☆ She had eyes like a map drawn in sepia. Every fleck a place you wanted to find, every shade a road that didn't have a name yet.

Fairy tale ideas part two!!

✧ Cinderella's glass slipper wasn't lost by accident. She left it deliberately, knowing the prince would come looking. She needed him out of the palace. She needed him distracted. She needed exactly seventy-two hours to finish what she'd started in the east wing while every guard in the kingdom was busy searching doorstep to doorstep for a girl with small feet. The prince never did figure out why half the royal treasury was missing by the time he found her.

✧ "The wolf didn't eat grandmother. Grandmother is the wolf. Has been for forty years. Little Red knows. Little Red has always known. The hood isn't for warmth or fashion, it's a signal, sewn in a particular shade of red that means 'I am one of yours, do not touch me.' The real danger in those woods isn't the wolves. It never was."

✧ Rapunzel cut her own hair on a morning in early spring, knotted it into a rope, and climbed down before anyone came to visit. She'd been planning it for two years. She had a bag packed, a name picked out, and a destination in mind. She was three villages away before the witch even noticed the tower was quiet. The prince, for the record, arrived at an empty tower, called up twice, and went home. He had other things going on.

✧ The Pied Piper didn't take the children out of cruelty or malice or revenge, though the town would spend generations telling it that way because the truth was harder to live with. The truth was the children heard the music and they chose to follow. Every single one of them. And some of them, the oldest ones, the ones who'd been watching their parents move through life like sleepwalkers, knew exactly what they were leaving behind. Two of them came back eventually. They never talked about where they'd been. But they smiled differently after. Like people who know something the rest of the room doesn't.

✧ Snow White didn't eat the apple out of vanity or hunger or naivety. She ate it because she was tired. Seven years of hiding in a cottage, cooking and cleaning and being relentlessly cheerful for seven men who meant well but took up so much space and air and noise. Seven years of being the fairest, the sweetest, the most grateful refugee anyone had ever housed. The apple was a door and she walked through it willingly and the sleep that followed was the first real rest she'd had since she was eleven years old. The prince waking her was, frankly, the rudest thing anyone had ever done to her.

God I know they won't show it but I would KILL to see Adrien's therapy sessions.

Adrien, on his 5th consecutive hour ranting about all the shit Gabriel did to him: Oh, and don't even get me started on the Sensory Deprivation Chamber.

His therapist, who by the second hour was wondering if it's possible to call child protective services on a dead person: Dear Christ, the WHAT.
