lucy gray could understand that. she had always been running away from the person she had been in the arena. the girl who had charmed the snakes that had killed the rest of her competitors. the girl who sang in the arena... all the things that everyone had called her. but it was never what lucy gray wanted to be. "i can understand... it becomes exhausting after a while. chasing a title you never wanted."

"i'm afraid your stuck with me." judith says instantly bbumping his shoulder again, as if she was attempting to play off what she was feeling. she was near certain it didn't match her eyes the way she wanted it to. "i don't remember that. carl did to that zombie, my dad died on that bridge when i was too young, and that's fine. it's the spoils of the world we live in, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. that's why i want to make sure rj never has to forget me."
sam shook his head almost immediately, like he couldn't let that sit. couldn't let her take that weight off him. "jess…" his voice came out rough, breaking at the edges. he ran a hand through his hair, pacing once like he needed to burn off the panic rising in his chest before stopping in front of her again. "no, you can't just... just explain it away like that. like you understand." his eyes were glassy, fixed on her like if he looked away she'd be gone again. like the ceiling, the fire, all of it would come rushing back. "i left," he said quietly, the words heavy, deliberate. "i knew something was wrong. i knew it, and i walked out anyway. when i promised myself i'd never go back." he swallowed hard, jaw tightening as he tried to keep himself together, and failed, just a little. "if i'd stayed, let dean deal with it on his own..." the thought cut off, too sharp to finish. could he have even saved her? yellow eyes had it planned all from the beginning. his gaze dropped for a second before snapping back to her, desperate, searching her face like he was trying to memorize every detail. oh, how he had missed her. he always thought about her. how could he forget the only woman he ever loved? @tclerateiit
"i don't understand, i know i don't understand." that thing that was brady... well, that's just it. it wasn't brady. the yellow eyes, the stink of rotton eggs before the pain. she couldn't understand it. "if you stayed, we could have both died." jess didn't know if that was true at all. it could have been wrong, maybe it was always supposed to just be her, but thinking of something happening to sam. "i don't blame you, sam winchester." she offers her hand, as if to show him that she is physically real. that he will not touch her and disappear into smoke. "and you should not blame yourself either." she's been given a second chance here, and yes... she was struggling through it. but maybe with sam it wouldn't be so bad.
yelena eyed the drink like it was a potential threat then looked up at jo with a smirk. "mm. you do look like someone who enjoys sweet things," she said, voice teasing. "you smile too much. that's suspicious." she picked up the glass, swirling the amber liquid slowly before taking a sip. her eyebrows lifted ever so slightly. "not bad," she admitted, the corners of her mouth tugging upward. "strong enough to make me forget i was pretending to be mysterious. sweet enough that i don't hate you for making it." she set the glass down gently, tapping her finger against its rim. "you make good drinks, jo the bartender with superpowers. maybe i let you keep trying to impress me. for research purposes, of course." @tclerateiit
"i've learned to like some sort of everything." she couldn't do her job at selling the best drinks, and selling a lot of drinks, if she was stuck on one type of drink she couldn't do her job. "people are always coming in here to be mysterious, but we know this is the best truth serum." jo instantly teases her hands resting on the bar as she loooks over at the other woman. "research purposes only i'm sure. has nothing to do with someome trying to be as mysterious as you is trying to bury something with alcohol."
hopper was halfway through crossing the street when he heard it. soft. barely there. but he knows that voice. for a second he didn't even turn around. like if he moved too fast, the sound will disappear, just another trick his brain is playing on him. slowly, he looked over his shoulder. and there she was. the world seemed to drop out from under him. for a long moment he just stared, eyes searching her face like he's trying to prove she's real. like if he looks hard enough the illusion will crack. his mouth opened, closes again. the breath he let out was a shaky, almost a laugh, almost a sob. "…el?" he took a step toward her, then stopped himself, afraid that getting closer might make her vanish. "you- " his voice rough, catching in his throat. he swallowed hard. "kid…?" another step, slower this time, like approaching a wild animal he doesn't want to scare away. "i thought you were-" he couldn't even say the word. his eyes glisten but he wiped a hand over his face quickly, trying to get a grip, trying to be the solid one like he's supposed to be. "is it really you?" he knew this town had a way of tricking people. @tclerateiit
she knew it would probably be better to turn and run. then to answer the questions that would eventually spring up in this conversation. she could easily get away quick enough with or without the illusions that kali had cooked up for her. "dad..." the word slips out far easily than it should have. she had only ever openily called him that once, right before she had left him there, the last thing she had ever said to him. "it's... it's me." she repeats, but she's not willing to go into much more detail. maybe, he would just settle for the explanation that ivy cove was just that strange. el didn't know if he would ever forgive her for faking her own death.

"have to say, i think i have a habit of befriending all different types of losers." hope teases back, a playful smirk still all over her face, not trying to make the man feel bad. she scoffs after a moment waving her hand in dismiss. "it's a hunk of junk anyways, but whatever it takes to not have to go ask my sister for money." she knew she could have a nice car here, but asking valeria for anything? she wasn't interested.

"i know it does - i tried once remember?" john joked. he had tried to push her away in space. but of course it didn't last. even if they hadn't ended up back on the ground, john was certain he'd have gone crawling back to her. "emori, it's fine," he reassured her, taking her hand. "just bad memories. but we don't need to think about it. we survived. and here, we're great. nothing to be troubled about." @tclerateiit
"and what a waste of all those months in space." emori immediately teases back. the one time they hadn't been actively fighting for their lives and john had decided to push her away. but, she was never going to let that stand. they had gone through too much together. "okay..." even though she doesn't believe john, she's also not going to push it right now. she leans in pressing a kiss to his cheek. "we're great here. i think it's because you don't have any of our friends having you make bad choices."

