When I took this photo I had no idea that in a week and a half I’d be homeless. It never occurred to me that it was a possibility. Sure I knew friend of mine who were either homeless or who have been homeless, but I never thought that I’d be apart of the LGBTQ community that made up the disproportionate statistics of the homeless population.

The past few months have been full of ups and downs and have been incredibly difficult. My mental and physical health have taken a huge toll along with my work and personal relationships. My work with LGBTQ youth has suffered, my focus has shifted from their needs to whether or not I’d have enough money for food or a place to sleep that night. I’ve become worried about whether or not I’d be able to continue to attend therapy visits or pay for my meds or my car. I’ve had to scrape pennies and dimes together to pay for gas. I’ve slept on floors and in my car. Not having stability has had an incredible impact on me.

I’ve been homeless since the beginning of May 2017. For a majority of that time I’ve been staying with friends and relying on their kindness and while providing them with money for rent. I have just been told that I need to be out by the end of August, and while working a full time job, I still don’t have the money to afford a place of my own. This has been a huge strain on my mental health and psychical health and my recovery. Please consider donating to help me find a home that will be a safe place for me to be myself.
