Dot is an e-braille reader for the visually-impaired that utilizes active braille technology.
It was created by four university students that recognized the how blind people lacked accessibility to digital information.
The smartwatch was created to increase the reading population of the blind; only 5% of visually-impaired people can read.
Therefore, Dot teaches its smartwatch users braille. Digital Trends explained that âfour sets of six dots raise and lower at speeds of up to 100 times per second in order to produce four Braille characters at a time.â
The wearableâs capabilities include: watch, notifications, navigation, alarm, and Bluetooth 4.0.