"no one can blame you, ajax..." ember barely slept most nights. she barely even could get herself out of bed most days if the nightmares were bad. "we saw things that no one should ever have to see in that world." had done things that people here at ivy cove would never dream of. "i don't expect you to not fall to the bottom of a bottle every once in a while." ember sighs sgain softly, as she finally looks up at the older man. "but if you ever don't want to sink to that point, and want to talk to someone who understand? i'm here."

"you know i would never ask you to fake that..." cassia says gently, her hand coming to cup the mans face in hers. it does feel nicer knowing that she doesn't feel as GUILTY. loving arlo when hyacinthus didn't remember them had been difficult, knowing they were missing such a key part to their lives. but now? "i love you too, and we're officially not going anywhere. all three of us." and they didn't have to think about that awful time in their lives.

"we don't..." cassia immediately shakes her head. she had been enjoying this new bliss. hyacinthus being alive, with his memories, loving her and arlo again, it had seemed as if everything had settled again. everything had gone back to camp half blood again when they had been happy. "we are not talking about dying. not anymore." she says instantly her hand coming to cup the mans face in front of her and even though she is smiling, it's impossible to not smile around the men she loves, the idea of death after they had escaped it did not sound pleasent. "but if i had to pick a spot to spend eternity with. it would be here with you, with arlo."

bianca sighs softly, her eyes tilting up to the sky. of course, if it wasn't daylight, they would be able to find their way easily. she could read the stars, the moons, trust her goddess to guide her even in the strangest of places, but now. "we could always just..." she pauses for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing together, and setting onto the stump nearby. "retrace our steps, i guess... try and get back to the main trail."

She curls her hands into fists to stop herself from covering her ears. "I didn't help him, I couldn't...no." Her breathing starts going uneven as she shuts her eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
beth pauses for a moment, her eyes widening. she hadn't been meaning to upset the other woman in the slightest. in fact, beth really tried to not make things harder for people. "you don't need to apologize." the girl immediately says shaking her head. "just one mistake from your past doesn't have to change your life. especially... we have a fresh start here." hell, if she could come back to life? anything was possible.

"I told you it would be worth the climb." Tuk commented, a bit of a pant to her voice as she took her hat off and fanned her face with it. "I love watching the sky from above the town." She plopped down, her eyes glued to the sky she wished she could fly through.
"you were absolutely right." beth hadn't been on this side of the world lately, who really had the time for it? but, she had a day off and lyanna was at work, and maybe she needed things to keep her busy and occupied. "you never realize just how small our town is until you're looking at it from up here."
luke couldn't help the grin that broke across his face when he saw her expression. that quiet awe, the blush he knew she was trying to play off with a joke. it hit him harder than he expected. like maybe, just maybe, he was allowed to do something right this time. he scratched the back of his neck, feigning casual even though he was watching her like she was the only real thing in the world. "yeah, well… i figured the ritz didn't have fireflies, and i didn't think you'd go for room service if it didn't come with burnt smores and memories of nearly getting caught sneaking past the barrier." he watched her step into the clearing, under the soft golden glow of the fairy lights he'd strung through the low branches. the blanket, the food, the tiny little lanterns flickering against the tree trunks. it was simple. but it was them. or, what they used to be. what he hoped they could be again. "it's not much," he said after a moment. "but i wanted it to feel like… before. like when it was just us. before everything got so.... broken." luke stepped up beside her. "i didn't think i'd ever get something like this again, aria. a second chance. with you." he glanced down, a half smile tugging at his mouth. "i didn't want to waste it." @tclerateiit
aria was really, really trying to play this off. she had always had feelings for luke. it had never been a secret. this stoll brothers had spent summers teasing her near the end about how she would stammer and blush, and turn into a mess at even the slightest bit of attention from luke, and this.. the fairy lights, the lanterns, the clear effort to bring her a little piece of home. "no... no this is everything." she finally says having to force a shaky breath just to attempt to keep some tears at bay. happy tears. she turns so she's fully facing the other man, her eyes tilting up to meet his. "i don't want to waste this either." aria did not realize that there was even an oppourtunity for a second chance. "but you need to promise no more... no more fighting. if we're given this second chance, it's for us to do something good. for us."

"i suppose that is a comfort." ama speaks the first sentence gently, but the weight of the words seem to weigh on her. even when they die... she had always thought about when she hadn't survived that attack on asgard. when she had been willing to die for what her father swore to protect instead of walking away from it, from loki. "that even when we leave this plane, that we will be remembered."

Elyra smiled, chuckling softly at the other woman's words. "I suspect you've read your own fair share of books, but I can respect you avoiding the fight. Most arguments are not always worth their time as it is. It is wise, picking your battles."
"oh absolutely." annabeth says with a small laugh shaking her head. it hadn't always been that way. growing up, she had wanted to read but the words had stayed just out of reach. "i know how to pick my battles, trust me. if not, i wouldn't get any rest. i'm too stubborn to give uponce i've started something."

"well, i think your wrong." alicent instantly argues with a bright smile on her face, clearly all jokes. she knew it was less than ideal, but she wasn't handy. she paid for people to come fix this for a reason. but sure, things happened. and the small sink leak she had wasn't that bad. she could wait for it to get a bit worse. "i'm not paying someone to fix a small sink leak, so duct-tape has to be the best case scenario."
