A hormonal condition affecting 1 in 8 women around the world just got a new name in hopes of improving care.
pissing me off syndrome!!!!
I really think this change is downstream of glp-1s. which are going to be standard of care for this condition, even for people of "normal" weight, within the coming decade. There's a lot still in the research pipeline, but now that they actually have drugs that work, they can emphasize that this condition is metabolic first and gynecological second.
Long overdue but very positive, and much more helpful than "you have a condition that makes it difficult to lose weight, you can alleviate the symptoms by losing weight." Metabolic conditions have such circularity of cause and effect but intervening at the level of appetite makes so much more sense than white-knuckle weight loss or futzing around with metformin
