So, what IS proshipping? Proship is a stance (not pro as in problematic, pro as is for) meaning being anti harassment and anti censorship, aka “fuck the purity police”. Comship has two sides, light shipping and darkshipping. Lightshipping is shipping a complex but legal ship (like Luz and Amity, human x nonhuman). Darkshipping is almost always confused with proshipping, but proshippers are not all darkshippers. Darkships are illegal FICTIONAL ships (incest, pedophilic ships, rape, etc). Darkshipping is usually a coping mechanism that should be done in PRIVATE and in addition to other ways of coping and therapy. I’m not really a darkshipper, but I’m a darkship ally because “weird” and “gross” kinks are what built the LGBT community as we know it, but I also recognize that darkshipping should be done either in private or in spaces designated for it. Things like fauxcest, CNC, ageplay, petplay and other weird shit is what BUILT queer pride. I ship one singular darkship because it’s hinted at IN CANON, but I do it quietly. I’m anti censorship in general , including weird stuff and stuff that I don’t like or agree with. People shit on ageplay, which to me is weird as shit, but if it’s between consenting adults I don’t give a fuck. I’m also radinclus (radical + inclusionist) which also makes me hated in the internet. I am chill with bi lesbians/gays, gaybians, gaygirls, turigirls, lesboys, trans man lesbians, etc. My whole thing is anti censorship- which doesn’t mean “kink should be in public”, it means that adults should be able to engage in whatever weird shit they want if it is safe, sane, and consensual. I “darkship” (not really, I just see MYSELF in darkships, not the actual characters) specifically brother/brother stuff, because of the fact I always wanted an older brother and never had one, and being the oldest child in an abusive family was very stressful. That’s one of many ways I cope with my traumas, but I don’t post about it and I keep it to myself. Incest irl is horrible. But I think it’s perfectly fine for someone to make a post on a specific tag with clear MDNI tags about wanting to bang their “sibling” (as in, a fictional one or a non-family members role playing in kink).
