I've been talking with a few friends about the difficulty finding ship content in this fandom, and to take a couple of cues from an adjacent fandom, I'd like to propose we band together under a broader 'dsmpshipping' tag. Over my months in this fandom, I've found a community mostly by chance- by crawling through tags and linking tumblr accounts to ao3 handles and once by just bursting into a discord channel and saying 'hey, i think these two characters should kiss'.
Honestly? The notes and kudos and secret discord invites bear out. There are shippers in this fandom. Let's figure out how to communicate with each other.
Although this proposal is coming from someone with a positive stance on shipping, I think this tag would be useful regardless of one's personal stance. it will make it easier for people to block each other and move on, and will remove ambiguity in some cases where there's previously been ambiguity- I'm thinking primarily of tntduo here, but there are definitely others. If it's tagged as ship, it's intended as such; if it's not tagged as ship, it's not. it will also make it easier for people who do not like ship content to avoid it by having a single, easily-blockable tag.
I think everyone on this hellsite will have a happier, healthier experience if there's an established way to differentiate nonship and ship content, and I'd love to hear other takes from people whose stances aren't solely 'ship content shouldn't exist at all'. (pro-tip: if you send me an ask saying 'ship content shouldn't exist', I will screenshot it, send it to the groupchat to mock, and delete it)

That one Phil/Techno/Quackity fic is finished and posted! It’s my first time writing Quackity- he’s got a hell of a voice, I had a ton of fun writing him.
a thousand lights in the sky (and none of them stars)
summary: Philza makes paper lanterns to beat away the dark, and they guide his boys home over and over again. A set of three interconnected stories taking place over the span of some twenty years, each from a different point of view. (Title from “The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows” by Gang of Youths.)
notes: this fic took me six months to write for literally no reason. i kept coming back to it in between other projects, and now that it’s finally wrapped up idk what i’ll do with myself (said as i kick 17 other wips under the carpet).
chapter one: techno.
For some reason to do with the axial tilt of the Earth and its rotation around the Sun that Techno has never bothered to investigate, at the North and South Poles the sun only rises and sets once a year. They get a solid one hundred and eighty days of relentless sunlight, followed by a sunset and another hundred eighty-odd days of endless night.
It had been bright and sunny when he and Phil had gotten to the continent, and they hadn’t thought much about it. It’s not particularly easy to tell when the sun is shining outside from the stronghold, after all. There’s small cracks in the walls of ice surrounding them where the ice is thinner and light shines through, but it’d still taken them nearly a week to realize the sun just didn’t set ever.
Phil was perfectly pleased with that particular arrangement. They stayed indoors enough as it was. It was nice to be able to go out and get some sunlight when he wanted it, even though it fucked up their sleep schedules majorly for a while before Phil had gotten the bright idea to put up clocks where they could see them.
But the sun had set, suddenly and unexpectedly, and now they’re two months into a nighttime that’s driving both of them nuts. Phil doesn’t work as much, keeps napping in the middle of the day and abandoning his projects half-finished. Techno can’t quite say he’s unused to long hours spent in the dark — he hardly saw sunlight before he was twelve, really — but even he only managed to keep up as normal for about six weeks before throwing his hands up in surrender and escaping to an extended resource-gathering expedition.
He’s on his way back from that now. He should reach Antarctica around noon — he left his camp in the early morning, selfishly hanging around to watch one more sunrise before taking off. He’s expecting it to still be dark when he gets there. If winter lasts as long as summer did, they’re in for a long night.
What he’s not expecting is that the mountain of ice they’d built their base in shines beneath his plane, lit up from within, as he reaches the continent.
Blue Sonder AU (elaborating on this very short earlier post)
Ranboo is a human child wandering around Phil’s forest that Techno finds and picks up. All the others got to adopt kids (Wilbur adopted Tommy, Tommy adopted Tubbo) into the group and this kid is adorably pathetic (also whenever they return with another kid Phil absolutely lights up and Techno wants to see him like that all the time).
Well turns out Ranboo isn’t just a pathetically weak normal human, he’s actually cursed. Ranboo is from a village who sacrifice a child every year to the Ender Dragon for protection. The Ender Dragon is a cruel protector and transforms all of her human sacrifices into mindless slaves. Ranboo escaped in the middle of the ritual sacrifice and broke the curse halfway through. It’s still slowly changing Ranboo though. Half of his skin is black, and sometimes he goes into a dormant state where he shuffles around like a zombie and attacks anything that looks him in the eyes. If the black spreads to cover his entire body his transformation will be complete and he’ll be just another mindless creature. The curse has also torn apart his memory losing large portions of his childhood before the ritual and leaving him to struggle to remember new ones.
