Meet the muslim student, Faatimah Knight, who raised $30,000 to help fix churches destroyed by fire
Faatimah Knight is pursuing an MA in Religious Studies at the Chicago Theological Seminary and holds a BA in Islamic Law and Theology from Zaytuna College.
Ms Knight’s campaign – carried out as Muslims around the world marked the festival of Ramadan - followed a smaller, more modest enterprise.
Days after the shooting dead of nine people at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, she and some friends wanted to gather $500 to send flowers; they ended up raising $900.
And when she read about the series of churches that were burned down, Faatimah carried on her quest to help these churches in need.
“All houses of worship are sanctuaries, a place where all should feel safe, a place we can seek refuge when the world is too much to bear.”
She said that Islam taught of the need to protect the weak and vulnerable. She said while the black Christian communities of the South might not be weak, they were vulnerable.
“Traditionally, when we have been on our best behaviour, we have created space for other faiths, and let people worship as they see fit.”
Finding shadow from the scorching heat of my thoughts. The heat gets into my eyes and blurs my vision for this world, for me. I have tried hiding under the cover, behind the distractions. I have failed. It kills to disappoint myself everyday. I have been betrayed by my own contemplation. I am tired of holding back to what I am not. I have failed.
As time was going on and I kept wandering with the flow as ever, here and there like you wander when you don't have a direction, when there's no place to be. Time went on and I learned that what missing was you. The day I learned by head onto your shoulder, I knew what home felt like, total perfection. But time never remains same. You taught, brought me home and took away my home from me. Now I wander not because I don't have a direction but because I know where to go, how to go but the ways are blocked by desires and self pities. I am a worst place from where I started
Day 18
Out of all the things life has to offer us, we choose things that will end up soon or leave us soon. We choose those people who are not willing to be with us. We are just attracted to those whom we repel. This is some kind of Newton's fourth law yet to be stated or some other scientific research yet to be done. This world is full of people not full but a lot of people are there who loves us and wants to be with us. All we need is an eye to identify.
Luck/mistake.
It's no big surprise to curse and cry over your bad luck. Actually not your bad luck but those are your bad bad mistakes. Getting back, the real surprise is to stay calm and think what life has to offer in exchange. There are certain things in life that need a little bit more attention than the others, your bad time is one of those.
Don't plan it's already happening!
I,me&myself
Speak out!
Things go by the will of One who created us in the first place. Sometimes there is something more stronger than trust that you have to place Him in. He placed you in a place because that is better for you and if you still have your doubts, give Him the reasons for your wants. He knows but He wants to hear it from you. Talk and He'll explain.
Worth your stay.
All your life you're waiting for a time when you'll repent for your mistakes and you'll do something worth your stay and you'll be better than before and you will forgive all other people and all other things like that. Meanwhile You don't realise that the time is going down, you're getting closer to your origin. In this while your life is taken and you're there standing, regretting, cursing but at that moment there's exactly nothing you can change. This is the time when you can make a change. Don't let the time pass.
"People from this world are very hollow. They seem not to care, not to understand. People don't even make an effort to understand other people." Would have heard this from a lot of people. Misunderstandings lead you to a very disastrous place. And you doesn't even know a way back. You sit there in distress and think of finding ways of going back. Life treats you in different ways. Sometimes you have a lot of opportunities. There are a number of doors open. After sometime its the same life, its the same you but the doors are closed. And all you can do is to be sad, bad and mad.
You know what everyone is sad deep down. You start to get to know that once you talk yo them, everyone is sad, blue, alone, helpless in one or the way. The have things they don't know what to do about. They have pains and their own miseries. You want to help them but you can't. I don't get to see happy people a lot. I look around in hope and find people sadder than I am.
Homesick
I don't belong here. I miss being somewhere. Somewhere else. Somewhere I am at peace. Somewhere I am at ease.
Something or everything
It's so painful. One day you give your heart, your mind, your soul, your self, your everything to someone. You even feel complete with this because there is someone else's heart with you. Though you don't have yours. But the next day something unexpected and unacceptable happens. That one person returns you your heart back and you fail to return theirs. You are left with two of them and you don't know what to do about this.
