Me: Oh no it’s 2am! Maybe I should put my book down and go to sleep.
My brain:
Me: *continues reading*
Ravenclaw: I finished my book last night.
Gryffindor: Well you should start a new one!
Ravenclaw: Eventually. I still need to time grieve.
Better to take a book and not have time to read, than have time to read and have no book.
- An ancient bookworm proverb
we’re getting into BOOKS again, kids. we’re out here reading BOOKS. it doesn’t matter if it’s YA lit or elementary school readers or “”great classic”” novels or comic books or even creative non-fiction. we’re reading BOOKS and we’re having FUN with it.
When you correctly guess the plot twist before it happens:
team ‘enemies to lovers’ or team ‘friends to lovers’?
enemies to friends to lovers you fool you absolute buffoon
This moment when you’re so into a book that when you reach the last chapter, the last sentence, the last word. You just look around and just want to throw yourself because it was just fantastic but you’re also kinda emotional because the magic trip is over.
Ever since my husband and I moved into our new apartment, I have been in the WORST book slump ever. Send help! 😭😭
@bookishnerdsanonymous If you’re local to the Central Florida area, check out our staff recommendation displays for great reads! OR if you’re not local, have you tried these nifty sites?
What Should I Read Next has you input the title of a book you like and gives recommendations based on similar themes/styles! (Don’t be scared off by the “enter your email” box, as that is completely optional and does not need to be filled in order to get your book results.)
Which Book helps you browse themed book lists and custom set the scales for moods. (For example, there’s a scale for “Funny” and “Serious” and you can mark how deep into either side of the spectrum your results should include.)
TasteDive has you enter a title or author you enjoy into their search bar and will immediately generate several suggestions (which can be exclusively books but can also be movies, shows, and more!) that you may enjoy. The results include a synopsis of the book, its average rating by readers, and how many readers have reacted with Like, Meh, Dislike or Saved to their profiles. (You can make a profile and join the social aspect of the website as well, but you can simply use the website for just recommendations without an account as well.)
Olmenta gives seemingly random recommendations based on the genre you choose to browse. If algorithm/custom recommendations have failed you, maybe something in Olmenta’s lists will catch your eye!
We hope this helps break your book slump. :) Happy hunting!
@osceolalibrary Thank you so much! This is so helpful!
Just finished The Sun is Also a Star and omg this 😓
