So yahoo has locked me out of tumblr on every other platform except mobile. I have pleaded with help staff and hope I can get it resolved. It strange because I do not use it as much anymore, but loosing access to this weird internet blog would feel like loosing access to part of myself.
WHY ARE YOU LONELY: A TEXT GAME - Mallory Ortberg
WHY ARE YOU LONELY: CHOOSE ONE
FAILED TO NURTURE RELATIONSHIPS BORN OUT OF CONVENIENCE ONCE CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRED ACTIVE PARTICIPATION FROM YOU
WATCHED NETFLIX FOR SEVEN HOURS INSTEAD OF SLEEPING BECAUSE YOU HAVE ONCE AGAIN MISTAKEN INERTIA FOR REST
CONFUSED “SELF-CARE” WITH “SELF-INDULGENCE” AGAIN; YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF EXPERIENCING GENUINE REFRESHMENT OR RESTORATION BUT YOU DO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY AT NAIL SALONS
ONCE AGAIN CONFUSED “EMPATHY” FOR “TAKING RESPONSIBILITY” AND INVITED OTHERS TO UNLOAD THEIR EMOTIONAL BURDENS ON YOU WITHOUT FIRST ENSURING RECIPROCITY, WHOOPS
ANTICIPATORILY BLAMED OTHER PEOPLE FOR NOT CALLING YOU WITHOUT ONCE ASKING YOURSELF WHY YOU CAN’T CALL THEM
ASSUMING ANY TIME SPENT TOGETHER THAT YOU HAD TO INITIATE IS SOMEHOW LESS AUTHENTIC THAN REQUESTS FOR TIME SPENT TOGETHER THAT YOU ACCEPT
BELIEVE “PERIODICALLY EXPERIENCING THE HUMAN CONDITION” MEANS SOMETHING IS FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN WITHIN YOU
CONSTANTLY LIE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS THEN WONDER WHY YOU FEEL LIKE NO ONE KNOWS YOU
MISTAKENLY BELIEVE THAT NEGATIVE FEELINGS MUST BE MISTAKES EITHER TO BE AVOIDED OR FIXED RATHER THAN EXPERIENCED
DESIRE TO BE FULLY UNDERSTOOD WITHOUT THE CONCOMITANT WILLINGNESS TO FULLY EXPLAIN YOURSELF
BELIEVE TRYING AT SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT SHOULD RESULT IN INSTANT PERFECTION AND FIND YOURSELF HORRIFIED AND ASHAMED OF MAKING REALISTIC PROGRESS
TRY COCONUT OIL
CONVINCED THAT HONESTLY ADMITTING YOUR PROBLEMS WILL DRIVE PEOPLE AWAY BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES COMPLAINING SO INSTEAD YOU OFFER EVERYONE A PISS-POOR SIMULACRUM OF BEING EASY-GOING
STILL JUST WAITING FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN TO YOU INSTEAD OF EXPRESSING YOUR DESIRES ALOUD
THINK YOU’RE BEING PLAYFUL BUT ACTUALLY YOU JUST GET MEAN WHEN YOU DRINK
SPEND ALL YOUR TIME SAYING THINGS LIKE “EITHER’S GOOD” OR “DOESN’T MATTER TO ME” WHEN IN FACT ONLY ONE THING IS GOOD AND IT DOES MATTER TO YOU BUT YOU THINK “NOT EXPRESSING A PREFERENCE” IS THE BEST PERSONALITY TRAIT YOU HAVE TO OFFER OTHERS
PEOPLE ACTUALLY MORE AWARE OF YOUR BARELY-CONCEALED CONTEMPT FOR THEIR CHOICES AND RELATIONSHIPS THAN YOU THINK THEY ARE
NO GOOD REASON, SORRY
Mallory Ortberg plz stop laying my psyche bare for the world to see
lmao😂/smh🙄
Eli Bosnick had the best response to this ridiculousness.
“If I gave you a bowl of skittles and three of them were poison would you still eat them?”
“Are the other skittles human lives?”
“What?”
“Like. Is there a good chance. A really good chance. I would be saving someone from a war zone and probably their life if I ate a skittle?”
“Well sure. But the point-”
“I would eat the skittles.”
“Ok-well the point is-”
“I would GORGE myself on skittles. I would eat every single fucking skittle I could find. I would STUFF myself with skittles. And when I found the poison skittle and died I would make sure to leave behind a legacy of children and of friends who also ate skittle after skittle until there were no skittles to be eaten. And each person who found the poison skittle we would weep for. We would weep for their loss, for their sacrifice, and for the fact that they did not let themselves succumb to fear but made the world a better place by eating skittles.
