1. The Reflection.

As this year comes to an end, it is important to reflect upon the choices I’ve made. I will not dwell on my mistakes, but I must face them, and atone for any pain I’ve caused others and myself. Where in my life do I need to make amends?

2. The Return.

The long night promises a return to length of days and light. It is within this spirit that I choose to move forward with positivity. In doing so, what will manifest within my life in the year ahead?

can we all agree that all this “”new age”” to Christianity testimonies is literal propaganda?

all made by naive practioners who came into the movement for the wrong reasons & once something or someone breaks their already weak spiritual barrier & human psychology comes into play they’re claiming DEMONS & THIS IS NOW EVIL TO ME & YOU SHOULD REPENT TOO.

propaganda by telling the ppl they’ve gained trust that their practices r now sinful & demonic in ur eyes & posting info u found on sites like carm.org & that these ppl in the community that once trusted u need to repent & burn their tools like u have otherwise they will spend hell in enternity, nothing but fear tactics & uttering old thinking bullshit

you don’t see witches feeling the need to post “testimony” videos trashing the religion that they didn’t feel good abt & saying the believers were disgusting or something. Why? Bc witches aren’t interested in converting anyone. Born again Christians & their supporters KNOW what they are doing. It’s using vulnerable naive ppl to entirely denounce another belief system as evil on the basis of fear.

Spellwork; getting the basics

Spells are beautiful. They are scrawled in books, on scraps of paper, even the backs of hands. They can be followed like recipes, but also like recipes, they can be changed and reinvented. Spells can be as simple as a word and as complex as chanting under a full moon while waving a rock while spinning three times in a counter clockwise direction with your other hand clutching a photo of your dearest grandmother in order to harness her infinite wisdom (not tried it, but it could work!)

No matter how you go about spells, there are things to remember to keep yourself focused, in control and confident. 

Intention. Is. Key.

Intention is the thing that makes the spell do it’s job. It comes from you, and it is the most crucial element; it comes from focus, concentrating on WHAT you want; which means you need to be specific when you attempt it. Intention can be helped through chanting, visual imagery, imagination, you could even write key words and phrases and read those out loud (or whisper them if you prefer), but you must remember that however you go about it, you feel a genuine need for it to happen.

Take for example, you want success.

This can be done by picturing (or drawing a picture) of the thing you want to be successful in; say you want to pass exams, or win a competition you are competing in. Imagine or look at the picture and believe it’s happening, believe it’s a real thing. Use the emotion that comes from that as your energy to fuel the spell. Keep that, and only that, in your mind until it consumes everything. When you feel like it’s done the job, you can begin to relax and return yourself to reality. 

You don’t need objects, but they can help

If your spell is a particularly strong one, that would work best with the help of candles, rocks, poppets, photos, even treasured possessions, then utilise them as much as you like. If you feel like a spell would be more successful, whether it just holding the object and imagining it fill with your energy and intent, or acting out the action of banishing by wrapping cord around a doll or photo, these are definitely encouraged for they can help to bring out the chances of it happening for real. For those who struggle to focus or imagine, objects and visual aids can be real help. Sometimes you just need a little extra push!

Incantations; they can be pretty, but they can also be simple

If you are into writing or would like to try speaking during a spell, don’t think for a moment you need to be a poet. Poetry is pretty, but it doesn’t exactly give you the result you want unless it’s specific to the intent. Writing a few lines that give clear intention will help you focus and help you to get the spell just right. One word incantations are also great as long as you fully embrace the meaning of the word.

Keeping yourself grounded

Grounding is an extra step a lot of witches take to make sure that they do not lose too much energy during and after a spell. It’s to ensure that they can stabilise themselves and it helps to make sure there is nothing left behind once a spell is completed. You can do this by for example lying down flat, breathing excersises, walking, etc. while you do this, allow the energy to flow through you and out of your fingers and toes. There are other techniques you can try too; whatever works best. Witches have been known to get headaches or feel nauseous and dizzy if they do not ground themselves; this doesn’t effect everyone but it’s a great way to be sure you are safe and healthy during spellwork

Cleaning up. It’s a drag, but you’ll be thankful for it.

