When you guys dust/clean your altars, do you find there’s rarely any dust at all? I mean…this is the first I’ve thoroughly dusted them in two weeks or so and there’s no dust. But all the other areas in my room have a regular amount
Some materials attract dust much better than others. I doubt it has to do with the fact that it's an altar, tbh, dust just sticks to certain things and not others.
There is literally only one tarot deck in the world that I don’t want.
(I mean…okay, there might be others because there are thousands and maybe there’s something out there that I loathe the very idea of but AS FAR AS I KNOW there is only one deck I Do Not Want.)

Runes!
Hiya everyone! Still here, just being a bit lazy with the updating :X
I bought a bag of runes whilst visiting a local store (it's a set of 24 runes, Elder Futhark. I got rid of the blank because it is historically inaccurate, and also rather redundant imo). I'm only just starting out, but I've already done a bit of reading/research from numerous sources, and got the the point where I felt confident enough to do my first personal reading (with some of those great resources by my side, of course!), and, well... uh, you'll need some context first.
I have needed some mode of transportation for a while, as I am currently unemployed and I've exhausted my options applying at every local business available. I have glanced into the transportation system in the city I live in, but I've been hesitant due to complacence and a nervousness in exposing myself to the outside world. I can't afford a vehicle, but my insecurity prevent me from feeling totally comfortable using public transportation. So, my life has been 'on hold' for some time, pretty much at a standstill as I feel trapped and am apprehensive to go other places.
So, when I got home from the store and decided to due my first reading... Well, I'll just show you the results:
I first drew a single rune to give me a bit of perspective on the frustrating situation I am in. I drew the rune "ᛁ". I researched it's meaning, and found it is called "Isa", symbolizing Ice, a standstill or challenging situation with little progress being made, as if it's frozen in a block of ice. That caught me a bit off guard, but with this situation exposed, I decided to do a slightly more in-depth reading for advice on how I might go about fixing it, I drew three more runes in a line, using my favorite tarot spread at the moment: "#1: Context #2: Focus #3: Outcome"
The three I drew, in order, were: ᚺᛖᚱ. Fellow rune users (especially those much more experienced than I) will already understand completely why this reading (my very first!) ended up being so meaningful to my situation, and noteworthy enough to make a post about!
In the place for "Context" (my general situation at the present), I drew this rune: "ᚺ". Researching, I found it is called "Hagalaz", with the image of a storm of hail. It seems to represent turmoil or, in my situation, a lack of control.
In the place for "Focus" (what to focus on or do, or try to change for the better), I drew this rune: "ᛖ". Researching, I found it is called "Ehwaz", and symbolically represents a pair of horses. Guess what it means? Transportation. Movement (and the change it brings). Yeah, that one stunned me quite a bit as I read it.
Finally, in the place for "Outcome", I drew this rune: "ᚱ". Researching, I found it is called "Raidho", and it symbolizes a wagon or chariot (or vehicle of my own, 'once the horses are hitched'). From a site with a list of runic definitions: "[Raidho is interpreted as] Travel, both in physical terms and those of lifestyle direction. A journey, vacation, relocation, evolution, change of place or setting."
Even aside from the spread I'm using, these 3 runes in a sequence symbolically bring to mind a powerful image, of a terrible snowstorm, myself feeling helpless and without a way out in the freezing darkness, and suddenly realizing that I've had horses and a wagon with me all along to provide shelter and move me away from this horrid frigid place, and further along. To somewhere warm.
Of course, the runes I drew could also be taken in a much less literal sense, representing 'movement' or change in my general outlook on life. Both interpretations are valid, and both have impacted me full-force since I first did this reading.
Anyways, on further researching this rather stunning correlation, I learned quite a bit about the structure of the 24 Elder Futhark runes, and their meanings. I also found that each of these 3 runes is from a different Ætt (set of 8 runes, a 22% chance. Not very improbable, statistically speaking, but also not without meaning, as it would traditionally imply that each of the 3 runes is carrying an individual message from one of the 3 Ættir Gods). However, the chance that I'd draw the only two POSITIVE transportation-related runes in the set in the same 3-rune reading (and NOT "ᛚ", Laguz, which, while involved with transportation, would have carried a much more negative connotation), however, is approximately 0.34% if my math was correct. Really cool stuff :D
So yeah, wow, I don't really know what to say about this. It cut straight to the core of the standstill in my life, and I now know where I should go about focusing to try and change it. Pretty incredible; I'll definitely be devoting a portion of my studies to runes from now on!