The curse is ancient, resilient magic created by the Ender Dragon herself and thus outside of Phil’s and Techno’s realms as Forest Spirit and Demon King respectively. The only one who can undo the curse in the Ender Dragon herself. More specifically, it requires her blood.
Phil and Techno venture into the Ender Dragon’s lands. They find her and ask for the cure. She laughs in their faces. She would never lower herself to spill her blood for a pathetic bunch of mortals. She’s disgusted that two immortals such as themselves would disgrace their names by even taking the human child in.
Phil and Techno (no matter what Techno says) have grown attached to Ranboo ever since Techno first plucked him out of the woods and dropped him on Phil’s doorstep. The kid fits into their family perfectly, sowing chaos with the others and following one of them around like a lost puppy when he’s bored or wants attention.
Asking isn’t the only way to get what they want. Techno was the king of kings in the Underworld, and Phil has survived for hundreds of years against all who tried to drive him out. Dragon blood shimmers pink in the jar they collect it in. The Ender Dragon’s body lies cold and lifeless in the middle of the battleground.
The dragon blood doesn’t quite turn Ranboo back to normal. Instead, the sickly green magic shimmering in his eyes fades away and is replaced by a glowing purple hue. The blackened skin flakes away to reveal his normal pale skin covered in patches of black scales. After a deep fever and a lot of screaming, small wings sprout from his back and the beginnings of horns from his forehead.
Techno and Phil slayed a dragon, so Ranboo has become one.
What about this. An AU Dimension where the hybrids are hunted and killed.
I have to explain this headcanon I have: I have this generally thought where the chat is actually very useful, for example, after the execution the chat gave Techno the coordinates of the chest with his guns, but he didn't take the oportunity for lore reasons. So...
Techno is mining like he normally does in the Nether but when he pass through the portal he isn't in the tundra, he's in a garden in the middle of a forest. His first thought was that the portal spawned bad or something because the fuckin sunlight really hurt his eyes, but when he turns around to come back to the Nether te portal is just not there.
Whatever, he can do another one, but, oh surprised! He hasn't any blocks of obsidian, now he needs to find some lava to create the portal and he is mad as hell.
The chat starts screaming about the danger, and how the citizens will kill him if they see that Techno is a hybrid, even if Techno doesn't believe his chat he took precautions, I mean, the mask he wears covers almost his entire face, except for his lips and fangs.
In the little town, he listen how everyone is talking about "Dream" the hybrid hunter and all the shit he does, this Dream is in the town square holding a siren hybrid head that he killed near of there. This guy is serious, screaming of how he's the best and no one can stop him, then, Dream center his attention in Techno, who looks so sus because no one ever seen him before.
He try to humiliate Techno because he wears the mask and actually threaten him for the fangs, Techno si more relaxed, saying is a war trophy that Dream could never have at the end he leave the town saying "I'm going to kill you with your own axe".
When he finally was in the exit road he see a lot of heads like skewers in spears, one of the was his head. By this point Techno knows this was not his dimension.
He made a house in the middle of the forest and in his first visit to the Nether the piglins just get around him like if he was their God, they help Techno to know where are all the hybrids or what the humans do with them.
He finally finds a familiar face, Wilbur.
He was an avian, his wings are brown and he is so injured and scared, Techno starts to kill people to calm the voices and heals Wilbur in a long process of trust, Wil thinks he's another human who want to hurt him but eventualy he win the trusts of the avian and he tell his story.
Before getting captured he had a family, his father Philza, his mother Kristin and his little brother Tommy, during the kidnaping, those humans hurt Kristin, Tommy was mad about but to not deal with the problem, the rebel hybrid, they killed both.
His father and he were taken to a black market to be sold as slaves. After that Wilbur never seen his father again. At least, Techno knows the Philza in this dimension may be alive, the question was, where?
A few days later, Techno and Wilbur know about an ambulant circus who round around with hybrids as the main attraction, so, they make a plan, to keep the hybrids safe, Wilbur and Techno starts to built an basement under Techno's house.
Techno will have the opportunity to ride Carl and visit the circus to count how many hybrids are in there and all the rooms they have to made to keep the hybrids.
