I know that everyone is down today, so I’m trying to pass the happy. Here’s a little something that makes me happy: my miniature poodle. She’s cute, in’t she?
Sharing my babies too for happiness <3

Well, she seems to have made a connection to you
Tiny analysis. This was intentional, the Jealous Scully of late Season 6. She was jealous over someone who truy wasn’t a threat to their relationship. Her feelings were very strong at this point but she was very insecure about where she stood with him.

Scully watches Mulder soothing new baby
This drabble is a continuation of this fic. Thanks for the prompt Anon! Tagging @today-in-fic
Mulder jolted awake, sitting upright in his chair. It tookhim a moment to get his bearings, to remember exactly where he was. He hadn’tmeant to fall asleep, but the events over the past twelve hours had finallycaught up with him. Not that he was surprised. He wasn’t exactly a springchicken anymore and well…well the past twelve hours had been dramatic to saythe least. Scully had woken him in the middle of the night, informing him thatthe contractions she’d been having during the evening (which she’d neglected totell him about) were intensifying and suggesting that they might want to headto the hospital soon. She was three weeks away from her due date, and Mulder’s instincthad been to panic; thinking he still had weeks to prepare. Just as he’d jumped outof bed to get ready, Scully’s waters broke and so Mulder’s search for hisclothes suddenly became more urgent. They made it to the hospital in recordtime, partly thanks to the clear roads at that time of night, but also Mulderbreaking all speed limits, and he relaxed a little once they arrived, wellaware that Scully was in the best place, and this time surrounded by medicalprofessionals and state-of-the-art equipment rather than giving birth in themiddle of nowhere. At least, he relaxed up until the point Scully was informedthat her blood pressure was rising, the baby’s heartrate slowing. Their littlegirl was in distress, and so just hours after being admitted, Scully was rushedinto the OR for an emergency caesarean, Mulder by her side. He held her hand, his eyes trained on her as their daughter was delivered into the world, safe, healthy and not overly amused at her dramatic entrance. He moved on unsteadylegs to cut her umbilical cord, to watch as she was cleaned up, and then hecarried her back to her mom so Scully could get a good look at her daughter, tokiss her through streams of tears, and finally he was the one crying as hewatched Scully hold their daughter for the first time.
Yes, it had definitely been a dramatic twelve hours. Rubbingthe back of his neck, attempting to iron out the kinks, Mulder suddenly pausedas a noise to his left caught his attention, and he got to his feet toinvestigate. He approached the bassinette next to Scully’s bedside, where hesaw that his daughter was awake, moving her little arms as she began to fuss. Before she could let out a cry, he quickly scooped her up into his arms, stillamazed at how small she was. It had been so long ago since he’d held William inhis arms that Mulder had almost forgotten how tiny babies could be. And at sixpounds five ounces, their baby girl to be named later was smaller than herbrother had been.
“Sssh,” he whispered, gently rocking his daughter in hisarms, carrying her away from Scully’s bed before she could wake her. Scully hadcrashed not long after she’d been transferred back to the room, exhausted andstill feeling the effects of the anaesthetic. She’d waited for her daughter tobe brought down before succumbing to slumber, making Mulder promise he’d stayawake to keep an eye on the baby. Which he had done, until he’d fallen asleep himself.“We need to let Mommy sleep,” he said to his little girl, running a hand thoughher dark hair. Dark hair and blue eyes, the perfect combination of him andScully, he’d said to his partner just before she’d fallen asleep, then he’d pretendednot to hear Scully as she’d told him that both the little girl’s hair and eyecolor could change. “She’s very tired,” he added. “You gave us quite a scare. We weren’t expecting you for a few more weeks.” He walked slowly over to thewindow, shifting the curtain ever so slightly so he could look outside. The sunwas out, it was a beautiful autumn afternoon, fitting that his perfect littlegirl was born on this day. “Welcome to the world little girl. Do you see thatout there? It’s not perfect, far from it, but it’s yours for the taking, andyour Mommy and I are going to make sure you have everything you want.”
