Eddie rebutted, deciding to stand rather than sit, subconsciously cracking his knuckles as he spoke. “What? ‘m not even that drunk!” You exclaimed, your voice way too loud considering the three of you were in close proximity to each other. “Right. Like you weren’t barely standing when Beverly brought you here. And damn near fell when Volt came over. Totally sober.” Eddie remarked, a sarcastic lit to his voice. Your brows furrowed once more as you looked off to the side, “You’re mean.” You comment, resting an elbow on the table along with your head in your hand.
Eddie scoffed in disbelief, looking to Volt for back up. “You are being a bit harsh, Eddie.” Volt added, a small smile still on his lips, clearly enjoying whatever this is. Eddie starts to speak before cutting himself off and sighing. He squats down on your side of the booth, a gentle hand taking residence on your knee. “Look. I don’t mean to be mean, I just– what if Beverly didn’t decide to escort you here? What if you decided to head here on your own? And you tripped on the stairs or something, breaking Skylar in the process. You could hurt yourself or worse and at the end of the day we’re still just objects. You would’ve been on your own.” Eddie stated, taking a breath. You hadn’t thought of that, though your thoughts were a bit scrambled in general at the moment. But, nevertheless, Eddie’s words resonated with you.
“You’re right, ‘m sorry for making you worry..”
“I’m not– it’s fine.”
Standing back up, Eddie gestures for you to scoot over and you oblige. Now sandwiched between the two, Volt slides the forgotten glass of water in front of you. “You should drink some, just to sober up a bit, yeah?” He suggests. You start to whine but Eddie isn’t having it, “Drink the water, it’s non-negotiable” He states, tapping the side of the glass. You huff and drink a tiny sip, drinking some more when Eddie gives you a look. “How are you feeling overall?” Volt hums, his arm draping over your shoulder and rubbing your arm a bit. “Tired, nauseous–” You start. “Don’t throw up.” Eddied interjected. “I wasn’t planning on it?” You reply, rolling your eyes.
Volt laughs at the banter, “That’s our live wire. You’re definitely feeling better if you’re giving Eddie an attitude” He comments. You sigh, leaning against Eddie, your eyes fluttering close. “Wouldn’t you be more comfortable in your bed?” He asks, seemingly opposed but shifting to make you more comfortable. You say nothing, shaking your head as a response, turning to nuzzle your face into the crook of his neck. “You smell good.” You hum sleepily, inhaling his scent deeply. Sober you would be absolutely mortified by your drunk actions but that was a tomorrow problem. Volt snickered, coughing into his hand in a poor attempt to disguise it. He busied his hands, taking hold of your legs and lifting them up into his lap, stroking your calf gently as your breathing begins to even out.
Eventually, the pair felt your body relax completely, a clear indicator that you were asleep. “Should we take them to Betty?” Eddie asked quietly as his hand hesitantly came to stroke your side. “What? You don’t want to be their bed for the night?” Volt teased, smiling widely as a blush bloomed across Eddie’s face. “No. Skylar’s eventually gonna run outta charge and we have no idea of knowing when.” He stated, looking off to the side. “That’s true.. But do you really think they’re going to let us move them? They look mighty comfortable snuggled up next to you.” Volt chuckles, vaguely gesturing at your sleeping form. You were completely pressed against Eddie, face in his neck, one arm loosely wrapped around his waist, while your legs were resting on Volt’s lap. Eddie closed his eyes, huffing in response, he knew Volt was right.
“I didn’t finish closing.”
“Hm.”
“All that prep work is gonna be a bitch tomorrow.”
“Right.”
“But…”
“But?”
“I guess I don’t mind.. staying here… like.. this.”
This time Volt didn’t tease, just hummed slightly, acknowledging Eddie’s words. And so they sat, the two of them with you sandwiched in between them. “You know.. if this is the only way to get you to slow down and take a break, maybe our live wire should get drunk more often.” Volt commented, smirking slightly when Eddie groaned. “God no. They better not make this a habit, you’re both already enough to deal with sober. We don’t need to add alcohol in the mix.” He muttered. There was a brief silence before Volt spoke again. “You really care about them, hm?” Volt asked softly, knowing that being vulnerable wasn’t Eddie’s strong suit. Eddie stayed silent for a moment. “I mean, yeah. Don’t you?” He replied, the question rhetorical.