Because your REAL question…the one you hid behind a shitty little inaccurate, insensitive, dehumanizing racist little candy metaphor is, IS MY LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MEN, WOMEN, AND TERRIFIED CHILDREN…
… and what kind of monster would think the answer to that question… is yes?”
TOUCHING PEOPLE’S LIVES IN A POSITIVE WAY IS AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET TO AN IDEA OF RELIGION.
BELIEF IN ONE’S SELF IS ONLY A MIRROR OF BELIEF IN OTHER PEOPLE AND EVERY PERSON.

Situation
Fridays at my house
Sometimes you’re 23 and standing in the kitchen of your house making breakfast and brewing coffee and listening to music that for some reason is really getting to your heart. You’re just standing there thinking about going to work and picking up your dry cleaning. And also more exciting things like books you’re reading and trips you plan on taking and relationships that are springing into existence. Or fading from your memory, which is far less exciting. And suddenly you just don’t feel at home in your skin or in your house and you just want home but “Mom’s” probably wouldn’t feel like home anymore either. There used to be the comfort of a number in your phone and ears that listened everyday and arms that were never for anyone else. But just to calm you down when you started feeling trapped in a five-minute period where nostalgia is too much and thoughts of this person you are feel foreign. When you realize that you’ll never be this young again but this is the first time you’ve ever been this old. When you can’t remember how you got from sixteen to here and all the same feel like sixteen is just as much of a stranger to you now. The song is over. The coffee’s done. You’re going to breathe in and out. You’re going to be fine in about five minutes.

When greeting card designer Emily McDowell had cancer, she got a lot of cards that just felt weird. “A get-well-soon card is kind of strange if you might not,” she tells NPR’s Rachel Martin.
So McDowell started writing nontraditional sympathy cards. They say things like “Please let me be the first person to punch the next person who tells you everything happens for a reason. I’m sorry you’re going through this.”
Check out her conversation with Rachel here.
Honestly if you haven’t seen the videos from the Anti-Corruption protests in Romania at the moment when over 300,000 people light their phones up toward the sky

I don’t know why this didn’t embed the first time but here you go:
This. Is. Incredible
Please watch this movie, guys,
It’s directed beautifully, they subtly show feminism without exclusively bad mouthing men, and without hesitating they show the issue of how girls are viewed in India. I can safely say that the level of misogyny is in a lot of Asian countries, households and community, it really hits close to home.
They even mentioned the reality of underage marriage and why it’s a problem.
Believe me, it’s an empowering movie and whoever stands with women’s rights will understand what I mean.
since the movie wasn’t mentioned i took the liberty of looking for it! It looks amazing and is the second highest-grossing film at the worldwide box office (x)
It’s called Dangal and you can watch the trailer here

D.Va’s bunny emblem is being used in the Women’s March in Seoul!!!
Hana Song would def approve of this
I’m sorry about the long post but….
You know what’s really cool about this 전디협 (전국 디바 협회 - national D.va association) movement in korea? as much as korea is known for being good at e-sports, female gamers face a SHITLOAD of ridicule and discrimination and by shitload i kid you not. The number of female gamers participating in korean mlg is alarmingly small(or none, in some games), and while some people may think it’s a coincidence, it’s not. Female gamers that are more than capable of competing in mlg are constantly turned away from the gaming scene because people believe ‘men are inherently better at games’, and even if they do participate, they receive a lot more harassment from the viewers than a male gamer would. If they do well, their success is downplayed. If they don’t, their failure is automatically attributed to their gender.
And it’s not just in mlg! The whole gaming scene in korea is a horrible, horrible place for women to be in general- almost all of my gaming friends (and myself) have gotten some kind of sexual harassment just because they got on voicechat. By sexual harassment it’s not just everyday cat-calling(which sucks on its own), women get ACTUAL RAPE THREATS over chat for making a minor mistake(or even just being there). I’m not going to go into detail because just thinking about what they said makes me want to throw up, but you’ll be surprised at how often it happens. Making things worse, a lot of famous streamers use violent language directed towards women such as 삼일한(literally an acronym of ‘women should be beaten every three days’), and make rude comments whenever a woman happens to be in their team. the men who watch this replicate their actions mindlessly, contributing to the violent atmosphere women are already in. Someone might argue Korean gaming culture is just violent and unforgiving in general regardless of gender because gamers get so competitive. Regardless of gender? I don’t think that’s the case.
the “National D.va Association” started as a twitter account managed by one anonymous person, but quickly gathered a huge following of female korean gamers standing against discrimination in the gaming scene. Yes, as someone said, Hana would certainly be proud, but that’s not really what they’re aiming for. In fact, they’re fighting to make the country a better place for Hana to be born in. A country with a gaming culture that doesn’t discourage women from playing games, where women can compete equally with men, where women can actually be at the top of the ranks without being stigmatized and disregarded. They’re actually fighting to make D.va possible.