Always clean up after a spell. Put away everything, clean up the area you worked in, open some windows, put out candles and incense and refresh the room so it is clear of any excess energy. Cleansing the area after a spell makes sure that it is finished and done with. Lingering energy can be draining, so keeping your space clean allows you to feel energised and refreshed. Leaving a spell out and not cleaning up can create a negative space which no one really wants, right?

though i do not myself believe in the concept of a “beginner” spell, a lot of new witches often ask me what i recommend for them to start with. here’s some of the simpler lot, that should be easier to perform.

sweeten your feelings - simple jar spell to sweeten a bond

rose bath spell -  a bath of roses and milk to gather love and beauty

respect jar spell - simple jar spell to help gain respect

🌟 simple self care spells:

restarting spell -  a ritual for fresh starts, to remove old energies, and invite new ones in

stuffed animal sleep spell -  a spell for keeping negativity out of dreams, whether it’s pain, difficult subjects, or people that hurt you.

face wash spell -  a simple spell to promote beautiful or healthy skin.

soft shores bath spell -  for peace and tranquility in one’s life and energy

jar spell for clarity -  for emotional/mental clarity and wisdom 

rose quartz healing tears - simple ritual to heal emotions

nox - a spell to end a source of light or positivity

pumpkin head curse - seasonal curse to “burn” those who wrong you

burn your wishes - a simple curse to destroy someone’s wishes

things to have on a NON wiccan altar 🌸✨🌊🕯🍇🌿

i personally find a lot of info floating around about WICCAN altars. as i know many of you aren’t wiccan, i myself am not either, i thought i’d compile a list of possible things to put on a witches altar! i hope you enjoy my lovelies 💘

✨ signs of the sabbats, if you celebrate! this is my absolute favorite way to incorporate decor into my altar. here’s a lil list of some ideas to inspire you lovelies

yule - mistletoe, pine needles, symbols for the sun, pine cones, red + green + white + yellow candles.

imbolc - flowers, a brigids cross, yellow + green candles to represent the sun and return of spring.

ostara - fake eggs, flowers, representations of wildlife as they return after hibernation, potted plants, various seeds you plan on planting, pastel colored candles.

beltane - lots of greens, succulents, plants, acorns, seeds, pastel flowers + ribbons, yellow + pink + baby blue candles.

litha - flowers, fruits n veggies, items that represent the sun, yellow + gold + orange candles.

lughnasadh- harvested flowers and herbs from your garden(s), leaves, fruits, vegetables and gourds, candles ranging from green to yellow + orange + brown.

mabon - gourds + pumpkins, apple/apple seeds, signs of the harvest, leaves, pine cones, red + orange + yellow + brown candles.

samhain - pictures of your ancestors, tools for divination, gourds + pumpkins, black + white + orange candles.

✨ candles!! these are honestly my favorite things to have around. i personally celebrate the sabbats and use various colored candles to represent the changing seasons or to have an overall theme of my altar! here’s my personal list of color correspondents you could use.

✨ incense! i LOVE swapping out scents for the seasons to really put me in the mood.

✨ an offering bowl! for those of you who connect deities to your practice, offer to the fae, etc i love to have one placed on my altar!

✨ various methods of divination! i personally prefer to keep everything i use on my altar to let it be surrounded by positive energy at all times.

✨ your book of shadows/grimoire if you have one! going along with why i keep my divination tools at my altar, i prefer to keep my bos there as well.

✨ CRYSTALS!! i adore crystals and swap them out as i need + want to feel specific energies. here’s a list of crystal correspondences so you can personalize your altar + space!

✨ a pentacle! as a witch i view them as a sign of protection and like to have one on my altar at all times. you could draw one up or even make one yourself! i created my own from sticks i found in my backyard.

✨ represent a part of nature you feel connected with! show that on your altar!! seashells and such from your local beach if you feel connected to the ocean, various representations of the elements if you feel connected to them, etc. this is a lovely way to create an overall theme for it if that’s something you’d like to do!

✨ forms of cleansing! a bowl of salt, a sage stick, palo santo, etc.

✨ items you use for spell work! i have a jar of snow water and full moon water i collected that i leave on my altar as i use it, and continue to filter out as i collect new things!

✨ a cauldron! whether you create ingestible spells or burn herbs, it’s a lovely tool to have on hand and at your altar if you’d personally like to work with one!

✨ various pieces of art, personal drawings, garland etc to hang around the space of your altar! i have a lot of wall space surrounding it and loveee to use floral garland, paintings of flowers n herbs, decor that reminds me of my craft, etc to create a sacred space for myself.
