Intro
Ted’s parents knew something was special about their son when he was born with bright blue hair that changed to red as soon as he started crying. They had no idea how it was happening, but as he was growing up, they did their best to dye his hair black so he wouldn’t be ostracized by his peers as he grew up
he was already ostracized a little because his social skills were terrible and he almost never made eye contact. He was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum when he was nine, so he didn’t make very many friends at school.
but when he got his letter, at least his hair changing colors made a lot more sense, so the hair dyeing stopped.
the hat barely touched his head before sorting him into Hufflepuff. The hat could see that once he got comfortable where he was (aka Hogwarts and not muggle school) he had the potential to be incredibly kind and loyal when given the opportunity
His main special interest had been tabletop games, but it only got more passionate when he discovered gobstones and wizard’s chess. He’s gotten incredibly good over the past five years, and it’s very difficult to beat him. His current winning streak for chess spans over a year.
when he’s interested in something, Ted is very intelligent and knowledgeable on the subject. However, when he isn’t, it’s very difficult to keep his attention, no matter how hard he tries. So DADA and Charms? He does very well. Herbology and History of Magic? NOPE.
he was actually really proud when he was selected to be prefect last year, and he takes his position really seriously. However, with the war on the horizon, he’s a little worried about anything that puts him in the spotlight. He is a muggleborn after all.
Before, when he felt more accepted by his peers, he would change his hair color based on the day. Now, he keeps it black, trying to not draw attention to himself, though he can’t fully control it when he’s over emotional.
He really doesn’t use his ability much, but considers it his only real defense mechanism. He has a tie for Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin always with him in his bag so if he had to run away from bullies, he could go into an empty classroom, change ties, then change into someone from that house to escape.

hes working really hard in a lot of classes he hates because he wants to be a healer, and you need at least an E in herbology much to his dismay, so he’s working really hard

Bullies- any and all he sadly has like the tiniest backbone so he’s a super easy target. Sure, he’s a prefect, but some people don’t change their behavior even after detentions lol
First kiss- Ted falls fast and hard, so I imagine he’s been that way since coming to Hogwarts. This could’ve been his first relationship, or maybe it’s someone he really liked but they weren’t that into him so he remembers it as a bigger deal than it was and is now sad whenever he sees them? This can go a million different ways.
Idk how to name this connection besides “Awakening??”- Ted’s a shy shy bi, but like I imagine he had something with another boy in secret? They probably called it off because one of them started dating someone or something but I imagine this was pretty wholesome, like maybe from a year or two ago. All the details can be discussed I’m super open