It might just be a bunny symbol and yes, I get that people are excited to see something from Overwatch in the Women’s march, but that symbol and D.va’s existence as a character means a lot LOT more to us. Please give a big shoutout to everyone that contributed to the National D.va association! I might just be an artist in my corner minding my own business, but as a Korean, a female, and a gamer myself, I can’t find the words to express how proud and glad I am for this kind of movement to actually happen. Thank you Blizzard for Hana Song.
Thanks for reading!
reblogging this because I had no idea and fuck is this powerful. Play on Sisters! Play on!
In May 1939, as the Nazis were tightening their chokehold on Europe, the United States government rejected the SS St. Louis, a German passenger vessel carrying 937 refugees who were trying to dock at the Port of Miami.
Almost all of those refugees were Jews fleeing violence in Germany and Eastern Europe, according to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. The ship was eventually forced to return to Europe, where 254 of its passengers were killed.
On Friday, to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a pair of Jewish scholars — Russel Neiss and Charlie Schwartz — started tweeting the names of the people who were aboard the SS St. Louis, under the handle @Stl_Manifest. Read more
Y'all, it’s only Day 1, and things are looking GRAVE AF. Today Trump re-instated a law that will kill thousands of women – and I am not exaggerating here. He did this 2 DAYS after the women’s march, surrounded by a group of smirking old dudes. Lovely. The policy is called the “Global Gag Rule”.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Global Gag Rule bans health organizations around the world from receiving US funding if they so much as *mention* abortion. The organizations are also banned from providing abortion services – even though other funding sources, like donations, are used to pay for them. (The Helms Amendment bans the use of US funds for abortion abroad.) The GGR is not a budget cut for US taxpayers, it is a special stipulation for foreign aid targeting reproductive health organizations specifically.
As you might imagine, this policy puts international health centers in a very difficult position. They either lose funding for things like STI screenings and birth control, or they leave patients seeking an abortion to do it on their own.
We saw the devastating impact of this policy when President Bush signed it into effect in 2001. Take Ethiopia, where unsafe abortion is the second-leading cause of death (after HIV/AIDS). Organizations there decided they could not turn women away, and thusly experienced a massive birth control supply crisis as punishment. 16 other countries also saw US donations of contraceptives and condoms abruptly cut off. As a result, the abortion rate INCREASED.
I know it’s not their thing, but the GOP desperately needs to put on their thinking caps here. What happens when you cut off birth control access? Oh yes! More people get pregnant! And what happens when you cut off safe access to abortion services? Oh, right. People die. Every year 50,000 women die from a lack of access to safe abortion. There are literally 90 katrillion studies showing that banning abortion *does not stop abortion from happening*, it just means they happen in dangerous conditions. That’s a fact. And, at least to this chick, facts still matter.
Then there are the effects that GGR has on HIV/AIDS prevention efforts. In some of the communities affected by the rule, HIV infects as many as 1 in 4 people.
Overall, this is a law that has well documented effects of death and destruction. On what fking planet is this policy “pro life”? I’m pissed, naturally. It’s unbelievable (well, not really) that our government would put women around the world in this much danger FOR LITERALLY NO REASON. Seriously – WTF?? I will not stand for it, and I hope you’ll join me in sending a vocal NOPE to our leaders.
This week, Senator Gillibrand and Senator Shaheen are introducing bi-partisan legislation to permanently REPEAL the Global Gag Rule. They are calling it “HER Act”. It’s unclear to me what is possible given that we have a 1-party government now, but given that lives are on the line, I am going to do what I can to fight back at every turn.
PLEASE call your reps and tell them what you think of the Global Gag Rule: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
Cosponsors of H.R.586 - 115th Congress (2017-2018): To provide that human life shall be deemed to begin with fertilization.
Please boost this nonsense and if a republican won in your state for representative or senate please harass the hell out of them! Introduced 2 days ago. This is how you charge someone for murder when they get an abortion.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE!
Wait, wouldn’t this theoretically make all miscarriages involuntary manslaughter?
YUP. It wouldn’t be the first time women were held criminally accountable for miscarrying, either – it would just enshrine it into law.
It need hardly be said, this is fucking vile.
A required read from Michael Oman-Reagan.
This is all true. This all happened in Canada, and its very likely it will happen in the USA under Trump and be worse than Harper’s crackdown on Science ever was.
