“Lesson number one, constant vigilance is key. It’s good to assume you’ll usually see me around at my gym. It’s my baby. I even do my coursework here. Dr. Pendragon won’t craft herself from thin air. I’ll do it from a textbook on medieval Auradon.” Ava laughed, tightening the braid in her hair. This was not the life she had expected to be part of when she was growing up in Camelot, but it didn’t bother her much. Owning this gym and working on her PhD was a dream come true. It was important to be a well rounded Queen. “You don’t strike me as the type, no. Neither am I. The last time I tried to do yoga I think I nearly broke my back bending like that. Apparently I need to learn to be more flexible, in more ways than one.”
Ava thought for a minute, listening to what Tatiana had to say. She wasn’t the best at comforting people but hopefully she could help at least some way. A few of these problems were familiar enough from her own days as an undergraduate. Well, not ripping off someone’s wings, but she could see herself doing something like that in her younger years.
“Yikes. I heard about what happened, in both situations. If there’s anything I can do to help with the sorority one, let me know. I was Vice President under Olivia. As far as fight night, which I’m still very disappointed I missed, well sometimes things happen. You don’t go into a ring expecting to get off scot free. If you’re not willing to risk something, don’t get into a fight.” Ava smiled, leaning in closer with a wink. “It’s cute you think I’ve ever lost. But I could use another warm up.”
“Well, some royals like putting their names on things they aren’t actually doing anything with. Seen it several times...but I assume you aren’t like most royals, right?” The blonde challenged, brow raising as she scanned the girl in front of her’s face. If anyone could handle a verbal back and forth, Ava had proven to be the one. She didn’t take things so personally, she challenged her back, and Tatiana had to appreciate that. “I mean I have the flexibility part down, it’s the being zen part that I have problems with. “ She explained as she let out a small sigh, pulling her legs back into a butterfly position in front of her, head falling a bit to the side as paused for a moment, “But the idea of seeing you attempt a back bend is amusing enough in itself to brighten my mood a bit.”
Pushing herself up to be on her feet, she rolled her head side to side as she stretched out her muscles while she listened to her speak, rubbing her lips together slowly, “The sorority issue needs to be dealt with more seriously, I reached out to Mitch and he might as well have told me to fuck off. This is important to me, even if some people don’t think it is.” Tatiana admitted with a shrug, hands coming to rest on her hips as she felt her lips curl into somewhat of a smile, “Exactly, she could’ve bound her wings better, and trust me...I’ve seen people get way worse on the Isle and that was on purpose. I wanted to beat the fuck out of her, not maim her.” It was the truth, but she didn’t want to talk about that bullshit anymore. About the guilt she felt, about the rules of the fights, none of it. So she focused on the next words to leave Ava’s mouth, noting her wink, “Cute isn’t a word that I would say describes me. Warm up? Cute that you think fighting me is just a warm up.”
