Autumn Poetry
Meet me as November dies beneath the rain-patterned skies. - Bring me a kiss - or two. Remind me why I fell in love with you. - Bring me snow and ice, wind and rain, a warm hand to release my fingers from pain. - Kick up the leaves, lay down the frost. Hide away the flowers of summer lost. - Steal my dreams of starting anew. Autumn, tell me why I fell in love with you.
I linger in the soft embrace
of November’s darkness,
lighting candles for past lives
and dreaming of you.

Erosion
Loving you is a soft erosion.
You turn my sharp corners
into rounded edges.
Toss my jagged pieces
into smooth sea glass.
You dampen my rage,
tame me into something
you can hold
in the palm of your hand.
My scars are washed away
by the relentless
loving hands of your tide.
I am grown over by moss
and wildflowers bloom
from my cracks.

May love weave flowers through your hair.

Summer's End
There is autumn in your eyes and lost time in my sighs.

Listen
Listen to the darkness.
Listen to how it whispers
the fluttering beat of your heart.
Like wings of gossamer,
a flickering drumbeat
against the cage of your chest.
Listen to the darkness.
Listen to the secrets
it breathes from the hidden
depths of your soul.
Like the instincts
you carry with you
from past lives
and buried bones.
Listen to the darkness.
Listen to your name called
by a midnight breeze.
Like a howl to the moon
and a half forgotten self.
Listen to the darkness.
Listen to the songs
your ancestors sing.
Like a reminder
of where you came from
and a map with old paths
to follow.
Listen to the darkness.
Listen to my silent voice.
I am the self you once knew.
The name you have forgotten.
The shadows that life told you
to bury deep.
Listen to me,
and set your clipped wings free.

I want to drift through
your waking dreams.
Swim in the moonlit lake
of your imagination.
I want to cling to your body
like it's the only thing
keeping me afloat.
I want to spin
in the eye of a storm,
an endless waltz
until the end of time,
and dance through
the shadows of the dawn,
adorning my hair
with frozen stars.
I want you to drown me
in your pleasure
and devour
my lost selves.
I want to drink the saltwater
of your tears
and bury your darkest fears.
I want you to hold me
beneath the branches of the sky
and build a palace
fragile as smoke.
And when the sun's divine light
shreds through our intimate darkness
we will dissipate with the night.

Erasure
I exist most in another world.
A world layered over this one.
Full of people I have never met
and too much knowledge at the click of a button.
I exist most in another world
full of hate crimes and too much noise.
I forget to eat, sleep, think.
I forget to smell the flowers.
I exist most in another world,
or perhaps I don't exist at all.
I wear a mask of codes and numbers
facing a slow and relentless erasure.

Summertime Sadness
Your days are an endless struggle not to drown,
but every now and then
sunlight pierces the fog that chokes your mind:
a glimmer of white wings
and summer blooms,
a breath of air
and a birdcall
reminding you that you are alive.
— AzureOblivion
Old as the stars
Stitch your name
into my heart
so my soul may remember you
in another self.
Time is an ocean
of wandering ghosts
searching each shipwreck
for a forgotten love.
My past lives settled
on the seabed
like lonely bones
waiting for a drifting spirit
to gift me a new home.
Weave a new beginning with me
soft as a sunrise
and threaded with gold.
Our love is immortal,
though impossible to hold.
It flows like a river,
travels like a breeze,
burns as bright as the sun
and grows strong as the trees.
Don’t doubt the truth
etched deep in your heart:
Our souls are eternal,
older than the stars.
— AzureOblivion
My name is no longer on your lips.
It has been reclaimed by the wind
that tangles in your hair,
and blows dandelion seeds
out into the world
with a breath.
— AzureOblivion
I will not stand still.
I will pour through fingers
that grasp to hold me.
I will flow like a river of light.
I will bloom petals,
grow wings,
reach for the sun
and take flight.

Penny Dreadful did her time,
growing bitter and old
while her husband
aged like wine.
He tasted the lace in his tea,
hemlock and lily of the valley,
and packed her off to rot
in the city penitentiary.
Murderous wife
and unfit mother
was exactly what he called her,
though he didn’t yet know
that the baby was not his daughter.
He raised a cuckoo in his nest
and taught her to bear his name
so that when she was old enough to wed
she would bring pride back to his name.
But the girl grew up vengeful,
poisoned by her mother’s words,
and when she was sold to an unfit husband,
she flew away with the other birds.

Berlin
This song reminds me of watching spring unfurl
on bare trees outside my window,
alone but not quite lonely,
lying on my apartment floor
as I hold my inner broken-hearted girl
through quiet pandemic days.
This song reminds me of the glitter
of snow beneath bus headlights,
of a blanket of stars in a frosty sky,
of my breath rising to meet falling snowflakes
after a delayed three-hour flight.
This song reminds me of walking by myself
through streets haunted by the ghosts
of people like me,
who lose themselves to find themselves,
and the poems they wrote in between.

Sunday sunshine
streaming through
the blinds.
Steam rising from
my favourite cup,
your legs and hand
entwined with mine.
Books teetering
in towers piled high
with love and abandon,
while paint dries
on canvases
decorated with dreams.
I don’t need promises
nor grand gestures
nor diamonds and fortunes,
I just need a work of art
to admire,
and a poem in my heart.
— AzureOblivion
My poems for you fall flat –
I cannot encapsulate
a feeling in verse,
nor capture a moment
with you in a painting,
nor write the song
our heartbeats hum
to one another
through our chests.
I cannot describe
the exact colours
in your eyes
gleaming with sunlight,
nor compose a melody
that evokes
the warmth of your skin
beneath my fingers.
The words I need
have not yet been invented,
but perhaps we can
paint our dreams
and learn our language
together.
