I have survived. I am here. Confused, screwed up, but here.
Laurie Halse Anderson, Speak (via wordsnquotes)
"Your hair is so long now. Are you growing it out to match Sir Hasgard?"
He felt the end of his long lock of hair and stared at it curiously. It was even longer than Sir Aldebaran’s had been, actually. “I didn’t realize how long it’d gotten. Wow, it’s almost as long as Pope Shion’s is now…”
celintha:
A huge wave of cosmos bubbled up from the ground under her, and she only had a second to react. Forcing her on the defensive like this…
She let her own cosmos burst and tried to use it as best she could for defense, just barely weathering the attack at all.
You're better with your cosmos than you used to be --he wanted to praise her for that, but now wasn’t the time for it. He stumbled and regained his footing on the now shattered ground. Then he ran after he, throwing a punch down to try to capitalize on the opening.
“Now I have something I want to protect. It’s you.” (taurusteneo)
Studio Ghibli sentence meme / @taurusteneo
“You’re a saint. There’s a lot you’re going to be protecting. Things that are all a lot bigger than me.” Things that Celintha wasn’t cut out to carry the weight of on her shoulders.
“All I ask is that you remember to protect yourself too, Teneo.”
celintha:
“I always will,” she finished.
She wasn’t nearly as finicky about her hair as Teneo was, so she left him run his fingers through it. To his heart’s content, for now. Maybe this would be their last chance, really.
She could practically sense the change in him when she clenched his fists. He was trying not to cry. She could tell.
“Teneo. You and Saro better come back to me and see me once everything’s done, if you have a chance. Sir Aldebaran is watching over us, so I know we’ll be okay. Even if our paths won’t be the same anymore, we’re still a family, aren’t we?” She brought her head up and ran her hands through Teneo’s hair.
“And once that time comes, once you’re Taurus Aldebaran, and we’re all so proud, there’s a lot that I’ll want to say to you.” She leaned in and pressed her lips against his in a brief, soft kiss. “I’ll be waiting.”
“I know.”
Even if he wasn’t watching her back, even if they weren’t watching each other’s backs... If nothing else, Celintha had always been a fighter. She had come to the sanctuary as a fighter, so she was one before she met him, too. She’d still be one without him now.
It almost hurt more to come to terms with that.
His thoughts came to a screeching halt when her lips brushed against his. He’d never kissed someone before. He wasted the brief moment being too frozen to react until she pulled away.
"...Alright.” He looked at her with new determination, forcibly pushing everything else out of his mind.
“Saro and I are going to keep fighting this war. And you’re going to keep taking care of everything here. We’ll meet someone in the middle, after everything’s done. And when I really do become Taurus Aldebaran, if I really am good enough to take up his mantle, then Saro will be right beside me. We’re going to win this, Celintha. I know that.”
"Saro said he thinks of us as his mom and dad. Isn't that cute?"
“Us?” He laughed, partly out of the awkward surprise he felt from such a sudden statement. “Really? I hope you resisted the urge to tell him off for implicitly calling you old, Celintha. I always thought of him more like a kid-brother, but I guess we’re a little too overbearing for that!”
“Don’t say it like that! You’re going to make me feel old, Teneo.” She shoved his shoulder. “You’re only laughing so much because you know for sure that he thinks you’re the fun parent.”
“Only because you can be a little too harsh on him sometimes. And that’s coming from me,” Teneo said, settling back into a balanced stance. Her playful shove did little to actually throw him off.
“Do you want me to be the strict parent instead? I’ll have to be stricter on both of you, not just Saro.”
celintha:
“Do you want to see how strong I am for yourself?”
A non-answer. She didn’t know how strong this boy, she couldn’t say she was better yet.
“--Is that a serious challenge!?” He was so excited, he barely realized he put his hands on her shoulders and started shaking her. Saro didn’t exactly challenge him, and he wasn’t exactly on equal footing with the others.
“I want to see! Let’s do it! Let’s fight!”
goldsaintleoregulus:
“So you are like their leader then? I agree, overworking and underworking is dangerous. But at like you said at least training with friends is fun.”
He didn’t have a group to train with but sometimes he trained with Yato or other trainees when he was younger.
“You would really come? It is true, I do want you to come with me to Rodorio village but what I said about building bonds with the villagers and getting to know them, I think it is important. But that is just my opinion on what a good saint is.” He knew there were other saints who would disagree with him but he always thought building bonds between saints, trainees, even villagers was important. His uncle agree with him to an extent. “I know others may disagree or think I make no sense but that is up to you to decide. Sorry though, I didn’t mean to make you or anyone feel bad."