“Of course, I just didn’t know about all your worries, have you always felt like that?” Volt continued, his eyes somber. “Not always but recently.. I don’t know. I guess you can say they’ve grown on me. And it doesn't help that this house is so big and that they're so clumsy. Anything can happen and we’d be none the wiser.” Eddie explained, his eyes downcast as he continued to rub your side gently. He sighed deeply, looking as though admitting his worries took years off his lifespan. “I really didn’t mean to be so.. y’know? They can just be so careless sometimes and it’s concerning. But I could’ve chosen my words better.” He admits. Volt nods, “You’ve never been too good with people. But you’re good with them, you apologize and explain your reasoning. I think they understand and don’t hold it against you.” Volt replies, reaching over to pat Eddie’s shoulder.
A beep emanated from your glasses, disrupting the peaceful atmosphere, most likely indicating a low charge.
“I guess that’s our cue.” Eddie muttered, his grip on your shirt tightening slightly. “Do you want to take them or should I?” Volt asked, knowing that at least one of them should stay behind, just to keep an eye on the Breaker Box. Eddie lifted you off of him slightly, pausing as you mumbled something incoherent, before looking to Volt. “You can take them. I’ll stay here.” He answers. Volt gives him a look, almost as if to say, “Are you sure?” But Eddie waves him off. Volt gently moves your legs off him, moving to stand and swiftly takes you into his arms. Immediately, you're nuzzling into his neck next, as if your body craves that closeness. “I had no idea our live wire was so cuddly.” He comments, his head dipping down to kiss your forehead. Eddie says nothing as he stands as well, moving towards you and planting a chaste kiss on your cheek. Already feeling Volt’s stare and hundred watt smile, Eddie groans.
“Don’t say shit.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“But you want to.”
“Nope, I’m so serious about this.”
“...you’re smiling.”
And it was true, Volt was smiling, glad to know both of them have mutual feelings toward you. “I’ll be back.” He says, making his way to the entrance. Eddie nods silently watching the two of you leave. God, you were going to be the end of him.
The next morning, you woke up with the worst cotton mouth you’ve ever experienced to date. And the pounding in your head made it no better. You were for sure saying no to Beverly next time she offered bottomless taste testing. You turn over, placing your pillow over your face, in a poor attempt to block out the sun. You could just close Curt and Rod but if you got up, you were afraid the vertigo would hit you hard. Eventually, you removed the pillow, only to notice something on your nightstand. A glass of water, a small cup with three pills in it, and a note. Undoubtedly from Eddie and Volt, just from the tone alone.
It’s not hard per se… but you have to see them consistently. My first run; I was too busy trying to spread my time out amongst the other dateables, I missed valuable time with Eddie that you need to achieve the love ending 🧍🏽♀️

Hi, I’m glad you liked my fic! I haven’t finished the game yet but I’ve met most of the dateables by now so, honestly, you can request whoever. If anything, I’ll just try to meet them in game to get a gauge on their character if I haven’t met them.
a/n: sooo i got their hate ending and after crashing out for 40 days and 40 nights (30 straight minutes) i decided to write an after ending. to give myself some closure if nothing else. i apologize if this isn’t the greatest, i haven’t written fanfic in yearsss.

You flinch as the door to the Breaker Box is slammed in your face.
Your dateviators sit askew on your nose as you try to process what just happened. Eddie and Volt hate you? Everything was going swimmingly up until now, where did you go wrong? Could you fix it? As you go to speak with them again, the specs on your face make a power down sound.
Out of charge.
It’s only then do you realize how late it is. The sun has set and the stars have begun littering the sky. This was your last interaction for the day, talk about depressing. And even if it wasn’t you could only talk to an object once per day, per Skylar’s detailed instructions. It’s fine, you’ll just… give them some space, check back in a day or two. Surely everything would blow over by then.
In the meantime, you kept yourself busy. You met new datebales, continued conversations with the ones you already met. And yet, your mind kept drifting back to Eddie and Volt. Really, where did you go wrong? Maybe kissing Volt wasn’t the greatest idea. It seemed right at the time, considering the atmosphere and all that. Or maybe you didn’t get close enough to Eddie? You should’ve been more persistent, asked more questions, his dislikes be damned.
This loop of “could’ve, should’ve, would’ve” continued until you finally had the courage to approach the Breaker Box again. It’s been a couple of days, surely whatever “hatred” they had for you has dissolved or at the very least, dampened. You didn’t expect them to not be mad at all, but maybe they would be willing to hear out and you guys could repair your relationship. Become friends if not anything else. That hope quickly drained as Volt approached the entrance, a sour and borderline terrifying look on his face.