Oftentimes I’ll find the answer is “no” in regards to the general issue at hand (obviously, or why would I be asking?). However, there are several ways to interpret this card, and I do, on occasion, read it at face value, especially when I apply it to my music: I sometimes get so caught up in the subtlety or nuance that I lose view of the structure of the whole; the song was finished all along, and I was only wasting time on little pieces. However, when applied to life situations, a different interpretation shows itself.
When applied to life, this card shows insight when you look at the word “it” as one of the many facets of your general situation. What could use some finishing touches? What could be totally rehauled/renovated? You can powerfully shape your situation when you look at things as a finish-er: just don’t forget to stop and smell the roses while you’re at it! There is little satisfaction in finishing things you haven’t put your heart into.

i got my wild unknown yesterday + book and i am completely in love!!! im really paranoid that i might bend it on accident and ill feel like i killed my deck :0 but i just love to touch it lol
Hehe, I know how you feel! Sadly, my book arrived with a rather bent corner, but it’s not that bad, and the cards are fine. The cards actually feel really sturdy compared to other decks I have, so I’m not too worried about accidentally bending them (though they have weird little serrated bits of paper along the edges, almost like they were torn from a grid of cards, if that makes sense... hopefully those will go away over time, let me know if you have a similar issue...) But they feel great, you’re right :3
I basically call my spirit guide to guide me into the right card and I call fourth my guardian angel to protect me as I make a reading... Is this a wrong way to ask before I do a reading? I mean I did three readings of my friends and it was in point, but I'm wondering if I cont. to do this, idk how detrimental it could be for me. Idk. I'm new to tarot. I've done research, but I still don't get it.
That’s a good question! I am relatively new to tarot myself, but from what I’ve experienced, the great thing about tarot cards (and most forms of divination, actually) is that there is no wrong way to use them. Some people have complex blessing/banishing rituals and treat their cards as if they are their own living, breathing beings, and some people (like me!) treat them like a pack of cards and a useful tool to look for advice and enlightenment in new ways. Use them in a way that you find fun, and don’t let others try to police the way you use your cards.
Tarot reading is an old and eclectic art based around an outdated ancestor of the modern playing card, and anyone who claims to be using the one and only “authentic” method of tarot divination is a huge liar. Relax and find your own way~
I’ll repeat, do not let others tell you how to do divination. It’s a personal thing, and, as long as the way you use them is getting you results, and as long as you’re enjoying yourself, then you’re doing it right :)

When I get this card, I don’t (always) think of it as the literal outdoors, but rather an instruction to put your frame-of-mind in a place it’s not adjusted to, and then force it to stay there for a time. It might be uncomfortable or new to you, but the end results may surprise you. Just a possible interpretation~

In the instance, questions you should be asking are, what ‘instruments’ are “normal” for you? Why should you abandon them (are they out of tune? beat up? cliche?). What ‘instruments’ should take their place, and how should the old ones be replaced?

Adding this one to my wishlist, though I probably wont be buying it very soon... The main appeal, to me, is the borderless aspect of the cards, especially in combination with the direct "retro" style the deck emanates. But I know a lot of people take this deck as much more than a novelty, so I should probably give it a bit more thought then that...