The first impression Techno's had was good, a large tent, some cages he supposed were for the hybrids and some other things like food and prizes. It wasn't a circus as such, more like a zoo but Techno wasn't in charge to put the names.
The bad thing starts when he starts to recognize the faces in the cages. Tubbo and Schlatt in one, Niki in a huge fish tank, Eret, Puffy, Sapnap, he can continue the list, all of them chained, neaked and weak, but that one, the main attraction had his entire atention.
It was Philza.
They called it "a real angel" but he looked so sad and done with his life that Techno can't stop looking him and think about how he will get him out of it. Totally broke his heart seen the Angel of death just sit in there waiting for his own death.
All the vitality why Techno fell in love with him was totally gone, so, he can't wait to finish the basement and rescue all of them.
It was involuntary, Techno almost scream "I want him, put a price" the guide just laughed and said "It's not for sale" but Techno don't gave up "Any price, I would pay anything for him". Again he's rejected and in a final try he threaten "I'll have him, no matter how cost".
Finally Techno leaves the circus. It wouldn't be the last time he would return.
Kikis delivery service au? 👀 Please go on, that’s one of my favorites of the ghibli movies and I would love to hear your thoughts on it
(Also really dumb idea but Tommy as Gigi but he’s a raccoon. Who for? Yes. Regardless of who is Kiki- oooooh and there’s that artist lady with the crows-)

Ok so here's some thoughts I have about it off the top of my head:
When Phil was 13, he left home as young witches do (with his dove familiar, Wilbur) to find his way in the world and whatever his special talent was because every witch has a special talent. He finds his way to a big city and settles there, finding work at a garden centre. He was always good with plants and he enjoys his job, even if it's a lot of work. There's even a bakery down the street he often visits and becomes friends with the owner.
One day when Phil visits the bakery, he notices that the owner is acting different and seems much more quiet and closed off. It doesn't take much pressing from him to get her to tell him what's wrong.
"It's my son. He's sick and I can't afford the medicine he needs," she eventually admits.
Phil gets more details from her about her son and he heads back to where he's staying, pulling out an old book he'd packed before leaving. It's an ancient journal written by one of his ancestors about herbs, potions and brewing medicine. He gets to work, figuring out which potion he needs to make and collects the plants he needs to it from the garden centre. It takes a few trial and errors but eventually he successfully makes the potion he needs.
He brings it to the bakery's owner and gives her the proper instructions on how to give it to her son before leaving.
A few weeks later when he visits the bakery, the owner is delighted to see him and tells him that his potion worked! Her son is still recovering, but he was no longer sick and almost healthy again.
The owner brings Phil to meet her son, Techno, who just turned 3. Techno loves Phil right away, especially because he knows Phil is the one who helped him get better. Over the next few years, Phil often visits the bakery and will sometimes babysit Techno, spending time with him.
Eventually though, Phil figures it's time for him to leave the city and to head back home. Techno is naturally distraught and is angry at Phil, thinking his friend is leaving him for good. But Phil promises he'll send Techno letters and definitely visit whenever he gets the chance.
Phil returns home and makes good on his promise, sending Techno letters at least twice a month and Techno always writes him back (well, he tries his best, being only 5 and all).
But then...Phil's letters slow down to once a month. Then once every few months.
The last letter Techno receives from Phil is wishing Techno a happy 6th birthday, and how Phil will try to visit in a few weeks if he can.
He never does.
Despite this, Techno keeps sending letters, hoping maybe if he sends enough Phil will reply. But as more time passes, he realizes that's it's probably useless and knows that Phil won't reply. Techno doesn't give up completely however and once a year, he'll send Phil a letter, telling him about all the things that have happened to him in the past year. He always ends the letter by saying how he misses Phil and hopes he's okay.
Years pass and Techno grows up, eventually inheriting the bakery from his mother who passed away when Techno was 18. Techno is an amazing baker, but because of his giant size and generally terrifying appearance+social anxiety and awkwardness...he isn't good at running the bakery and interacting with people. So, he hires another local baker named Niki to help him out. They're both great bakers and work well together, but Niki is usually the one manning the front and interacting with customers while Techno stays (hides) in the back.
Eventually, Techno (and Niki) take on an apprentice named Ranboo. He's not the best at baking yet, but he has a genuine interest in it and is great at making cookies and decorating cakes.