He was different now, blue and electrifying. It was a far cry from the charming and sweet Volt you’ve gotten to know. He didn’t say anything at first, just staring at you like you have done the most unforgivable thing in the world (and maybe you did, you still weren’t sure exactly what it is you did). That silence stretched until you tried to break it, in which Volt immediately cut you off.
“Volt, I–”
“Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough last time. You’re not welcome here.”
“Please, can’t we just talk this out?”
“No, we can’t. I was foolish to trust you the first time around. I won’t allow you to have the opportunity to hurt us again.”
It took everything in you to not sob right there and then but you’re sure the tears that shone in your eyes got the point across clearly. “I care about you and Eddie so much, I never meant to hurt either of you. I swear.” The tremble in your voice was as clear as day but you couldn’t really find it in yourself to care. Not when it felt like everything was on the line. And for a moment, that hope you had fluttered in your chest as Volt’s expression softened. He sighed deeply and leaned against the door, reminiscent of the dramatic flare he had when you first met him.
“I’m sorry live wire, I don’t think we can trust you again.”
Your breath caught in your throat as the tears that have taken up residence in your eyes, slipped down your cheeks silently. You could do nothing but stare as the door to the Breaker Box was closed in your face once more. Part of you preferred the slamming, the yelling, and the volatile way things had originally ended. This felt non-negotiable. Final. You weren’t sure how to feel about that.
So, you stood at the entrance for what felt like an eternity. Not sure what to do or where to go from here. You knew you couldn’t get every dateable to love you, hell, even like you but hatred? Not indifference or some weird limbo state? Just pure hatred? As you finally began to turn away, Reggie popped into your peripheral vision. God, you were not in the mood for him. You had met him before as you and another dateable didn’t exactly see eye to eye. The details aren’t important as you didn’t care for that dateable nearly as much as you care for Eddie and Volt. Still, it seemed you were stuck and had to hear Reggie’s spiel.
“It’s one thing to be rejected and another thing to lose trust completely, yeowch!”
“....”
“Still, I dig your style. Rejection really isn’t so bad when you think about it. Helps you pick out the duds that simply aren’t worth your time.”
That’s the thing though, Eddie and Volt weren’t duds, far from it actually. And even if they hated your guts right now, you couldn’t find it in yourself to speak ill of them. “They aren’t duds, Reggie.” You mutter, arms crossing over your chest. Reggie raised a curious brow, “Don’t tell me you still have feelings for them? Do you not realize they kicked you to the curb? That they want nothing to do with you?”. You sucked your teeth in frustration, you knew that. Volt had made that painfully clear both times you spoke with him. As if reading your mind Reggie continues, his hands finding your shoulders and his head dipping down so his mouth is right next to your ear. “I know you have this good person act going on but doesn’t that make you angry? Isn’t that hatred mutual?” He questions.
You were mainly sad and confused. And sure, maybe a little bitter too. You still didn’t know what you did that was so wrong to warrant them to hate you but you didn’t hate them. Still… as Reggie’s hands stayed firmly placed on your shoulders, you couldn’t help but get angry. It was as if that energy was radiating off of him and seeping into you. Or maybe, that anger was always there and Reggie gave it the space to roam free. Either way, you were starting to get pissed. The low chuckle that came from Reggie wasn’t lost on you as you swiftly took off your dateviators. Volt and Eddie wanted to hate you? Fine, you’ll give them a reason to hate you.
It almost seemed weird, looking at the Breaker Box and seeing… a normal breaker box. You close the box firmly, a little rougher than you normally would but you didn’t care. They didn’t want to see you, so you didn’t want to see them. You surveyed the small closet wondering what else you could do to relieve that pressure that had started building in your chest. In all honesty, you wanted to scream, maybe cry some more, put the dateviators back on and curse both of them out. Instead, you dropped down and picked up Tony and Beau– er, your toolbox and spare boxes. You didn’t want any reason to come back here if you didn’t have too. You placed them in the closet in your makeshift home gym. It wasn’t much bigger than their previous residence, and they certainly had more roommates but hopefully they wouldn’t mind too much. You made sure to lock the door to the breaker box too. You’re not sure how that would translate to their world, if Dorian would simply just unlock it, but maybe it would slow the business of the Breaker Box.
You still had four more uses of your dateviators for the day but you really couldn’t find it in you to want to talk to anyone else. Your mood was dampened and you would hate to take it out on the other datebables. You would come back when you felt slightly better, when you could give them your full and undivided attention. Plus, it probably wasn’t the healistest to be talking to the inanimate objects of your home day in and day out. Considering how much emotional turmoil this one rejection put you in, maybe this was for the best. Maybe a break was needed. An hour tops.