Oblique Strategies
I'm getting ready to do my first (free) public tarot readings, but in the mean time:
Send me an ask to have a card drawn from my deck of cards based on the Oblique Strategies. The deck is handwritten on tiny multicolored index cards, using several new cards of my own creation. The concept of the Oblique Strategies was created by musician Brian Eno to give unusual/open solutions to problems with the flow of creativity: Cards are meant to be drawn whenever, as an artist/person, you feel "stuck" or in need of advice.
A few examples of cards I might draw:
"Do we need holes?"
"Work against your better judgement."
"Do something boring."
"Retrace your steps."
I won't be interpreting the card drawn, because that's the fun part (and it shouldn't be too difficult) :D

I feel like this is basically saying this is a fun and childish deck that will help me open up more to having fun - which almost everyone I know has made a comment at some point about how I am ‘no fun’ or should lighten up or that I am too serious.
2 what are your strengths: The Emperor (haha)
This is where I laughed because… the Rider-Waite deck is like, THE classic tarot deck. My father-in-law even has a copy. Anyway, I HATE the ‘original’. The artwork is just too depressing to me, and I hate the colors and the lines… it’s just not my cup of tea. So when I saw some slightly modified versions were available, I thought, I should probably get one of those. (My ideal copy would be the Radiant Rider-Waite, but I’ll take what I can get.) I feel like the Emperor is this deck’s way of saying it’s THE tarot deck, bitch.
3 what are your limits: Ace of Pentacles
I am guessing this has to do with money? Specifically new ideas for making money (like new projects) or starting a business or making an investment, since I typically see Ace of Pentacles as buying a house.
4 what are you here to teach me about: 6 of Pentacles
Generosity and giving? Which I think is funny since this deck ‘admits’ not being good with money (ace of pents above)
5 how can I best learn from you: 10 of Pentacles
At first I thought this meant physical security, but now that I review the spread as I type it, it makes me think this deck wants me to be secure in my knowledge of tarot. It wants me to approach it as a partner, not as a new teacher or a project to memorize or compartmentalize. It wants me to own what I already know so far and be secure in that.
6 what is the potential outcome of our relationship: King of Pentacles
Again my first thought of this was physical security, but I think this card is more about me taking on that role of feeling like a King of Pentacles. For some reason it always surprises people when I say this, but I never feel very confident in myself. I put on a REALLY good show and I’ve always done it without really trying. In fact I am always surprised when someone says ‘you’re so confident and secure - what do you mean, you were nervous?’ or whatever. So I take this card to mean working with this deck will help me really take on that persona of the energy I talked about with the 10 of Pentacles. Yay!

Somethings kinda odd here… In a well-shuffled deck, there should be a 1 in 1425 chance to draw 4 pentacles in a row… Either that’s a HUGE coincidence (even moreso because the pentacles were in sequence numerically), or you should probably do a bit more shuffling before doing more readings, hehe :)
Seriously? I didn’t know that.
I can’t remember for sure if I did it with this deck (hey it’s been like almost a month since I got it), but normally my procedure with a new deck is to shuffle it a few times, to get it loose, then I put it back in order to make sure I’m familiar with the structure. Then I really shake things up by turning the deck face down and essentially dealing the cards into 4 piles. Then I stack them into 2 piles and shuffle several more times before I really do any readings with them. Someone told me once that dealing them into 4 piles is the fastest way to get the cards all shuffled together, so I added it to my routine. It’s worked out great so far! Except for the times I can’t remember if I’ve done it or not because its such a habit now :/
Statistically speaking, it's not the number of piles you deal the cards into that matters to the randomness of a shuffle, it's the number of successive shuffles you do that increases the chance of total randomness further and further. A common statistic (though not really provable) is that it takes about 7 shuffles for a deck to be totally "jumbled". However, with this particular deck, I kind of doubt you shuffled very much because, as I said, there is a very low chance of that sequence of cards actually appearing by pure chance.
Though I'm new to tarot, I have always liked collecting and shuffling/handling playing cards, and I have found that a simple overhand shuffle for 3 minutes removes all chance of a deck being predictable in any way. A minute or so more may be necessary for the larger amount of cards in the tarot. Hope this helps!
EDIT: I should also point out that the method you describe, while very good at separating cards which were ADJACENT in order to each other (e.g. seperating the 5 of pentacles and the 6 of pentacles), is NOT good at removing sequences of like suits/numbers (like the string of pentacles in ascending order from your spread). I prefer an overhand shuffle simply because, instead of focusing on splitting individual cards, it looks at the deck as more of a sequence as a whole.
