Important information
Hi, sorry for being inactive these past few days. Maybe not many of you know that I am from Venezuela or maybe you do, if you saw the artwork I made about the election fraud in Venezuela. The thing is, last Wednesday, June 24, Venezuela was hit by two consecutive earthquakes, the first with a magnitude of 7.2 and the second of 7.5. Our country is not used to these kinds of natural disasters, and that has become very evident; there are thousands of people missing and injured, as well as many houses and buildings completely destroyed.
Fortunately, my family and I are doing well, though the experience has been completely traumatic for me. I spent two days unable to sleep due to fear and the uncertainty of whether my house would be the next one to collapse, especially since some of our walls have cracked.
Please, I invite you to inform yourselves about everything that is happening in Venezuela. I will be leaving a link to a masterlist here in case you want to help my country in some way. On my part, I am considering opening emergency commissions to cope with this situation, as well as to help family members and acquaintances who were left homeless or whose houses were severely damaged.
If you read all of this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time. I would also really appreciate it if you could help me spread this information; any kind of help is deeply appreciated 🫂💖💖
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
Edit: why are you all too scared to repost this. Cmon. Be vocal about being against racism
Real thing that changed how i write: I started asking "what does this character think is wrong with them" and separately "what is actually wrong with them." Those two things are almost never the same. She thinks she's too much. She's actually terrified of being too little. He thinks he's bad at commitment. He's actually just never met someone he trusted enough. The gap between their diagnosis of themselves and the real thing, that's your character arc right there. you don't have to explain it. just write both.
Like... I know there's asterisks to everything. At the end of the day as long as people are healthy in the way they conduct their lives and live with others I don't think there's much to fear. And personally, I could also just've kept living on my own and been fine. But still. Been thinking about it lately and I saw a lot of pros, and that's been nice to think about.
That's what she said
Idk stupid jokes aside I guess it's obvious to us by now but it IS kind of the baseline of the struggle huh
Sharing these cus timing's gotta be timing 🫣

One of my biggest literary pet peeves is when historical or history-inspired fiction pretends that "courting" is a synonym for "dating". Usually it's just a one-to-one word swap--in a modern context, these characters would be dating, but this is olden times, so they call it courting instead. Sometimes they'll pretend there's a shade of difference, and that courting is a more serious exploration of marriage or something. But I read a lot of fiction that was actually written during these historical eras, and the word "courting" is never used like that.
Two people do not decide that they are "courting". One person decides to "court" someone else. It's an action, not a stage in the relationship. A man decides to court a woman because he wants to encourage her to have romantic interest in him. He's trying to win her favor. It's not an exclusive relationship--a woman could be courted by multiple men at once. She'll spend time getting to know the guy who's interested in her, but they won't officially define their relationship as one where they only show romantic interest in each other. If they reach a point where they want it to be exclusive, that's when you propose.
There's no middle ground--either you're getting to know each other, or you're committed to marrying each other. This idea of a period where you kind of commit to each other until you decide you definitely want to get married is a modern one, and it occurs in eras where they use the word "dating" to describe it. The closest equivalent I can think of are times and places where they'd talk about a couple "stepping out together", but they're still not calling it "courting". Words have meaning, and the word "courting" has never meant that, so stop using it that way!
RAINBOW MONTH IS HERE
Write a scene where a character lies successfully—but the reader can tell they’re lying.

Did Atreyu in The Neverending Story actually have a green skin or was that ten year old me not understanding what olive skintone means?
Actual green skin! I don't know what the English term is, but in the Spanish translation, his people are literally called "the green skins". In the part when Bastian leaves the desert, Groab, he tries finding a door that would lead him to Atreyu, and one of the doors that get him to him is green, probably both because of his skin color and because of the grass sea where he lived before embarking on his journey.
The Mirror, showing that Bastian in Atreyu's reflection:
Me: What an insanely amazing way to show that as the main character, Atreyu exists as a plot device for the reader to insert themselves into the story and and relate to, even if it's just a little bit.
Uyulala and The Childlike Empress, giving their explanations for everything happening:
Me, watching as it is steadily getting more intense and leaving the bounds of what I had expected;
"I asked ChatGPT-
Well, I asked Uyulala, the Oracle in the South, and she told me Fantasia is in great danger, because the Nothing is destroying it, the Childlike Empress is sick and only a new name will heal her and Fantasia. And only a human being can give her one.
Writers, illustrators, musicians, all artists, keep going. No machine can do it like you. May you find the Childlike Empress.