He paused as his little girl stretched in his arms, her facereddening. “Sssh.” He swayed from side to side, letting out a sigh of reliefwhen it seemed to do the trick and the baby quietened. “Let’s let Mommy restjust a little while longer. She’s had a busy day and she needs some sleep.Something tells me you’re going to keep us on our toes over the next few years.”He still couldn’t quite believe she was here, that he was holding his daughter inhis arms. After everything he and Scully had been through in their lives, hecouldn’t quite believe that they were here now, in their fifties, doing this. They finally had a chance to be happy, to be a real family. He only hoped theycould keep up.
“You’ve definitely lucked out in the mom department,” hesaid softly. “She’s awesome. She’s brave, strong and she knows everything. She’llbe the one to help you with your homework when you’re older. And I know for afact that she already loves you so so much. We both do. She’ll introduce you tothe rest of your family soon. There’s your Uncle Bill and his family. I pretendto hate him, but he’s mellowed out in recent years, ever since your Grandmadied. Your Mommy and I will tell you all about her too. She was one of thestrongest women I’ve ever met, other than your Mom, and I think you’re going tobe just the same.” The baby let out a whimper, and Mulder shifted her so herhead was resting on his shoulder and he could gently rub her back. “You’ve gotyour Uncle Charlie and his family too, who you’ll meet them at Thanksgiving. And then there’s William,” he said with a smile. “He’s your big brother, and he’swaiting at home to meet you very soon. At least we hope he is. He comes andgoes, but he’s been staying with us recently, and he’s looking forward tomeeting you very soon. Your Mommy and I are still getting to know him, but Will’skinda cool. Well, he goes by Jackson now, but I’ll always think of him asWilliam.” The baby whimpered again, letting out a small cry. “Sssh, I know, Iknow. When we finally name you, you’re going by that name and nothing else.”
“Says you Fox.”Startling, Mulder turned to see Scully now wide awake, smiling over at him.
“I’m sorry, did we wake you?”
“I’ve been awake for a little while. I was just watching the two of you.”
His cheeks pinking, Mulder shot her a sheepish grin. “I wasjust introducing this little one to her family.”
“So I heard.” Scully carefully shifted in the bed, takingcare not to jostle her stitches.
“I was hoping I could get her to settle, but I think shemight be hungry.”
“I got her.” Scully beckoned him over. “It’s time to shareher.”
Heading back towards the bed, Mulder placed a pillow overScully’s stomach as he’d been instructed to, then carefully transferred thebaby into her arms, before helping loosen her gown. He perched on the edge ofthe bed as Scully kissed her daughter hello, then eventually got her latchedon. “She’s perfect Scully,” he whispered, wanting to capture this momentforever.
“She really is.”
“Thank you.”
“You know you forgot something,” Scully said, tracing herdaughter’s button nose, still in awe that she was finally here. “You forgot totell her about her Daddy. He’s pretty awesome too.”
“Oh I don’t know about that.”
“He’s very self-deprecating but we love him for it.”
“Do we?”
Rolling her eyes at him, Scully turned her attention back tothe baby. “He’s a little odd sometimes, but you get used to it…” She sighed. “Charlotte?”
“I thought you didn’t like Charlotte?”
“I know, but now I think she looks like a Charlotte.”
“How does a newborn look like a Charlotte?”
“I don’t know…”
“I like it.”
“You do?”
“Yeah…Charlotte.”
After a moment, Scully wrinkled her nose. “People might callher Charlie. Charlie might think we’ve named her after him.”
Mulder smiled. “So we’ll make sure everyone calls herCharlotte.”
“I guess.”
“Or we could keep thinking of a name. Come back to it later?”
“Let’s come back to it later,” agreed Scully. “Welcome tothe world baby girl.” She looked up at Mulder, who leaned in to kiss her.
“Love you.”
“Love you too…Fox.”
The deeply worrying thing about catcalling is that the catcaller must know that their target isn’t going to turn around and fall in to their arms pleading ‘oh dear my please have sex with me here and now’. A lot of the time they know that. Often they don’t do it for that, someone who shouts ‘nice tits’ from a van isn’t trying to date you. They’re trying to humiliate you, reinforce their dominance over you; it’s an exercise of male power. It’s a way of communicating ‘I can say and do whatever I want to you, no matter how inappropriate or how uncomfortable it makes you feel, and you can’t do anything about it.’ Catcalling is not a compliment, it’s a threat.
