I'm currently under investigation for endocrine disorders. I have symptoms of hypoglycemia very often (but I know symptoms of hyperglycemia can be very similar). My fasting blood glucose was 4mmol. Just to clarify in my little mind, there's no chance that a diabetic not on any treatment would have a fasting bg that low? Because my Dr's said that my low blood sugar can be evidence of t1d but I think theyve got it all wrong.
Hi!!! Im no expert im sorry but i do thin it might be possible for a diabetic with no treatment to have a low sugar like that? Had you been exercising or not eating? But honestly i wouldn't expect that to be common, ive been a diabetic for 10 years and ive never met anyone who was diagnosed with a low sugar so if thats the case then youre really special lol :p i hope everything gets figured out soon friend!!! Keep me updated :)
hi! this is kinda random but um I was just wondering, does it hurt you when people call you or refer to diabetes as “diabetus”? I have t1d and I’ve had my dad, friends, other family members, people at school, all call me that and honestly it’s brought me to tears. but idk if that’s normal? probably not I’m probably just being sensitive. but uh yeah ig I’m just kinda looking for validation agavsbdb or if you have any tips on how to explain to them that I don’t like it?
YOURE NOT BEING SENSITIVE!!! people are so insensitive in general and especially when it comes to diabetes simply because theyre uneducated. Honestly once i realized that most of the "diabetus" jokes are just people not understanding that theres a difference between t1 and t2 it hurt me less to hear it. But believe me, it stilk sucks, especially if its coming from someone you care about and feel should know the difference. Honestly i wish i knew what to tell you im sorry :( i would just try and explain to them that its bothering you and that should stop them right there otherwise its a whole different problem on your hands. But maybe try and educate people and show them the difference and that t1 isnt the whole stereotype kind of diabetes thats usually joked about and hopefully that stops them!! Im sorry friend, just know youre not alone!!! Send me a dm or another ask if you ever need to talk/vent or if you just wanna be friends or something :))))) also sorry for just responding now !
Since your asks don’t work on main. Idk who he is but I will fight him for u
Hiii sorry im just seeing this now, what/who were you referring to? But regardless, thanks pal!!!! ♡
I’m dating a T1 diabetic right now and I read a bunch of stuff about symptoms of highs and lows, and things not to say (like policing what they eat/acting like you know more about their bodies than them) but none of the articles I found talk about the person themself if that makes sense. Do you have any tips that would be idk, maybe beneficial to know?
Yes i do! Be there for them. If they’re having a rough day, if diabetes is really kicking their ass, be patient and let them vent, and know you can’t relate but can support them.
Forgive them for being high. A common symptom of high blood sugars is anger, and usually its irrational and it should never be directed at you, but its usually very hard to control emotions when you’re running high.
If they want help keeping a schedule of set changes and such be willing to do that.
If this is a serious relationship and you want to show you really care about them, having carb counts for foods you make and knowing their schedule for insulin refills/set changes would be the ultimate romantic gesture. Coming downstairs to a fresh reservoir already filled and my breakfast pre carb counted would be heavenly. Mostly just be supportive. Love them as a whole person, not “despite” their diabetes, and be willing to learn their individual quirks and struggles with diabetes. The fact that you’re asking shows you’re doing that already.I hope some of this is helpful! Followers feel free to add on.
This applies to romantic relationships and friendships.
Reblog this if you have Diabetes.
So I have Diabetes and I was just wondering how many other Diabetics are there on tumblr. So Reblog if you have Diabetes.Â
Things I need to hear:
Your illness is not an inconvenience to those who really love you.
I once had a drunk guy tell me I was too sexy to be shooting up at a party. He knocked the needle out of my hands and stepped on the pen, shattering the casing, telling me I should thank him by giving him my number and a kiss. It was my diabetes medicine.

Chronic Illness Update:
It hasn’t gone away yet.
I really like your page. As a 23yo recently diagnosed with T2D (who has been symptomatic for years).. I appreciate the education you provide bc I have no idea what I’m doing. lol I wish that there was more focused education around T2 and/or how to help people like me. I wish people knew that T2 is a bigger issue than me eating well & exercising. I kinda feel like its ignored compared to T1. Idk I just wish I had more help&respect while dealing with T2. Anyway.. Thanks for all you do :)
Hello! Aw thank you! :) if you need any advice or have questions about something, please dont be afraid to message me!! I might not be able to help with everything because im t1 but i can do my best to try :) im sure there are a lot of other t2's out there just like you, you'll find them, dont worry!! :)

A School Included This Teen’s Service Dog In The Yearbook And It’s The Purest Thing
THE WHOLE STORY GUYS
The dog looks so nervous in the school picture
Don’t judge him, you were probably nervous for your first yearbook photo too. Â
Me when my blood sugar is low and I let myself eat everything in the house, knowing full well my blood sugar will go high afterwards
Things people newly diagnosed with chronic illnesses should know
Symptoms fluctuate
Bad days don’t last forever
Good days don’t mean you’re faking
If you think your doctor is wrong, you have the right to say so
Likewise, if you think your doctor is ignoring you, you have the right to say so and demand a new doctor
Don’t be afraid of mobility aids
You don’t have to answer strangers’ questions
Your life isn’t over
Some people might leave. They don’t matter.
The people who support you are great
You are allowed to complain
You’re not worthless
You’re loved and supported even if it doesn’t always feel like it
You are not alone
Also, it’s okay to have trouble accepting any of these things, and your feelings are ALWAYS valid.Â
It’s a never ending grieving process. You go through all the stages time and time again. And that’s normal.
I grieved for years until I picked myself up. You need to go at your own pace and accept your feeling and thoughts have merit.
