Jane giggled, blushing. "Well," she began, "he rescued me from these angry baboons at first. But I was just stricken by him..especially his eyes. They were such intense, focused eyes..I had never seen anything like those eyes.." she trailed off, remembering. "Needless to say, after a few months, we fell in love," she said with a smile.
And this just explained the ending to me. When I watch a movie, I never sit down and analyze it unless it calls for it (i.e. Inception); so at the end of Beauty and the Beast when Belle realizes that the newly turned human in front of her is Beast, I always thought that when she recognized him from his eyes, it was because they were the same eyes she had been looking into for all this time. This proved me wrong. She recognized him from the shredded portrait hanging in the West Wing. But, because she never lifted the rest of it up, she only had the eyes to draw reference from. There is my âah-haâ moment that Iâve been missing for some odd years.

Jane laughed at the little pixie trying to act like a monkey, realizing the fools they were both making of themselves. "The reason Daddy and I are so interested in them is that we wanted to help them. See, we saw some in London in a zoo, locked up in cages, half starved to death. Daddy's parents were biologists, particularly with apes. As a little kid, he'd gone on trips with them and knew what they were really like. Seeing them in cages angered him very much. So he set out here to bring back proof that they are not savage creatures and should be treated with respect. He brought me along with him to see what they are truly like. And on the way..." Jane said, blushing, "I found love.."
âWhy Iâm just fine. Iâm trying to find some fruits for supper for myself and Tarzan, but I canât seem to find any. Youâd think that after a year living in the jungle Iâd know where to get good fruit but apparently theyâre all rotten or not in season and itâs driving me...
Jane thought for a bit, trying to think about how to explain the concept of monkeys. "Well, they are the reason we came here in the first place. Well, sort of. We came for the gorillas, which are part of the same family, but they are apes versus monkeys. The only real difference is that monkeys have tails, and apes do not. Monkeys are furry little creatures that walk on all fours, and swing from tree to tree, walking like..hmm.." Jane wondered for a minute, then got on all fours. She crouched down, placing her hands in front of her, then started hopping around. "See? They move like this," she said, starting to giggle.Â
Jane lifted her hand to her mouth in awe as she read the fairyâs message. âMy name is Jane..â she said with a smile, as she held out her hand. But she quickly realized that of course fairies canât shake hands so she held out her finger instead. âHow do you do?â
Tinkerbell...
"Why I'm just fine. I'm trying to find some fruits for supper for myself and Tarzan, but I can't seem to find any. You'd think that after a year living in the jungle I'd know where to get good fruit but apparently they're all rotten or not in season and it's driving me bananas! That's another thing, I cannot find any bananas in this jungle! It's a rare occasion cause the monkeys always get to them first. I thought that maybe they'd spare me today but nooooo.." Soon after this Jane realized she was rambling and Tinkerbell was looking at her like she was crazy. She smiled apologetically and sat down closer to the fairy. "Well, I will say that Tinkerbell is a fitting name. It's exactly what you sound like. May I call you Tink for short?" Â
Jane smiled back as the fairy flittered around her. âYou are magnificent..â she murmured. âI donât think you can talk though..â she said sadly. It would be simply wonderful to talk to a fairy.