He watched patiently as Teneo stretched and after a few minutes, he was done.
"Alright, lets go! Have you ever been to Rodorio village and explore around before?” He was already starting to walk in the direction of Rodorio village.
“No, Sir Aldebaran is still in charge. I just have to watch over those two while he’s busy. Like a babysitter. Obviously, I don’t need to do that so much anymore.” Saro still had a lot of growing up to do, but he’d come a long enough way that Teneo could trust in his resolve now. And Celintha was... well, she had always been Celintha.
Teneo just nodded. He didn’t think the point was worth arguing, but the way he had brought it up, it had felt like Regulus was trying to make him feel like his own training was insufficient. Perhaps Teneo had misread the situation.
“Yeah, I know the way there for errands. I don’t make a habit of exploring or spending too much time there. Those don’t sound like what I spend most of my free time doing, even when I’m not busy with training. You explore towns a lot?”
roseofrodorio:

Yes, this was the might of a gold saint. Agasha was soundly, completely defeated.
In the back of her mind, she thought that Celintha was lucky. But not nearly as lucky as Teneo would be for getting to be with Celintha.
“And just remember,” she said, one final push, because she lost the fight but she’d go down fighting.
“If you don’t make her happy, she has an army of her own, and we’ll all do everything we can to protect her. Me, her kids, this whole village. So…”
“Take care of her. I mean, not that she needs to be babied or held on a leash, but… you know what I mean. Take care of her heart.”
He had her approval, then. He was relieved. He had felt odd, arguing with the younger woman, but this whole exchange taught him exactly how good of hands Celintha had been left in. She would be fine. He would find the right time to talk to her, too.
After all, they both had time.
“I’ll try not to make enemies of Rodorio village. Thanks. Tell Celintha that I stopped by.”
He waved and turned to go back to the sanctuary.
He hadn’t exactly passed his self-imposed mission, but he accomplished something good. And maybe one day, that would be his sister-in-law. He covered his face with his hand to hide the way he blushed at that indirect thought of marriage.
tides-of-clarity:
Did he really want to push his luck with that? Laying there was kinda the best bet but he didn’t want the other freaking out. Slowly the mute tried to sit up gritting his teeth while the hand held his gut. Able to sit fully he threw up the same sign so he knew he can.
Teneo smiled and put a hand on the other’s back to help balance them.
“You can still move. You body’s reacting to your brain. Your spine is still in tact then... I’m glad.” Teneo finally let out a sigh of relief. “Do you need me to carry you? We can get you somewhere that’ll be easier to lay down, at least.”
"You denied it when Agasha asked if we broke the mask rule, but don't think I forgot that face you made that day, Teneo. You looked so ridiculous." Just a bit of playful teasing from an old friend.
He was making that same ridiculous face now that he had been reminded of it. “That was then! And you already decided you weren’t a saint then, so we didn’t break that rule! I was only setting the record straight! I wouldn’t want to be with you just because of a mask!”
“I know! Don’t worry, I’m not holding you to that. The mask rule only applies to saints, and like you said, I’m not a real saint anymore. Don’t act so relieved, though, you’re going to make me feel bad!” More playful teasing.
“I--” He cleared his throat and tried to clear his mind. She was doing this on purpose. It was so weird being able to see her facial expressions when she talked.
“--You sound like you’re enjoying civilian life a lot. So that’s a lot of rules you don’t have to worry about.”
First Mission
livewithstrength:
celintha:
She stopped abruptly.
“Hold that thought…” She shot Teneo a loaded glance, he should understand what it meant without her voicing it. And then, she vanished.
She hadn’t noticed until now, but that was an unfamiliar, scary-feeling cosmos… She was up and in the branches in no time.
She flickered through the night, catching branches with her hands to slingshot out into darkness, landing on a branch and using the momentum to move on the next tree in a flash. Up, sideways, down, flip; the air were a three-dimensional chessboard she could tear across, practically invisible and soundless with her finesse.
“Now then…” she looked around. Where was that cosmos coming from…
“Is that a no…?“ Saro started when Celintha suddenly went quiet.
And then she was gone.
“Celintha?” He blinked and looked around in confusion. He knew she was fast, but he didn’t think she was the type to just run off and bail on them all of a sudden to show off how fast she was. Which had to mean…
Saro tensed in fear and hid behind Teneo. “D-did she see someone? Is someone there?” he whispered to Teneo fearfully. “Did they see us too?!”