That hour turned to hours.
Those hours into days.
The days into weeks.
And so on.
You haven’t put on the dateviators since your last interaction with Volt and by extension Reggie. That anger was still there, simmering in the back of your mind but all that you felt currently was sadness. As you went on with your day to day life, you’ve come to the conclusion that maybe there’s nothing you can do. Maybe whatever was going on with Eddie and Volt wasn’t meant to be. That you shouldn’t sit here, making yourself sick and miserable dwelling on it. And while this was your general takeaway, a part of you still held onto hope. Hope that with time; you, Eddie and Volt could make amends. And be friends. You’d never say it to the other dateables but they were your favorites, still are honestly. But it’s time to move on. You guess Reggie was right, in his own twisted way.
Rejection really isn’t so bad when you think about it.
There’s something about the brothers having almost animalistic qualities because they’re demons that makes me so happy, like being almost overly protective toward their partner, heat/ruts, growling, the pack mentality toward MC. like that type of shit.

You’d felt tired all day, but you especially felt lethargic now that you’d finished your chores for the day. There had been an annoying tickle in your throat all day and it probably wasn’t helped by the drizzle that you’d worked in for a few hours. There had been no other way about it, you needed to get those seeds in the ground today if you wanted another crop out before the season’s end.
You secured the barn and coop doors for the evening, making sure there was enough hay for the animals in case they got peckish. You headed inside for a warm shower, hoping it would perk you up but it had no effect and your head was starting to thud.
You were meant to be playing Soliaran with the boys tonight, but the more you thought about the journey to and back from Sebastian’s and how late it would probably end up being. You hated to let him down though, but you also knew you wouldn’t play at your best. Reluctantly, you got your phone and rang your boyfriend’s number. Sebastian had warned you he wasn’t great on the phone – he much preferred text messages or via the app – but you knew he often missed messages until much later and you didn’t want him to think you’d just forgot about the whole thing.
After a few rings, he picked up.
“Hey, Y/N. All okay?”
“Hi, Seb. I’m not feeling so well. I think I could do with an early night, but I hate to let you guys down… I’ve been feeling tired all day and I’ve got an awful headache now. Ugh, I’m sorry, I feel the worst!”
“Sweetheart,” he began – oh, whenever he called you that still made your stomach do somersaults, “it’s fine, don’t stress. Do you want me to get Harvey?”
“No, it’s nothing serious as that. I think I just need a seriously early night. Going to sleep past midnight and getting up at six must be catching up on me.” Your alarm clock had felt pretty brutal the last few days.
“Do you want me to cancel and come round? I’d be happy to.”
“That’s sweet but it’s okay.” You smiled as you opened the fridge, perusing the contents. “Honestly, I’m going to heat up some soup and then go to bed – I’d be extremely dull company.”
“Only if you’re sure. The others would understand.”
“Please don’t cancel for me, Seb. I’d feel terrible. I’ll catch up next time, okay?”
“Okay. But you’ll call me if you feel any worse, right? I can be right over.”
“I promise. I’m pretty sure I’ll be dead to the world once I get in bed, though.”
“I’ll miss you.” You could hear his pout through the phone.
“I miss you too. Love you, have fun!” You stressed.
“I love you too. Rest well.”
True to your word, you ate some leftover soup, left the dirty dishes in the sink – something you hated doing most of the time – and treated yourself to a fresh pair of pyjamas and crawled into your bed before the clock even hit 8pm.

Sebastian hadn’t slept well. He’d had fun with Sam and Abigail and they’d left just after midnight. He’d sat at his laptop for a couple of hours after that, keeping his phone close incase you’d rang. At around 3am he’d got into bed and must’ve had a few hours sleep as now the clock read just after 6am. He’d checked his phone, but there were no messages from you. That wasn’t unusual either – you knew he slept late into the morning and wouldn’t want to disturb him. He considered texting you but having stayed over at the farm a few times now, you weren’t one to take your phone out with you on your early morning chores. He placed his phone back down on the floor and tried to settle down but his mind was whirring. He wanted to see you and you’d be up anyway, right? He groaned as he got himself out of bed, he then quickly threw on jeans and his usual sweatshirt, picking up his keys and heading upstairs and out.
