Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's

A new Hoodoo tip
i cannot stress enough how important a relationship with your ancestors is, especially now.
a white candle, a cup of water and 15 mins is really all you need.
place your white candle and glass of water on your altar. your altar can be anything: the top of a dresser or nightstand, a mantle, a small table, a window sill, anything.
light your candle and call on your ancestors. if you know their names, call them out if you want. or just say “to my ancestors, known and unknown, i welcome you here now. i look forward to getting to know you.”
then take a couple minutes and just listen. you may notice a change in the temperature, or a song stuck in your head. maybe you don’t hear or feel anything at all. that’s okay. it takes time to get to know someone in the physical, so it makes sense that it take some time in the spiritual as well.
spend a couple minutes once a week, talking to and listening for your ancestors. start with 2 minutes, then 5 etc. refresh the water once a week. increase the number of times you’re at your altar slowly. you don’t have to go all out all at once, trust me.
after a while you can start giving different offerings like: coffee, tea, likka, tobacco, dragons blood, food ect. again, don’t go all out all at once.
personally, since i’ve started over, i only give big offerings on first sunday. i make a nice sunday dinner complete with dessert for my ancestors the first sunday of every month. i struggle with my mental health and having low energy and this works for both me and my ancestors. figure out what works for you and yours.
also, remember your ancestors are more understanding than we think. you may think they don’t understand queerness, mental illness, disability etc but i promise you they do. you are not the first and you won’t be the last.
okay, i think that’s it for now. feel free to add to this post some more tips for ancestor work

for Lady Hekate.
⚚ offering for Lord Hermes ⚚
FINALLY finished this only took me like forever.. but hey I can finally post something again !!
Lord Hermes is a god that's been really present in my life lately, which I'm extremely grateful for. He's been showing up around me and one of my now best friends has a really deep relationship with him , and I can't help but think he had his hands in it somehow <3 .
So I thought it's only fair to show my gratitude in the only way I can really do, by drawing something for him :3 I hope he likes it , you guys too of course!!
I also used this drawing as an opportunity to study Jean-Jacques Lagrenée 's painting titled " Mercury, Bearer of Abundance on Earth " :3

