Ode to my wife and all my cosplay family:
The lamp glows white on the table tonight.. Not a chance of sleep to be seen.. A list of fabrication, and it makes me wanna scream.
My sewing machine is howling, and the organza is starting to slide. Gotta sew it straight, then do the other side.
Forget to eat, forget to pee, gotta get this done for Hall-o-ween Conceal that peel, they’ll never show, no one will knoooooow!
Gotta sew Gotta sewwwww
Can’t put it off any mooooore Gotta sew Gotta sew Get away, I need the floor!
I don’t care, I can hide that fray! Let the seam run onnnn, the hem never bothered me anyway.
It's funny how some glitter can get spread out so damn far, all these iridescent sparkles on the cats and in the caaaaaaar! It’s time to see what this needle can do, six layers, it will break through! No twine, no glue, MORE SPOOLS FOR MEEEE, I NEEEEED!
Gotta sewwww, gotta sewwwwww! Just watch my fabric flyyyy! Gotta sew! Gotta sewwww! My machine better not die!
Stand right heeere, let me get a stay! I don’t care what’s on, we’ll just DVR it anyway!
(Sewing machine sounds interlude)
My patterns sail through the air onto the ground I’m unloading bags of folded fabric all arrrround! My thoughts are stitching together like a faux fur blast WE’VE GOTTA GO BACK, THERE’S A SALE AT JOOO-ANNNNNNN’S!
Gotta sew! Gotta sew! My original concept is gone! Gotta sew, gotta sewwwwwwww! We gotta make the con!
Bloooody hell, it’s almost daaaay! Get a pic up on Faceboooooooook! The haters never bothered me anyway…
(sewing machine catches fire, explodes)
I am currently working on TWO Elsa costumes for Halloween this year. One for my daughter and one for my friend's daughter. I think my husband is either amused or becoming frustrated with hearing my sewing yammerings because he wrote this for me today.
Masked Matter-Horn off to save Maretropolis! (Big thanks to my husband ahormozi Arian Hormozi for the first two fab photos!) My 4 year old daughter loved the costumes in the Power Ponies episode and asked last minute if I could make her the Masked Matter-Horn (Princess Twilight Sparkle) costume for Fanime 2014 along with her Rainbow Dash Grand Galloping Gala gown. I figured since it was a relatively easy costume to make I could squeeze it in. My daughter declared this to be her favourite of the two costumes and wore it nearly all day, including through lunch -- she refused to take it off. I do have to admit that while I enjoyed the complexity of the Rainbow Dash gown and how it turned out - I think Masked Matter-Horn ended up being my favourite also! If you'd like to see some of the construction photos - please feel free to visit my FB album on Naomi Hormozi Designs.
A few more pictures of Fanime day 2 with pandorasmusicalbox as my newly found Elsa! The uhamazing Brave cosplayer » terminally-capricious ! The little girl as Rainbow Dash is so cute!!
Itty bitty Rainbow Dash is my daughter!
Off to the Grand Galloping Gala! My 4 year old daughter Lily asked if I could make her Rainbow Dash's Grand Galloping Gala dress for Fanime - however we debuted it a weekend early at the Big Wow! Comic Fest. Lily wanted it to be as close to the show dress as possible, so I felt heading down a Regency Era dress / open robe avenue might work well. She was thrilled to finally be able to wear it! If you'd like to see more photos of the construction and being worn, please feel free to visit my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.235804713291787.1073741841.162519147287011&type=1
Lily's Robe a la Francaise made another outing today to the San Jose Fantasy Festival. Lily wanted to be a fairy princess, so we re-purposed her dress and I made her some wings and a fairy flower crown to go with it. And glitter. LOTS of glitter. Photos of the wing and crown construction can be found on my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/HormoziDesigns

Galaxy Quest (1999)
I had originally not wanted to see Galaxy Quest because I heard that it was making fun of Star Trek. Then Jonathan Frakes rang me up and said ‘You must not miss this movie! See it on a Saturday night in a full theater.’ And I did, and of course I found it was brilliant. Brilliant. No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did. - Patrick Stewart
Shortly after Halloween last year, my daughter mentioned to me that she wanted a party for her 4th birthday, specifically a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic party. We haven’t had a birthday party for her yet and seeing her birthday is also MY birthday (yes! We were both born on the same day!) — we’ve usually spent the day going on a trip somewhere to do fun things. Because she finally asked for a party — we figured why not? Let’s do it! Of course, me being me decided that EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM (and dad and friends) needed pony ears and cutie marks. It involved tons of crafting and sewing but with the help of some fabulous friends, I managed to pull it off and Lily and I had an absolute blast!

Yesterday, my daughter gave me some flowers she picked right before my husband and I had to leave for a service and celebration of life for a dear friend who has passed on. It was a lovely and thoughtful little gift on a day of sadness.

Excellent! We shall start a toddler fashion revolution!
Sewing goal: The feathered dress on the right. Pure love!
You are SO TALENTED and the historic princess costume you designed for your daughter is AMAZING. *o* I'm jealous!
anglosaxonbratAw, thank you! <3 I’m not so sure I’d say talented, I know how to sew and that’s about it. I think the words “obsessively determined” might be better suited. When one is obsessively determined, ANYTHING can be achieved! :D

what killed me were the birds in her hair....
I originally wanted to do a ship - but my daughter was all "OH NO YOU DON'T! A princess doesn't wear a ship, she wears a crown!" But I did manage to convince her that princesses wear birds in their hair ;) And wow! I finally figured out how to reply to people! :D