One day, while Ranboo is helping closing up the bakery with Techno, he's notices a little yellow raccoon with a green bandana tied around it's neck, digging through the trash. It hisses and runs away as soon as it spots Ranboo, but it's back the next night. This time though, Ranboo is prepared and has a spare loaf of broad to offer the raccoon. The raccoon still hisses at him and runs off, but not before nabbing the bread from Ranboo.
This becomes a routine for about a week, Ranboo feeding the raccoon any spare food from the bakery. At the end of the week, Ranboo decides to follow the raccoon. Because it's clearly going somewhere with the food and the bandana around it's neck probably mean it belongs to someone.
That's how Ranboo meets Tubbo - a witch in training, who wasn't able to find a place to stay and has been wandering the streets for the past week. His raccoon familiar, Tommy, was taking the food that Ranboo gave him and giving it to Tubbo to eat since he had no money or food left.
Ranboo listens to Tubbo's plights and after thinking it over, Ranboo comes up with an idea: Tubbo could live with Ranboo in the spare attic above the bakery that Techno let's Ranboo stay in!
Tubbo doesn't hesitate and accepts Ranboo's offer. They do attempt to hide Tubbo's presence from Techno, unsure of how he'll react to a witch (or you know, just a strange random teenager living in his attic), but Techno catches them on the first day when Tubbo sneaks into the bakery to steal some desserts.
Techno isn't heartless so he let's Tubbo continue to stay with Ranboo, just as long as he helps around the bakery and doesn't get in anyone's way. Even though Techno seems to not mind Tubbo's presence, the others in the bakery still can't help but notice that Techno very much avoids Tubbo and they have no idea why.
Maybe Techno dislikes witches or is scared of them? But if he does, why would he agree to let Tubbo stay.
Of course we know why Techno is hesitant around Tubbo: it's because of Phil.
Techno doesn't hate Phil or hate witches because of Phil, but he is...hesitant to trust them or get close to them. Which is why he's so wary around Tubbo and does his best to ignore and avoid him. Afterall, Techno has no idea what happened to Phil or why he stopped sending letters and why he broke his promise to Techno.
The truth is, when Phil returned home all those years ago, it turned out that while he was gone his parents had made an arranged marriage for him to another witch from a powerful family. Phil didn't really have a choice and went through with the marriage. He didn't tell Techno any of this through his letters because Techno was just a child and Phil didn't think it was relevant to tell him.
All of Techno's letters that he mailed were all sent to Phil's family's house, which Phil no longer lived at (now living with his spouse) and Phil would always send Wilbur over to deliver any letters from Techno to him.
As time went on, Phil became more and more depressed with his living situation, especially because his spouse and their family weren't...the nicest.
Eventually, something happens with his spouse, which makes Phil snap and he runs away, leaving everyone behind. He travels for a very long time until he finds a little abandoned cabin at the edge of some woods, nearby a small quaint little town. Phil decides to make the cabin his own and it becomes home to him. He eventually builds a greenhouse and garden, turning his little cabin into an apothecary, where he makes and sells potions and medicines (he will also sell his plants if people are interested, but it's mostly the potions).
He eventually earns the nickname "the Crowfather" by the town and surrounding area, due to the amount of birds (mostly crows but other birds as well) that tend to hang around his cabin and shop. Sometimes you can ever catch him talking to the birds (usually scolding them for whatever reason).
Phil enjoys the life he's made for himself and avoids thinking about his past, but sometimes he'll remember Techno and feel some regret. He sometimes wonders if maybe he should send Techno a letter and tell him that he's okay, that he misses Techno and had full intentions of visiting him, but life had other plans. Phil has written many letters over the years to Techno, but whenever he tries to send one, he always backs out and ends up throwing the letter away.
Techno was just a child when he last saw Phil and has probably long forgotten Phil already, so there's no need to send him a letter. That's what Phil believes anyway.
Phil pushes any thoughts of Techno out of his head and tries to focus on the life he has now.
Eventually, Phil finds and takes in a toddler named Tubbo, who Phil recognizes as another witch. Phil raises Tubbo and trains him in the ways of witches, until the day Tubbo turns 13 and heads off to go on his own journey to find his special talent.
Phil has no idea that his apprentice ended up in the same city Phil did all those years ago, and somehow found the same bakery Phil did and is now living under Techno's roof and being looked after by him.
But Phil will find out when Tubbo sends his first letter to Phil, giving him all the details of his journey so far, including the bakery he's staying in and the owner - Techno.
