I think my babe and I shall own a car like this one day.
Yes, we will.
Here's the last project I completed in my sculpture class this semester. It's a photo project that responded to the photos I've seen on Patagonia's social media accounts. Entitled, "When we've lost the Wild Places", I installed the same tent from the photo series in our University's gallery. On one clothesline hangs the photos from Patagonia and their staff photographers, and on the other hang my responses. I could go on and on about the intention and process, but in learning from a friend, Jackie Hinkson, art is better understood by the emotion it creates than the artist explaining to an increasingly insecure audience.

The Real Theater of Dreams
When talking about soccer, we all have a tendency to get a bit overwhelmed by transfer budgets, sponsorship contracts and wage allowances. The modern game is one dominated by a never-ending news cycle thatâs difficult to avoid; one in which is cynicism has a certain inevitability. But while FIFA officials and fascist fans conspire to drag us down, soccer remains a childrenâs game; a fact that was made clear in Portland this afternoon.
Teaming up with the Make-A-Wish foundation, the Portland Timbers gave 8-year old Atticus Lane-Dupre, who was diagnosed with Cancer last fall, a moment in the spotlight. Alongside teammates from his local youth soccer side, the Green Machine, Atticus was invited to Jeld-Wen Field for a scrimmage in front of more than 3,000 fans against a group of select players from the Timbers starting eleven.
Backed by flares, signs and a variety of G-rated chants, the Green Machine took down the Timbers 9-8, with four goals coming by way of Atticus himself. Donât let the television coverage or blogs fool you: the heart of soccer emanated from the Pacific Northwest today.
Check out the photos below and let me know whether itâs just me, or if AFR headquarters are especially dusty this afternoon. [Posted by Maxi]Â
This made my day.

Uhhh what? This kid is incredible and there is no doubting the ability he already has...come on, he's playing with Buddy Guy. If he's 14 now, there is no fathoming the progression he'll have when he has more years behind him.
Welcome to Cascadia
Can two teams have a rivalry if theyâve never played before? Ask any of the more than 16,000 fans who attended Sundayâs Portland Thorns match against the Seattle Reign, the NWSLâs first foray into the deep-rooted Cascadia soccer rivalry, and the answer would likely be a resounding yes.
While the United States regularly assembles one of the worldâs more talented womenâs national teams, success on the international stage has not led to a prosperous domestic league. From the WUSA to the WPS, and the WPSL to the nascent NWSL, womenâs soccer in the United States has always struggled to find long-term sustainability.
But if the show of support in the Thornsâ home debut is any indication, thereâs good reason to wager on the NWSLâs vision for the future.
Hereâs to the Portland Thorns and Seattle Reign, for providing a good day for Cascadia, a good day for womenâs soccer in the US, and a good day for the game overall. Oh, and hereâs a full replay of the match available for all on YouTube. [Posted by Maxi]
I'd love to see women's soccer thrive in the U.S. And I'm sure this game would have been so crazy to attend and go HYFFFFEEEEEEEE
Found this young man leaning against a tree in Boston Commons, writing in a notebook: âItâs sort of hip hop, sort of poetry,â he said.
I asked him if I could photograph a page.
I pray for peace, I search for love, I hope you hear me out cuz no one ever does; we gotta stick together all we got is us; we canât stop the negative unless we spread the peace and love;
Step outside of self, step into the world; notice how everything we do affects the future boys and girls; hate crimes happen every damn day; got my momz scared my sister canât go out to play, because her fear is that some psycho feels like snatching kids today all these damn police but people still ainât feeling safe;
Why does it take a tragedy to bring people together; we know its bound to happen, we should try to stay that way forever; now this is not to say Iâm better; but at a young age I learned that birds fly together; itâs a survival tactic and I suggest we use it letâs come together, as we spread the peace and love music
In the upper right corner, are the names of the first two victims of the bombing. âI wrote them first for inspiration,â he said.
Slushy Season, or The Long, Slow Break-Up - Spring in the Rockies can be like a good relationship going through a long break up.. At first the snow piles high and everything is transformed & clean white. Itâs all beautiful, new, exciting and fresh. Eventually the romance begins to fade, new fallen snow is more of a hassle to shovel & plow than a joy to see.. Then it melts off, leaving things uglier, slushier, muddier than they were to begin with. Then it snows again, like a desperate one nighter, trying to reclaim a bit of winterâs passion. But it quickly flees again, it wasnât meant to be, and it leaves another dirty, slushy mess behind.. And it will happen again, another quickie snowstorm before summer officially arrives, final break-up sex if you will.. Iâm waxing poetic here, but if youâve ever lived through a western Winter & Spring, or a really long and tedious break up, you know what I mean.
