It’s been centuries since the rise of the Dragonets of Destiny and the lifelong impacts of their work to unite the tribes. In those centuries, handfuls of animus dragons have revealed themselves, utilizing the extensive research of animus magic, its risks and benefits, post the death of Darkstalker. Carefully refining their craft, these dragons worked alongside top scientists and engineers (primarily NightWings) to develop brand new technology, similar to modern-day Earth technology. This launched a new era in Pyhrria and beyond, causing an explosion of new information and ideas that would reshape the world forever. For a long time, this new technology was restricted to researchers and scholars, only being used to advance the growth of information and the understanding of the planet and the observable universe. But as this technology became standard, so did the introduction of smaller forms of tech that became available to the general public with the goal of making life more convenient. It wouldn’t be as pervasive as Earth’s boom in technology, at least not yet. But dragons of all status and age would have access to this new tech and information, especially in the school systems. The NightWings would develop a brand new school for the sciences, open to any and all tribes to further investigate new research and work alongside leading animus dragons for more technological advancements.
NightWings especially dominated the astronomy field, having their roots in the night itself and thriving in nocturnal environments. They have since mapped the known observable universe, discovering new solar systems and even new planets, an idea that hadn’t ever been considered before discovering that their planet was just one of many orbiting their star. There were small sects within the astronomer groups, all working on studying either their home solar system or other small parts of the universe. One such student, a NightWing named SkySeeker, had been studying their sun for decades, taking note of all the elements it was made of and how exactly it worked to help sustain life on their planet. She was the leading astronomer on their sun, her work having been proven time and time again, making her work incredibly reputable and studied by many schools across the world. She had noticed, slowly over time, a strand of infrared light stretching from the sun to a neighboring planet. It was incredibly small and insignificant at first, but had grown alarmingly fast in a matter of months. What’s worse, she noticed it was also changing the sun itself. At first, the effects were barely noticeable, but the trend was there. The sun seemed to be dimming, slowly right now, but at an exponential rate. Their time was limited, even with how early she had caught it. If allowed to, the sun would grow so dim, even the IceWings wouldn’t be able to survive the cold that would take over the planet. Everything would die if they did nothing. The line would be named “SunSeeker” after SkySeeker. The SunSeeker Task Force would be organized only days after top scholars and scientists confirmed her findings, being led by the IceWing/NightWing hybrid PreySnatcher. The astronomers created small ships to send into the SunSeeker to collect whatever substance made it up (that would later be called StarEaters) so scientists could study it to find any way to reverse its effects. This is where we find PreySnatcher seeking out who is considered to be one of the world’s most infamous biologists, a RainWing science teacher working at Jade Mountain Academy, who wants nothing more than to be a nobody.
