Staff Pick of the Week
Hot off the press and still reeking of the print shop: Soul Patch, the brand new, entirely letterpress-printed, arts and literature publication of the UWM Print Club. The Print Club joined forces with this semester’s UWM Art & Design printmaking resident Adam Beadel of Milwaukee’s Team Nerd Press to produce this work. Adam cut his printmaking chops at Kevin Bradley’s Yee Haw Industries in Knoxville, Tennessee (now transformed into Church of Type in Santa Monica, Calif.), and this lovely piece reflects that aesthetic. “Just What You’ve Been Looking For!”
Shown here are the letterpress-printed advertisement [I Will See It When I Believe It], plus all four pages of the publication. But, wait! Who’s that handsome fellow in the bottom corner of the back page? Well, whadya know? It’s none other than the Head of UWM Special Collections, Max Yela, who {ahem} also chose this week’s pick.
Stop in and see our other Staff Picks.
Thanks to Adam for the linocut rendition of my visage, and to Alice for the excellent Transformer gif.
