NEW LAUNCH! Life Spine Announces FDA 510(k) of the Steerable PLATEAU® Ti System

Life Spine, a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, announced on February 6, 2020 that it has received clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to market the Steerable PLATEAU Ti System.   

The Steerable PLATEAU Ti System allows for controlled delivery upon insertion to facilitate positioning in the anterior portion of the disc space and features a curved design to match patient anatomy and maximize endplate coverage.

New intravascular solutions for stroke intervention

Since the medical device industry continues to expand, key medical device players are constantly reinventing their products.

Here’s what’s new on the market from Medtronic, Stryker and Penumbra.

Balloon guide catheters:

Medtronic Cello 8F device (.075″ inner diameter) is intented to temporarily block blood flow by expanding a balloon inside blood vessels during operations, such as: urgent hemostasis, hemostasis for surgery, perfusion of blood to peripheral vessel and arterial injection for chemotherapy.

Stryker Flow Gate 8F (.084″ inner diameter) offers proximal flow control and a stable platform to facilitate the insertion and guidance of an intravascular catheter. It provides a balance of trackability and support with a large lumen and is indicated for use as a conduit for retrieval devices.

Reperfusion Catheters: Penumbra’s ACE family of reperfusion catheters (ACE68, ACE64, and ACE60) is intended for use in the revascularization of patients with acute ischemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion. The ACE catheter design further increases the distal and proximal lumen sizes, providing optimal trackability and even greater aspiration power. ACE68 is designed to easily navigate tortuous vessels to facilitate extraction of clot quickly and reliably through its large .068″ inner lumen with the deep vacuum power of Penumbra Engine.