A digital offering for Hecate! May the light of her torch guide us towards newfound wisdom 🖤
A prayer for Hecate + Digital offering
Saffron-veiled Hecate, lovely-faced mistress of the night
Attended by a train of breathless specters that instill mortal hearts with fright
Rejoicing to haunt deserted places under the moon’s silver light
Key-bearer of the cosmos, you rule over all realms, yours is matchless might
You are high up in the heavens where the deathless ones dwell
Riding alongside Selene in her bull-drawn chariot, that bright-horned goddess who makes fruits swell
You teach us about the stars, their names and the secrets they have to share
You whisper ancient wisdom into our ears trough the whistling of the air
You are hidden in the depths of the sea, in the darkest regions of Poseidon’s realms, so profound no light ever enters
You know of all the creatures the watery abyss engenders
And as you sing the sound of your luring voice travels all the way to the surface and seeps into the shore
Where the crashing waves moan loudly about things yet to come
You are upon the earth, running across rocky mountains and woody hills
Hunting alongside golden-bowed Artemis, for in the chase your heart thrills
And you write into the flowers and the herbs, into the bushes and the trees, the promise of the gifts they are each able to give
With an ink so subtle it escapes all eyes, but that an opened heart can see
You are under the ground, in the dayless land of the dead
In the court of your beloved friend Persephone, the queen of Hades and the springtime maid
You tear trough the darkness with your torch, revealing what once laid hidden
You share a spark of your warmth in the flame of our candles, in the glow of our incense, in our rituals both holy and forbidden
Three-bodied lady, be gracious unto me and stand by my side
Light my heart with your torch’s fire when I need to be brave, wash my soul with moonlit sea-water when I need to be kind
Lend me your advice through the howling of the wind when I need to be wise, ground my feet with tangling roots of oak when I need to calm down
Snake-crowned Perseis, dog-loving gatekeeper, turn my sorrows upside down
A few common misconceptions and hurtful myths about the gods I worship:
• Demeter is not careless or selfish for reacting the way she did to the loss of her daughter. Grief, even amongst the gods, is an emotion so powerful that it causes us to loose control, and surrender to our own emotions. You would not blame a woman in grief over the loss of her child for having a mental breakdown. Also, I don’t personally believe that the plagues that befell Greece after these myths were written were caused inherently by Demeter, as agricultural disasters happened often, especially back before modern farming and cultivation knowledge, and it was if anything, a coincidence of timing which frustrated and worried men used as justification to attack and blame Demeter as a target of their angst, and a scapegoat to direct their suffering at.
• Poseidon wasn’t a rapist, nor was he inherently malicious or “evil”. Although he is most certainly impulsive and often aggressive, it is rarely in a malicious way, as many of the myths paint him as. You have to remember as the embodiment of the sea, sailors and others who knew the dangerous and unforgiving nature of the ocean often cast these traits onto Poseidon by association, and not all of the things they believed of him were necessarily true. The idea that he is a rapist is also a myth, or many myths, cultivated I’m sure by the high ranking and extremely misogynistic patriarchal men of Greece, who saw powerful male gods like Poseidon and Zeus as equals to themselves (foolish) and therefore believed that if they liked taking advantage of women and other unconsenting individuals, than surely they did too. (I imagine many found themselves smitten as a result of this.) if anything, Poseidon was more of a dominant father figure, like Zeus. He saw the women of the Parthenon as his daughters and sisters, as well as his followers, hence the reason many modern devotees such as myself refer to him as “father”.
• conversely, Artemis was not a misandrist, she didn’t hate sex, and she was not some uncontrollable psychopath. Many of Artemis’s myths heavily exaggerate her animalistic tendencies, which do exist, but are certainly not psychopathic or evil in nature, as nature itself is inherently incapable of being so. She also did not “hate” men, non-virgins, or sex. In fact, as the patron goddess of pregnant women and babies, these things are inherently connected to her domain. One of the reasons these beliefs have emerged, besides the myths, is that people have exaggerated the fact that as a virgin goddess who remains chaste as a virtue, Artemis tends to avoid men and people who aren’t women in her myths, not out of misandry, or other ideas that are honestly quite terf-y, and have been used to push transphobic narratives, but because she hopes to protect these virtues. She does not hate her male, trans, or otherwise non-cis woman followers, she values them just as much, and this is an unfortunatley common, and hurtful, misconception. Like Poseidon, she is often aggressive, and can be impulsive, but she’s MUCH more of a stern mother of nature, than a ruthless animal.

Please don’t fall for these common misconceptions, read Hellenic texts and stories yourself, and try not to spread misconceptions yourself! There are many reliable resources to avoid this, such as Wikipedia, theoi.com, and more! Have a blessed day 💙🏛️
Hymns created for the gods - Ares #1
1
Fire ablaze, set upon my heart, A spirit which might never fall apart, With mighty courage I race to the finish line, And scream upon the battle blasting my name, Confidence rushes through my veins, Blood boiling with the lust for life, A feeling like a knife to a gun fight, Made victorious with raging sanity, The echoes of the sword in my hands, Tremble through every bone in my body, The vultures above me, the serpents below, With mighty strength making the earth beneath me shake, The smoldering frankincense fumigates the air, To which I am lost and claire, Sensing the energy shift when he stands beside me. Chariot-rider, golden-helmed, doughty in heart, shield-bearer, saviour of cities, harnessed in bronze, strong of arm, unwearying, mighty with the spear. Hail God Ares, exceeding in strength
e-offering for Lady Aphrodite<3 in honour of her day
the goddess of beauty and love, teaching me how to be in tune with my feminine side, how to accept and embrace my sensuality, my soft side.
it's okay to be soft, and I'd like to express my gratitude for Lady Aphrodite. she teaches me how to trust myself enough to let myself go and just feel free in everything I'm doing, because life is not a punishment 🩷
