Sunshine and honey and letting all of your sorrows melt away…
Beautiful and precious soul, remember where you came from. Answer the call of the ancient truths echoing in your bones: you are a free sovereign being, embodiment of divine love, wisdom of the whole universe personified. You life is sacred. No one has the right to enslave you, manipulate your consciousness or use your life force to fuel their agenda. Reclaim your birthright to be in your own energy and make your own choices. Don’t let yourself be blackmailed, bullied or tricked into giving up your rights and your sovereignty. You are more powerful than you know and more loved and supported than you can imagine. You got this.

🔥 FIRE RITUAL 🔥
• to rid guilt and welcome self love, forgiveness, mental clarity and motivation.
What I used:
• 4 elements
Fire ---> yellow candle (for positive attitude) - lighter/matches
Water ---> moon water
Air ---> feather
Earth ---> 2 pothos leaves that were not doing so hot!!!
• Crystals:
---> Clear Quartz - master healer - amplifies energy - draws off negative energy of all kinds
---> Amethyst - it relieves stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety. Alleviates sadness and grief, and dissolves negativity.
---> Rose Quartz - purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, deep inner healing and feelings of peace
---> Selenite - Cleansing Properties
• Smudge (husband cleansed my space (whole home) with sweetgrass
My mixture for ritual:
• Thyme - Rosemary - sage and white sage and link Himalayan salt to make a mixture for the fire ritual
Thyme - purification and courage
Rosemary - improve my performance of my craft
PHS - grounding - purification - dispelling negativity
Sage - promote wisdom - granting of wishes - protection - builds emotional strength
• Butterfly - change and rebirth
• pen and paper ( write to letters into the universe of what you want to Release and what you welcome)
• shell - protection and to put or mixture in
🔥 🧡 🔥 🧡 🔥 🧡 🔥 🧡 🔥 🧡 🔥
After I took the few shots because I do like to share, I tuned it and meditated to center myself while my letters were burning in the cleansing mixer we made.
I stood near my window letting my fan blow the smoke out the window while I meditated. It was a beautiful releasing cleanse!!!
Once the smoke cleared and settled I sat and meditated some more.
To end the ritual I used my selenite wand to cleanse myself and space and held it to my heart and took many deep breaths in and out while speaking positive affirmations!!!

Some Thoughts on Racism and Shadow (Work)
First off, if you’re a spiritual writer of any kind, you need to go read this post by Rashunda Tramble over at Stay Woke Tarot. In it, she talks about the way spiritual writers in particular contribute to the problem of racism and colorism by continuing to equate light with good and dark with bad or uncomfortable things.
It was in reading her piece that I realized perhaps one of the reasons I’ve struggled so hard to get people to stop seeing the shadow as something bad and scary is in part that underlying racism. I worry even with the efforts I’ve taken to work on my language that it’s not enough. So I want to take a moment to really make something clear.
Within the context of shadow work “light” and “dark” are complex. They are multifaceted. They contain multitudes. When you boil them down to anything simple, you miss the point of shadow work entirely.
The “light” in shadow work usually refers to what is known about oneself or what is presented to others. Specifically in my framework it refers to the gaze of others, especially as a collective, that lets us know what gets us more love or more rejection. I certainly do not acknowledge enough that the “light” in this case is invasive. It is the “light” that casts the shadow. The “light” is not wholly good.
In shadow work, we talk about our inner critics and how they decide what goes into the shadow. But it’s important to keep in mind that our inner critics are not born of the shadow at all but rather born of that interaction with “light”, with the judgement others. We may focus on our inner critics and healing them as best we can, but that’s because this is where we have agency. We cannot change the “light” and for many of us growing up that “light” was actively unsafe or dangerous.
The shadow or the “dark” on the other hand harbors everything that makes us deeply human. It connects us to other people intimately. Once we accept what’s in our shadows, it’s what allows for deep sustained connection with other people. That “darkness” is family. The “darkness” is home. “Darkness” is real in a way the light isn’t always.
And to be clear, the light does have positives. We as a social species need to communicate clear limits on what behavior is tolerated and what behavior isn’t. In that way, the “light” keeps us safe. But the “dark” also keeps us safe. When we accept it, it holds us in union with one another. It connects us with every person who has ever lived and ever will live.
And I recognize that the need may be for a new model entirely, one that abandons the “light” and “dark” labels all together. I want to keep searching that out and reeducating myself as I go. But I did want to take a moment to disrupt the thinking around those labels in my little corner of the internet for a moment. For us white folks in particular, we really need to consider how the words we use in our practice - even if it’s private and solitary - fuel our racist attitudes toward black folks. White spiritual writers (which includes witchblr posts), need to understand the lasting damage the ways we use “light” and “dark” can cause. Please don’t continue to fuel it.
Again, go check out Rashunda Tramble’s work. She’s an amazing tarot reader and writer and her piece is way more valuable than whatever I can say here.
THINGS YOU NEED TO BE A WITCH
a desire to learn
an oddly strong love for the moon, the sun, or both
an open mind
time
a little humility
salt, probably
THINGS YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A WITCH
a vagina
nor a uterus
fancy tools
money
formal training
a fancy witch name
a neurotypical brain
major talent right off the bat (this is a SKILL, you learn it, not everything will just come naturally)
I would venture to add common sense and critical thinking skills to the first list, though that might be covered by a grain of that salt.
Other than that, hard agree.