A Magical Encounter
Jane was walking through the jungle, collecting some fruits for lunch later that afternoon. But she heard a peculiar noise, like a tiny bell ringing. That's unlike any bird I've heard here... thought Jane. She followed the noise when suddenly a soft golden light shown from underneath the leaves. She peered in to get a closer look, and found the most wonderful creature she'd ever seen. It was a pixie, or fairy, like the ones she used to read about when she was little. She was so shocked that she gasped sharply, which made the tiny pixie notice her.Â
That One Couple in the Jungle (cont.)
Jane swam over to Tarzan, putting her arms around his neck. "This. Is. Perfect." she said, smiling and giggling a little. She looked into his deep brown eyes as he wrapped his arms around her as well.Â
Jane squealed as the water from Tarzanâs splashing doused her. She giggled, âAlright, but youâre gonna have to get me first!â She laughed, backing away from the pool. She knew that Tarzan always won in taunts like this, but thatâs what she loved most. She backed away someâŠ
Jane laughed as she was thrown into the water. Her hair swirled around her, blurring her vision. Note to self, cut hair when possible she thought. She floated up to the surface, brushing her hair back away from her face. She saw Tarzan looking at her with that same smirk that he had when he threw her in. She loved that look very much. âAlright alright you win!â she called. âNow get in here!âÂ
Tarzan did as Jane said and jumped back into the water. He submerged himself then swam from one side of the pool to the other and back again. He back stroked through the water a bit, then swam in circles all around Jane.
Jane laughed, trying to splash Tarzan as he circled her. But then she laid back against the surface, eyes closed, feeling the water seep into her ears. She took a deep breath, and as she did, she felt Tarzan's fingers brush hers.Â

Jane woke up to the sound of the parrots in the trees. She looked beside her, seeing that her husband was gone; his sheets strewn across the mattress. She chuckled to herself. âOk, where are you?â she murmured sleepily.

Jane heard Tarzanâs voice coming from below the treehouse. She slide down a few vines and worked her way out to one of the passages in the tree. She looked down at Tarzan with a smile on her face. She recognized that look in his eyes as wonder and adventure. âWhat is it darling?â she called down to him.Â
Tarzanâs face lit up as soon as he saw Jane. He was so excited to show her what he had found. With a wave of his hand he said âCome quick! I want to show you something!â He gripped tightly on a vine, making it easier for her to climb down.
Jane smiled widely when she saw how excited Tarzan was. She slid down the vine and dropped into his arms. Righting herself, she took Tarzanâs hand; her eyes were filled with the same adventurous spirit. âLead on, love,â she said enthusiastically.Â
Tarzan took Jane by the hand and began to lead the way. They strolled through the jungle for a while until Tarzan decided they would get there faster if they wereâŠnot on foot. He helped Jane climb midway up a tree to one of itâs thick limbs, then he suddenly swept her off of her feet (as he so often did). Grabbing onto a vine, Tarzan began swinging from one to the other while simultaneously holding onto Jane.
Tarzan could see below that they were quickly approaching their destination. He landed on the limb of another tree and carefully helped Jane climb down. They walked through the jungle a little more until coming upon a small barrier of shrubs. Tarzan stopped and looked over at Jane with a smile âWeâre here.âÂ
Pushing through the shrubs, Tarzan revealed the scenery of the beautiful cascading water and the sunlight beaming through the trees, making all the surrounding colors of the jungle seem more vibrant. He turned to Jane again in anticipation of her reaction.
Jane couldnât believe her eyes. She had seen beauty many times in the jungle, but thisâŠthis was simply phenomenal. She was speechless, turning in a circle to behold the sight in front of her. She covered her mouth and let out a sort of giggle, still astounded. Suddenly, she leapt into Tarzanâs arms. âTarzan..â she whispered. âThis is beyond anything Iâve ever seenâŠâ
Tarzan grinned. He was so pleased that Jane was as smitten by the beauty of the waterfall as he was. He rested his forehead against hers âIt reminded me of you when I saw it.â He gazed at her⊠âLetâs go swimming!â he said enthusiastically. Tarzan ran off, disappearing into the trees for a moment. Suddenly, he appeared as if out of nowhere, swinging on a small vine. He let go once he was over the water *SPLASH* When Tarzan emerged from the water, he splashed around a bit and looked over a t Jane âCome on!â he laughed. Â
Jane squealed as the water from Tarzan's splashing doused her. She giggled, "Alright, but you're gonna have to get me first!" She laughed, backing away from the pool. She knew that Tarzan always won in taunts like this, but that's what she loved most. She backed away some more, against the black rock of the waterfall. She smiled cleverly at Tarzan in the pool. "Well?" she called, giggling nervously.Â