@taurusteneo
Teneo couldn’t see her face, but he somehow could understand what she was trying to say without saying anything. Teneo gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes warily.
“Just stay behind me for now, Saro. I’ll protect you.”
He looked up into the trees, but he couldn’t see where Celintha had gone. “Stay on your toes. She must have seen something...” Teneo wasn’t sure what, though. He couldn’t sense as well as her.
@celintha
livewithstrength:
“I…” he muttered and sniffled. He couldn’t stop his tears. At all. But Teneo suddenly sounded so much older. “I always believe you, Teneo. You’re always so strong. I…”
Saro finally reached out and weakly accepted the outstretched hand.
“I want to be with you. I want to– I want to live. And not alone. With you. Um…” He couldn’t sound mature and elegant like the other boy.
“Then I won’t leave you alone. I promise, Saro. We’re going to stay together.” Teneo grasped the younger boy’s hand and pulled him up from the ground into a sudden hug. It was more to keep him standing than anything, but it was nice to feel close to someone again.
“I hope you can keep believing in me. I’m not going to start letting you down now. Now now and not ever. You and me are a team.”
pefkooyra:
Pefko frowned and tilted his head. He searched Teneo with his eyes. “Well, I know you didn’t want me to die, so that helps! But, um,”
“Did you think I could handle it, or did you hope I could?”
“Well, a test is a test, so if I’m being perfectly honest…” Teneo really hadn’t hoped or thought about Pefko dying out there, not as a person and not as Pefko’s friend, but as a fellow gold saint who hadn’t been training with Pefko all his life?
“Pope Shion and I were probably hoping that if you were a man worthy of the Pisces gold cloth, you could make it back just fine, and if you weren’t, this would be the proof of that.”
goldsaintleoregulus:
Regulus smiled, “I understand. You want to train hard so you could protect Saro and Celintha, so you can fight with each other and Aldebaran. I am sure Celintha and Saro feels the same too. But…"
He felt so frustrated. He never knew getting someone to relax and have fun for one day was so hard. "You know you guys can still relax for a little even now. It is like as if El Cid or Kunikida were your masters and not Aldebaran. Train all day and no fun.” He did not know if they knew who Kunikida was but he knew for sure that they would know who El Cid was. “One day of fun isn’t going to hurt anyone."
Just then he had an idea. He did not know if the idea would work but it was worth a try. "Okay as I said, I won’t force you. But have you ever been to the Rodorio village before? Have you ever even talk to the villagers at a personal level? You are training to be a saint, right? Saints have a mission to serve Athena and protect the innocents and that include the villagers in Rodorio village. What kind of saint would one be if they didn’t know anything about the villagers there or didn’t care to know about them? My uncle said that it is important to understand and know the people who you are protecting. It would be good if they get to know you as well so they can feel reassure and confident in being protect by the saints. It is like forming a bond between the protector and innocent…” Something like that, he think…Did he even made any sense? “But…it is fine, you are still a trainee and not a saint yet so I guess there is no need to get to know the villagers yet. As you said, you should probably focus on getting stronger even though I don’t think that is the only important thing."
“I’m more or less in charge of them. I make sure they don’t overwork themselves, but underworking themselves is far more dangerous. Especially Saro.” And Sir El Cid had three students and three cloths. Clearly Teneo’s group wasn’t working hard enough. “Besides, training is fun. Tons of fun.”
“...Regulus, if you need me to accompany you that badly, then I’ll just come. You don’t have to try to do all this... reverse psychology.” He took a deep, steady breath, and with a bend of his knees, he set down the makeshift weights he was making use of. “Better me than Celintha. --Or Saro,” he quickly added. “I’d rather you not try to pull that with Saro. He would start to feel like a failure. They still have a far way to go, but I’d rather it not be rubbed in like that. Saro is sensitive...” Celintha would take it just fine, she was confident. As for Teneo, even just hearing that he was apparently failing at this vital part of being a saint stung deep, like he had just let down Sir Aldebaran, yet again. It would hurt Saro more. He might even cry.
“Just let me stretch first.” Even Teneo’s form of stretching was as extreme as his form of weightlifting. Intense, deep stretches of his arms and his legs, each held for about a minute before he slowly moved onto the next muscle group.
When he was finally done, he stood back up. “Alright,” he smiled. “Lead the way. We’re going to Rodorio, right?”