Thankfully, the sun was pretty low in the sky and he didn’t meet anyone taking the back route to your farm. Something was off, though, as he reached the top gate and let himself in – it was quiet. On nights he slept over, he’d soon got used to the sounds of the animals grazing in the morning. The chickens were always particularly vocal after being let out of the coop but as he walked past the door, it was firmly shut.
He checked the time on his watch – 06.45. That was super unlike you, unless you just didn’t want them out today? No, that didn’t make sense. It was often your first task in the morning to go and open the doors, and the only morning he hadn’t seen you do it was when it was a torrential downpour as the animals much preferred staying cosy inside.
Sebastian climbed up the porch steps and knocked, tentatively. Maybe you’d changed your morning routine since the last time he’d stayed – it had been over a week ago. He waited a moment or two but there was no response, no muffled sounds behind the door. Beginning to worry, he dug his keys out his pocket and swiftly found the one to your front door, easing it in the lock and twisting it before swinging the door open.
The living room was empty and there was no sign of you in the kitchen, but your bedroom door was slightly ajar and he could hear deep, heavy breathing. He crept over and peered through to see you fast asleep in the bed, a pillow over your eyes. You must be exhausted. He hovered his fist over your bedroom door, about to knock when he lowered his arm back down to his side. You were always working so hard, he couldn’t remember you ever mentioning a lie-in the whole time you’d known each other – every day it was up at 6am, rain or shine, feeding the animals, watering the crops, preparing the ground for the next lot of seeds… It seemed relentless, all that plus the other stuff living in Pelican Town meant – helping out your neighbours, maintaining friendships and a relationship with him. He began to wonder how you even had enough hours in the day. He retreated, heading back and out the front door, silently locking it behind him.
His eyes turned to the barn and he nodded in determination – he’d seen you do it enough times…

You stretched your arms over your head, feeling a bit stiff from the position you must’ve slept in, but otherwise you felt good. Far more rested than you could remember feeling in months. You rubbed your eyes, noting that the sun seemed pretty high this morning, especially since it must be before 6 since you hadn’t heard your alarm go off yet.
You looked over to your bedside table and your stomach sank when you realized it was past 10am. What the…? Had you turned it off in your sleep?! You cursed, scrambling out of the sheets, popped to the bathroom and then quickly got dressed, trying to remember exactly what you had on your to-do list today.
You unlocked the door and stepped out onto the porch to be greeted by the gentle cluck of the chickens pecking at the dirt down by the steps. Had you not closed the doors last night? No, you were sure you had, but that didn’t explain how the cows, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens were now all roaming amongst the grass.
Suddenly, Sebastian ducked out of the chicken coop, a basket in hand and your heart skipped a beat. He caught sight of you standing dumbfounded on the porch and smiled shyly.
“Morning, sleepyhead.”
You jumped down the porch steps and over to the fence, where he met you on the other side. His basket was filled with chicken eggs.
“I, er… I hope you don’t mind. I came by early and I saw the animals were still inside, so I checked on you and you were dead to the world. I thought you could do with the extra sleep, so I tried to get on with your morning jobs.”
“Seb, you are the sweetest man alive!” You squealed, pulling him forward by the scruff of his sweatshirt into a kiss. The man’s usually pale complexion turned a cute shade of pink as he blushed.
“It’s nothing,” he shrugged. “You work really hard, Y/N. Are you feeling any better?”
“So much better,” you stressed, opening the gate for him. “I think I must’ve slept something ridiculous like 14 hours. What did you get up to?”
“Er, well, I let all the animals out to graze, and I topped up the hay a bit. I’ve collected the fallen fruit, turned the sprinklers on, cleared some of the weeds in the crop patches and I just finished collecting the eggs… It doesn’t seem much considering the time.” He finished with a yawn while you stared at him, momentarily sunned.
“Sebastian, please, that’s loads! I can’t believe you did all that for me. Here,” you took the basket from him and grabbed his hand. “That calls for a coffee break.” You led him towards the porch. “Or maybe even a nap? You look exhausted, did you even sleep last night?”
“A bit,” he shrugged as the two of you entered the farmhouse.
“Go,” you pushed him towards the sofa, “Lie down whilst I brew up the coffee.” You had the strongest suspicion Sebastian wouldn’t make it till then.
He yawned, loudly, before settling down and resting his head back against the arm. “Okay, but only for a moment. Still got cows to milk…”
By the time the coffee was brewed, you could hear light snores coming from the sofa. “Sleep well, farmhand.” You whispered, kissing him on the forehead.
