hello, puppy here! im writing this to explain a few things abt this blog and what im trying to do behind the scenes.
at its core, this blog started as a way to let others get to know marmalade and neptune with light roleplay. the idea of combining it with my current playthrough of eos came after, which led to having the main story going on in the background.
the way it currently works is: using my progress in the game, i can answer a certain amount of asks tied to the plot of each chapter before i move on to the next. this is what the ask limit is for, to keep track of how many asks related to the plot can be answered within a chapter. gaps between posts is "real time" to reflect how long the events of the game would be without pauses (a long term project QwQ)
unfortunately, old habits die hard and i wanted to take it a step further by plotting down the major events of chapter 6 on my calendar in time frames. I planned on drawing a cutscene for team skull's introduction to make it clear that we reached that point in the story!
what i overlooked was that, if im factoring in "real time" with how long it takes for me to draw and if i did this for every event in the game, it would be time consuming and exhausting. instead, im going to have events take place off-screen. that way, it saves me the trouble of figuring out how to adapt story scenes, but acknowledging where we are in the story and focusing on how marmalade and neptune feel.
the way i want this to go is by posting something directly after a plot point happens: for team skull's introduction, i have a post queued of neptune sick from the chief's poison gas so they can explain to the viewers what happened. i know this might confuse people who havent played eos and don't know what happens, but this blog is more a character exploration than a faithful retelling of the story anyway.
some other things: i changed the art style a little for efficiency because rendering is a pain in the ass. you might have also noticed some non-sequiteur posts like neptune drinking croagunks potions: those are for breathing room, to make it feel like there are other things going on in their lives.
im also still deciding what criteria to use, but for now story and non-story asks have a 50/50 chance of being drawn or answered via text. mostly, im thinking of when they would have time to answer questions and which ones they would record themselves for. im trying to go by feel so that when you read through their blog you can easily tell when there's a tone shift, like when they have a lot of free time to answer silly questions vs. when they're locked in and trying to save the world..
im also going to bring this up in-character, but most of the "recorded" segments are meant to be from a camera pov! originally, i drew them with a laptop, but i thought a phone camera would be more suitable for bringing around. some art might not be drawn from this pov, either bc your author hates working in perspective or bc it would be hard to include, but for the most part this is for immersion purposes.
on that note, although this isn't limited to traditional pokeask rules there are still some limitations. everything sent to the inbox is received as an email, and so complies to the limits of digital communication. there won't be a way to physically interact, but gifts (who is sending them weapons!?!??) will be delivered via pelipper mail. some asks might also be reused for later on, so if it didn't get answered as soon as you expected, i might be using it for a later chapter!!
